Michael Jackson Returns To The Top 10 For The First Time In 15 Years
This week in the United Kingdom, only one title debuts inside the top 10 on the Official Albums chart, as Renee Rapp's Bite Me launches at No. 1. The list, which ranks the most consumed projects in the country, can sometimes be flush with just-dropped projects from superstars, while in other instances, a lack of competition makes way for classics and recent favorites to soar back into the highest region. Several years-old collections find their way back to the top 10 this frame, and Michael Jackson mounts a comeback – the kind that hasn't been seen from the late superstar in a long time. Michael Jackson Returns to the Top 10 Jackson's The Essential compilation rebounds into the top 10 on the Official Albums chart. The set, which features dozens of his most famous tracks, rockets from No. 19 to No. 10 on the competitive tally. Michael Jackson Hasn't Hit the Top 10 in More Than 15 Years The Essential has now spent 15 weeks inside the top 10 since its arrival more than 20 years ago. Jackson's compilation hasn't been seen inside the uppermost tier since September 2009. That year, millions of people all around the world consumed his work in incredible numbers following his sudden and tragic passing. The Essential had been missing from the Official Albums chart for years by that point, but once the news of his death spread, the title shot to No. 1 for the first time. The set spent seven frames leading the charge before it slowly began descending. The Essential Hits the Top 10 on Several Charts Jackson's compilation has racked up 218 weeks on the Official Albums chart. These days, it regularly appears inside the top 20 and can almost always be found somewhere between Nos. 1 and 40. The project likely sells fairly well at the moment, especially for a decades-old title, but streaming activity is largely to thank for its continued success on the U.K. rankings. As it ascends into the highest tier on the Official Albums chart, The Essential also finds its way back to the same region on the Official Albums Streaming tally. This frame, the project jumps from No. 14 to No. 9, nearing its all-time high of No. 7. Michael Jackson's Biggest Singles The Essential features Jackson's singles largely in chronological order. The European version begins with "I Want You Back," featured on the album Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5. The project continues into eras like Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, and Dangerous, and ends with "You Rock My World," a single pushed from Invincible, the superstar's final proper album.

Ozzy Osbourne Scores Multiple New Hits Following His Final Concert
Ozzy Osbourne returns to multiple U.K. charts after his farewell show in Birmingham, with 'Mama, I'm ... More Coming Home' and The Essential debuting. LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA - SEPTEMBER 10: Musician Ozzy Osbourne signs copies of his album "Patient Number 9" at Fingerprints Music on September 10, 2022 in Long Beach, California. (Photo by) Ozzy Osbourne played his final show earlier this month in Birmingham, England, the city where he first made a name for himself as a musician. Both Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath performed to a huge crowd at a charity concert that doubled as a farewell for the two acts. Fittingly, both Black Sabbath and Osbourne storm the charts in the United Kingdom following the event. As fans honor their contributions and mourn the end of a decades-long run as pioneers in the hard rock space, Black Sabbath takes up more space than Osbourne across various tallies, but the rocker himself also manages to score both a new album and a song debut. The Essential Ozzy Osbourne Compilation Debuts More than 20 years after The Essential Ozzy Osbourne compilation first reached the charts in the U.K., the set debuts again. This week, the hits-packed project opens at No. 49 on the Official Albums Downloads ranking. It marks Osbourne's sixth appearance on the list, and it stands as his only charting album at the moment. "Mama, I'm Coming Home" Reaches Several Charts At the same time The Essential arrives, one of Osbourne's most famous compositions reaches two rankings for the first time. "Mama, I'm Coming Home" opens at No. 90 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and No. 93 on the Official Singles Sales list. Throughout his career, Osbourne has earned four hits on both of those purchase-only rankings, and "Mama, I'm Coming Home" brings him back to the rosters with a new tune for the first time in half a decade. He last debuted on the tallies alongside Elton John with "Ordinary Man" in early 2020. "Mama, I'm Coming Home" Spent Decades Between U.K. Debuts "Mama, I'm Coming Home" may be new to the Official Singles Downloads chart, but the track itself is far from new. Osbourne first pushed the tune to the Official Singles chart back in 1991, when it peaked at No. 45. The popular, which is one of the rocker's most famous, needed more than three decades to reappear on the U.K. charts. 'Crazy Train' Also Returns "Mama, I'm Coming Home" doesn't manage to find space on the Official Rock & Metal Singles chart, but another one of Osbourne's most iconic tracks does reach that genre-specific tally. "Crazy Train" reenters the 40-spot roster at No. 38.

Michael Jackson Returns To His Career Peak
Michael Jackson's The Essential compilation climbs to No. 7 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, ... More returning the late singer to his career high point. AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND - NOVEMBER 10: Michael Jackson performs on stage during is "HIStory" world tour concert at Ericsson Stadium November 10, 1996 in Auckland, New Zealand. (Photo by) Michael Jackson spent much of his career as one of the bestselling musical artists of his era. He achieved feats that no other act before him had managed, both in terms of albums and singles. These days, most people access the music they love via platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and others, and while some legacy acts have gotten lost in the shuffle when it comes to streaming platforms, Jackson has not. His discography is flush with so many beloved tunes that listeners continue to stream them heavily. The Essential Michael Jackson Returns to the Top 10 The Essential Michael Jackson, a compilation of some of the superstar's biggest hits, climbs this week on the Official Albums Streaming chart in the United Kingdom. The project lifts from No. 12 to No. 7, returning not only to the top 10, but reaching its loftiest placement ever. Michael Jackson Soars Back to His Career Peak No. 7 isn't just a high point for The Essential — it's the all-time peak for Jackson on the ranking as well. The compilation remains his only release to break into the top 10 on the streaming-only tally, and it has never climbed higher than seventh place. Despite the fact that The Essential came out in 2005, it didn't hit No. 7 until November 2023. Since then, the set has come close to matching that position several times, but it never quite made it until this frame. Michael Jackson Climbs on Every Chart As streams of The Essential grow, the title rises on the only other roster on which it can currently be found in the U.K., the Official Albums chart. The singles collection pushes from No. 21 to No. 16 this frame. The compilation has previously ruled that list and still ranks among Jackson's No. 1s on the main albums tally.

Michael Jackson's Hugely Popular Collection Reaches A Landmark Figure
Michael Jackson's The Essential hits 208 weeks on the U.K.'s Official Albums chart, joining ... More Thriller, Off the Wall, and Number Ones in achieving that feat. VARIOUS, VARIOUS - JUNE 25: **IMAGE RESTRICTED - NOT AVAILABLE FOR USE IN A NORTH AMERICAN MAGAZINE COVER UNTIL JULY 11, 2009** Michael Jackson performs in concert circa 1995. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/WireImage) Michael Jackson's collection of hit singles is so vast and so popular – even to this day – that at least one of his albums remains a fixture on the charts in the United Kingdom. While the specific title that appears may change over time, it's often one compilation or another that earns a spot, as it's typically powered by streams of his many smashes. Several of these collections have managed lengthy stays on the Official Albums chart, and this week, one of his most successful releases reaches a special milestone. The Essential — one of the countless hit-packed sets released by Jackson and his estate over the years — has now spent 208 weeks on the Official Albums chart. The tally ranks the most consumed full-lengths of any kind in the U.K., whether they be traditional studio LPs or compilations, and it's where Jackson can almost always be found. This frame, The Essential dips slightly from No. 17 to No. 20, which is an impressive placement for a project that has now spent four full years on the roster. The Essential is the fourth Jackson release to reach that milestone on the main albums chart in the U.K. The gathering of beloved tunes trails far behind another compilation, Number Ones, which leads all of Jackson's efforts, with 587 frames spent on the Official Albums ranking. In between the two compilations are Thriller and Off the Wall, with 261 and 225 weeks on the tally, respectively. Streaming activity is largely responsible for keeping The Essential going strong. While the set doesn't appear on any of the U.K.-based lists of top-selling albums, it does climb on the Official Albums Streaming chart. This week, it rises from No. 14 to No. 11, nearly reentering the top 10. Just a few weeks ago, it celebrated 10 years — a full decade — on the list of the most-streamed collections in the nation. Originally released in the summer of 2005, The Essential shot to No. 1 in the U.K. and is one of Jackson's 10 chart-topping projects in the country. It's the go-to release for many fans in the country whenever they want to hear one of his timeless tunes, and like a handful of other superstar projects, The Essential may always have a space on the ranking — at least unless it's eventually replaced by another compilation.

Bob Dylan's Album Soars To A New All-Time Peak
Bob Dylan's The Essential hits a new peak on the Official Album Downloads chart in the U.K., soaring ... More to No. 63 after a slow-burning return. NEW YORK - JANUARY 13-15: Bob Dylan plays a Fender Jazz bass with the harmonica around his neck while recording his album 'Bringing It All Back Home' on January 13-15, 1965 in Columbia's Studio A in New York City, New York. (Photo by Michael) Bob Dylan's music continues to reach a massive audience around the world, even more than half a century after he first rose to prominence. His catalog is filled with some of the most successful and critically-acclaimed rock tracks of all time, and he remains one of the most important singer-songwriters ever. From time to time, fans rush back to some of his biggest hits and most popular albums, turning them into chart wins once again. This frame, the folk hero sees one of his years-old projects rise to a special new peak. Dylan appears on only one chart at the moment in the United Kingdom. His compilation The Essential can be found on the Official Album Downloads tally, where it once again ranks among the most downloaded projects in the nation. This frame, the title rockets from No. 98 to No. 63. That loftier position now stands as the collection's all-time high point on this specific roster. The Essential has spent just three weeks on the Official Album Downloads chart. It debuted on the tally in late January at No. 88. Just days later, it disappeared entirely. It took several months — until mid-May — for it to return, and even then it just barely managed to break back in last time around. Two different versions of The Essential have appeared on the Official Albums chart, the most important and closely-watched ranking for full-lengths and EPs in the U.K. The set originally debuted in June 2001 and climbed to No. 9, giving Dylan yet another top 10 success. A slightly altered take arrived on the same tally in the summer of 2013. That project was far less successful, holding on for only four frames and peaking at No. 97. The Essential is one of several Dylan efforts to reach the Official Album Downloads chart recently. In the same week that the compilation debuted, The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and Highway 61 Revisited also arrived on the same downloads-only ranking. The surge in consumption of his work was thanks to the musician's biopic A Complete Unknown, which stars Timothée Chalamet as the rocker.
