The Indo Daily: ‘Prose and Cons' – Why the Kinahan's ‘Dapper Don' loved Dumbo
You likely don't think of 'poetry' or 'prose'.
However, the man who became known as 'The Dapper Don' nursed a passion for literary creativity while behind bars in Portlaoise Prison.
In an incredible twist worthy of any decent work of fiction, Kinahan Sr began to write original work under a playful pseudonym – Cian Sharkhin, an anagram of his own name.
As it turned out, he found another use for his alias once he left prison behind.
Today on The Indo Daily, Tessa Fleming is joined by Fergus Shiel, Managing Editor of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, to hear about the surprising side-hustle of Christy Kinahan Sr, and why he was inspired by, of all things, Dumbo the Elephant.
