Director Michael Chaves , who returns to helm the final installment titled The Conjuring: Last Rites , has confirmed that the next film will be the concluding chapter in the popular horror series. As fans brace for a final showdown with the supernatural, many are looking to revisit the earlier films a recent interview with SFX Magazine, director Michael Chaves shared that the decision to end the franchise came from a collective understanding among the team that now is the right time. 'You want to stop at the peak,' he said, adding that there was a mutual feeling among producers and creators that The Conjuring series should bow out while it's still at its creative and commercial high. According SFX reports, Chaves didn't want to be the one to drag the franchise down with unnecessary sequels, and saw this as a rare chance to make a meaningful and timely who previously directed The Curse of La Llorona and The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, also said that he was determined to bring back the feel of the original 2013 film. He aims for Last Rites to return to that 'back-to-basics haunted house' atmosphere that made the first movie such a standout in the genre. The director also shared that there's extra pressure this time around, to deliver a perfect farewell to beloved characters Ed and Lorraine Warren, portrayed once again by Patrick Wilson and Vera fans looking to revisit the world of The Conjuring, all eight films are currently available to stream online, though they're spread across different platforms. ‘Dead To Me' Star Cast As Jason's Mother In ‘Friday The 13th' Prequel Series

The Friday the 13th horror film series began in 1980 with the tale of a group of camp counselors who are murdered while attempting to reopen the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake. The film stars Betsy Palmer as Pamela — the mother of Jason — who has a dark secret. In subsequent movies, Jason grows up to become a maniacal, machete-wielding serial killer. Following the use of a gunny sack hood in Friday the 13th Part II, Jason began to wear his now famous hockey mask to conceal his face in Friday the 13th Part III. The Friday the 13th film franchise to date consists of 12 movies, including a remake of the original in 2009. According to Deadline, Linda Cardellini will assume the role of Betsy in the new series, which will stream on Peacock. Per the trade publication, Brad Caleb Kane (Tokyo Vice, Lodge 49) is the creator of Crystal Lake and will be the series writer, showrunner and executive producer. In 2024 Cardellini returned to Netflix for another dark comedy, No Good Deed. The premiere date for the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake is yet to be announced.
