‘Dead To Me' Star Cast As Jason's Mother In ‘Friday The 13th' Prequel Series
Netflix's Dead to Me star Linda Cardellini, has been cast as Pamela Voorhees in Crystal Lake, a Friday the 13th prequel series.
The Friday the 13th horror film series began in 1980 with the tale of a group of camp counselors who are murdered while attempting to reopen the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake. The film stars Betsy Palmer as Pamela — the mother of Jason — who has a dark secret.
In subsequent movies, Jason grows up to become a maniacal, machete-wielding serial killer. Following the use of a gunny sack hood in Friday the 13th Part II, Jason began to wear his now famous hockey mask to conceal his face in Friday the 13th Part III.
The Friday the 13th film franchise to date consists of 12 movies, including a remake of the original in 2009.
According to Deadline, Linda Cardellini will assume the role of Betsy in the new series, which will stream on Peacock. Per the trade publication, Brad Caleb Kane (Tokyo Vice, Lodge 49) is the creator of Crystal Lake and will be the series writer, showrunner and executive producer.
Deadline noted that the plot for Crystal Lake has not been divulged.

Linda Cardellini has compiled 75 screen credits dating back to 1996 when she starred in a family-friendly horror comedy series Bone Chillers. Cardellini's breakthrough role in television came with her turn as Lindsay Weir on creator Paul Feig's classic coming-of-age comedy series Freaks and Geeks.
After a supporting role in the comedy hit Legally Blonde in 2001, Cardellini was cast as Velma in the 2002 live-action adaptation of the iconic cartoon series Scooby-Doo and reprised the role for Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed in 2004.
Cardellini's other film credits include Brokeback Mountain, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Endgame, A Simple Favor, Green Book and two Daddy's Home movies. She also starred in the lead role of Anna in director Michael Chaves' 2019 horror hit The Curse of La Llorona, which is an unofficial part of James Wan's Conjuring Universe.
Cardellini also starred opposite Christina Applegate and James Marsden for creator Liz Feldman's dark Netflix comedy hit Dead to Me, which ran for three seasons from 2019-2022. In 2024 Cardellini returned to Netflix for another dark comedy, No Good Deed.
The premiere date for the Friday the 13th prequel Crystal Lake is yet to be announced.

‘KPop Demon Hunters' Manages A Rare Streaming Feat
Every week, when the Billboard charts are published again, the songs from KPop Demon Hunters get bigger and bigger. The soundtrack has only been out for about two months, and in that time it has become one of the most successful in American history. Multiple tracks penned specifically for Netflix's animated feature have reached historic highs on a number of tallies. Streaming activity continues to push the tunes, as well as the soundtrack itself, to loftier and more impressive positions. KPop Demon Hunters dominates Billboard's Streaming Songs chart this week — and not just because its lead single appears at No. 1. 'What It Sounds Like" Reaches the Top 10 'What It Sounds Like,' from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack, enters the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart for the first time as it dances from No. 11 to No. 10. That ascent is a minor one, but a very important one, as the album it's featured on manages an incredible showing on one of Billboard's most competitive rosters. KPop Demon Hunters Fills Half of the Top 10 As 'What It Sounds Like' improves and hits the top 10, tracks from KPop Demon Hunters fill half of all the spaces inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs ranking. Five tunes featured on the soundtrack now appear inside the region, which is relatively uncommon for any full-length — even those by superstars — and especially so when it comes to movie soundtracks. 'Golden' Holds at No. 1 'Golden' is once again the No. 1 most-streamed track in America. Including 'What It Sounds Like,' four other KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack cuts don't just live inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, they climb to never-before-seen highs, as 'Your Idol,' 'Soda Pop,' and 'How It's Done' lift to Nos. 3 and 6, respectively. 'Free' and 'Takedown' May Reach the Top 10 Soon The album almost commands even more real estate inside the top 10 on the Streaming Songs chart, and in the coming weeks, the 50% that it claims at the moment could grow. Two other KPop Demon Hunters tunes, 'Free' and 'Takedown,' appear just beneath the uppermost tier as those tracks step up to Nos. 11 and 12, respectively. Hunter/X and Saja Boys Rule All of the songs on the KPop Demon Hunters album are credited to both fictional groups made up for the movie — Hunter/X and Saja Boys — as well as the actors and singers who contribute vocals. Each one of the tunes manages to reach a new peak on at least one or two Billboard lists as well, and while 'Golden' can't climb on several rankings, fellow smashes like 'How It's Done,' 'What It Sounds Like,' 'Takedown,' 'Your Idol,' 'Soda Pop,' and 'Free' all make it to new best showings on the Hot 100 and various other rosters as interest in the Sony Animation project only continues to grow.

The Thursday Murder Club': The Verdict On Each Character And Cast Member
The typical murder mystery that crime thriller fans know and love typically sees a temperamental detective lead a team of officers on a murder case, from their base at police headquarters. Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club is anything but, yet promises to be a fan-favourite upon its release on August 22. The film, which is based on the best-selling book by Richard Osman, follows a group of friends living in Cooper Chase Retirement Village, as they meet every Thursday to solve a mixture of cold cases in their local area. Suddenly, the group are thrust into the heart of a real case, and will stop at nothing to solve the crime, even if it means making enemies along the way. Filled with a star-studded cast including Helen Mirren, Naomi Ackie, David Tennant, Ben Kingsley and more, we break down the roles of the main cast members, and the parts they'll play in solving the cases. Who is Elizabeth Best? As the head of the Thursday Murder Club, Elizabeth leaves no stone unturned, thanks to her sharp eye for investigating cold cases. She's often at the forefront of the mysteries, rallying the group together and even coming face to face with dangerous suspects. What else has Helen Mirren starred in? Dame Helen Mirren has starred in numerous award-winning films and television series including The Queen, Gosford Park and 1923. Who is Ron Ritchie? Ron Ritchie is a strong-willed former union activist who is a member of the Thursday Murder club. While he may appear blunt, he works well alongside the other members of the group and is extremely loyal. What else has Pierce Brosnan starred in? A former James Bond, Brosnan has starred in GoldenEye, The King's Daughter and The Out-Laws. Who is Ibrahim Arif? A former psychiatrist, he is one of the core members of the club who binds the group together thanks to his calm and collected attitude. What else has Ben Kingsley starred in? With a career spanning decades, he has previously featured in As You Like It, Anne Frank: The Whole Story and Mrs. Harris and more. Who is Joyce Meadowcroft? Previously a nurse, Joyce is the club's newest member. Although her kind demeanour may initially fool you, she's just as sharp and strong-willed as the other members. What else has Celia Imrie starred in? Celia is best known for starring in Nanny McPhee, Bridget Jones's Diary and Better Things. Who is Ian Ventham? He is the assertive and rather villainous owner of the retirement village, who clearly cares little for the residents. In the trailer Ian can be heard saying that he's, 'not worried about the cantankerous old farts', which points to him being a potential ally to the club's opposers. What else has David Tennant starred in? He is best known for starring Dr Who, Broadchurch and Jessica Jones. Who is DCI Chris Hudson? He is the detective chief inspector on the case, and PC Donna De Freitas' (see below) boss. As the Thursday Murder Club digs further into the cases, DCI Chris Hudson's frustration against the group begins to deepen. In the trailer, he can be seen yelling, 'police work is off-limits to anyone who isn't the police!' to the members. What else has Daniel Mays starred in? Prior to Thursday Murder Club he has starred in Line of Duty, Outcasts and Vera Drake. Who is Bogdan? He is a young man of Polish descent who supports the club in their key investigations. While not much is known about his role, his alliance with the group may serve them well in their time of need. What else has Henry Lloyd-Hughes starred in? He has previously starred in Unrelated, Weekender and Parade's End. Who is PC Donna De Freitas? She is a local police officer who joins forces with the Thursday Murder Club, as their insider who gives the team confidential information regarding their cold cases. It's likely that due to this, she'll be at odds with her boss DCI Chris Hudson and Ian Ventham. What else has Naomi Ackie starred in? Naomi is best known for starring in The End of the F***ing World, Blink Twice and Mickey 17.

‘The Envoy' to Launch on Global Streaming as Emmy-Winning Creators Spotlight Superfoods Powering Health, Tourism and Technology
' The Envoy " is a fast-paced new docuseries from Emmy-winning talent behind Netflix, CBS, YouTube and Anthony Bourdain's original team. Premiering in 2025 on leading global streaming platforms with an estimated reach of 50 to 70 million households, the series brings a cinematic lens to extraordinary places, showing how what we eat shapes where we travel and how economies grow. Each 30-minute episode explores how food is shaping the future through three pillars: At a time when trust in traditional media is low and budgets are being slashed, 'The Envoy' stands apart: world-class cinematic quality, creator-led and mission-driven to bridge soft power with real-world impact. The mission of 'The Envoy' is to make audiences smarter, more connected and optimistic about the future. Governments Spend Billions, Yet Most Miss the Mark In 2024, governments invested over $642 billion in tourism and cultural promotion. Most of it is lost in ad buys, consultant decks and one-off campaigns with no clear return. 'The Envoy' is the first purpose-built platform for driving action among U.S. consumers, who control more than $8 trillion in global spending across travel, food and lifestyle. 'Sometimes the difference between a local tradition and a global success story is the right spotlight,' said Laura Layousse, CEO of Compagnie Africaine Agroalimentaire, who is featured in 'The Envoy: Senegal.' ''The Envoy' gives us that spotlight. We've always known fonio was something special — a beautiful, resilient grain that's nourished our communities for generations. This kind of visibility can change everything for farmers, families, and the future of African agriculture.' Case Study: Thailand's Culinary Diplomacy Success In 2002, Thailand launched the Global Thai program to boost its global image through cuisine — a key success for culinary diplomacy, the concept of sharing culture through food. The economic success of pad thai as a global staple resulted in increased demand for rice noodle exports, increased travel to Thailand and improved international perception. 'The Envoy' is the first systematic approach to taking this model further. Using premium global distribution and world-class storytelling, the series accelerates visibility and perception change by spotlighting tourism, trade and technology. A New Model For Media ''The Envoy' fills a critical gap in the market, aligning the goals of governments, nonprofits, and viewers to create shared prosperity and stronger global ties,' said Todd Green, strategic advisor to 'The Envoy.' 'Our media model is built to be sustainable and a blueprint for the future of content marketing where premium storytelling, journalistic integrity and real-world impact work hand in hand.' The series is already being featured at major global forums, including at a highly curated Sundance Film Festival event held alongside executives from Whole Foods Market and The Rockefeller Foundation, to connect storytelling with strategy. The show's marketing strategy embraces the power of in-person connection, with a presence at key cultural and commercial events including the Fancy Food Show, World Travel Market, U.N. General Assembly and SXSW. Premiere Episode: Fonio in West Africa The debut episode features Bill Gates, celebrity chef Pierre Thiam, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Borso Tall and philosopher-farmer Moussa Samb as they explore one of the world's oldest and most climate-resilient grains. Fonio was the grain of kings and buried with ancient pharaohs — until it was nearly lost. Today, this nutrient-rich grain is powering a new future across the Sahel by improving nutrition, expanding economic opportunity for women and helping reverse desertification. 'The Envoy' brings this story to life as a blueprint for healthier communities, economic growth and a more resilient planet. Looking Ahead 'We've combined world-class journalism, filmmaking, creator content and marketing into one platform,' said Anne Marie Hagerty, creator and host of 'The Envoy.' 'Our team aims to launch the next 'Food Wonders of the World,' using premium content to make our viewers smarter, more optimistic and more aware of how their choices can have a positive impact on the planet.' 'The Envoy' is now inviting select partnerships with aligned brands and foundations seeking purpose-driven content that travels — culturally and commercially — to amplify their mission on a world stage.
