He achieved feats that no other act before him had managed, both in terms of albums and singles. These days, most people access the music they love via platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and others, and while some legacy acts have gotten lost in the shuffle when it comes to streaming platforms, Jackson has not. His discography is flush with so many beloved tunes that listeners continue to stream them heavily. The Essential Michael Jackson Returns to the Top 10 The Essential Michael Jackson, a compilation of some of the superstar's biggest hits, climbs this week on the Official Albums Streaming chart in the United Kingdom. The project lifts from No. 12 to No. 7, returning not only to the top 10, but reaching its loftiest placement ever. Michael Jackson Soars Back to His Career Peak No. 7 isn't just a high point for The Essential — it's the all-time peak for Jackson on the ranking as well. The compilation remains his only release to break into the top 10 on the streaming-only tally, and it has never climbed higher than seventh place. Despite the fact that The Essential came out in 2005, it didn't hit No. 7 until November 2023. Since then, the set has come close to matching that position several times, but it never quite made it until this frame. Michael Jackson Climbs on Every Chart As streams of The Essential grow, the title rises on the only other roster on which it can currently be found in the U.K., the Official Albums chart. The singles collection pushes from No. 21 to No. 16 this frame. The compilation has previously ruled that list and still ranks among Jackson's No. 1s on the main albums tally.

Michael Jackson Hits A Decade On The Albums Chart — Again
Most legacy musical acts are lucky to keep one album on the Billboard charts at a time, and typically, it's a compilation packed with enough singles to keep fans happy and streaming. Michael Jackson is one of the rare stars whose catalog is so popular that multiple collections often live on the same rankings at the same time, sometimes for months or even years. This week is particularly special for Jackson's music on the Billboard 200, as one of his most popular releases hits a major milestone. The Essential Michael Jackson has become a go-to for countless fans of the late superstar in the United States. It's the title most listeners turn to on streaming platforms when they want to hear his biggest singles, and that continued attention keeps the title on the ranking week after week. This frame, the compilation reaches 520 weeks on Billboard's list of the most- consumed albums in America. That means it has spent exactly a decade as one of the most popular releases in the largest music market in the world. Jackson has now seen two titles spend at least a decade on the Billboard 200. The Essential Michael Jackson joins Thriller, which is still going strong to this day. That bestseller is up to 682 frames on the roster, and continues to rank as one of the most successful proper albums of all time. Continued streaming activity is largely to thank for The Essential Michael Jackson's nonstop success. Last week in America, the title moved 12,600 equivalent units, according to Luminate. Fewer than 800 of those were actual purchases, while the songs featured on the compilation's tracklist accrued well over 10 million plays. As it dips from No. 90 to No. 94 on the Billboard 200, The Essential Michael Jackson remains unmoved on both the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top R&B Albums charts. On those tallies, the compilation keeps at Nos. 23 and 10, respectively.

Michael Jackson Returns To The Top 10 On A Billboard Chart
More than a decade after his passing, Michael Jackson still manages a near-constant presence on the Billboard charts. Whether it's thanks to surges in streaming, continued physical purchases, or simply the never-ending fascination with his catalog, the King of Pop can almost always be found on one ranking or another, and usually with more than one title. This week, he's not just holding on, he's climbing. Two of Jackson's albums are performing well in the U.S., with one in particular making a notable return to a special region on a genre-specific tally. Of the two Jackson albums currently present on the Billboard charts, The Essential Michael Jackson is the stronger performer. The compilation appears on three separate rankings, and on all of them, it's on the way up. The biggest move the project makes this frame comes on the Top R&B Albums chart. There, The Essential Michael Jackson breaks back into the top 10, pushing from No. 11 to No. 9. That jump gives the pop icon another moment inside the highest tier on a Billboard ranking. The same compilation also grows on two additional lists this frame. On the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, The Essential Michael Jackson improves from No. 39 to No. 30. Over on the Billboard 200, which ranks the most-consumed albums in the U.S. across all genres, the compilation moves as well. It leaps from No. 107 to No. 97, reentering the top half of the chart. Among the three rankings where The Essential Michael Jackson currently places, it has performed best on the Top R&B Albums list. While the set has never hit No. 1, it did come very close at one point, peaking in second place. The collection has yet to reach the top 10 on either the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list or the Billboard 200. Still, given its longevity and continued relevance, it's clearly still hugely popular, and a major win. As The Essential Michael Jackson gains across the board, Thriller is also enjoying a bit of a lift, though its progress isn't quite as uniform. The bestselling title, which remains one of the most successful albums in history, is up on four charts, but it slips slightly on one. This frame, Thriller improves to No. 119 on the Billboard 200, No. 13 on the Vinyl Albums list, No. 40 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and No. 12 on Top R&B Albums tally. The only place where it takes a small hit is on the Top Album Sales chart, where it slides from No. 27 to No. 29. That's still a solid showing for a set that's now logged 443 weeks as one of the bestselling projects in the country.
