Shanaya Kapoor's first music video 'Vibe' leaves internet divided; netizens slam her dance skills, cite nepotism at play

Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, is one star kid whose Bollywood debut was the most anticipated one. It seems the patience has finally paid off as she enters the music space and marks her debut in the industry. Just ahead of the release of her debut movie, Tu Yaa Main, which released its teaser in March, Shanaya debuted in a music video titled 'Vibe'. Taking to her social media on Friday, Shanaya shared the good news along with a teaser of the song 'Vibe'. Her Instagram post caption read, 'My heart's in this track. My first global collab – Vibe – is OUT NOW!' Shanaya Kapoor's first global collab with French Montana and Guru Randhawa As the star kid already mentioned in her post that this is her first global collab, the track has been directed by Moroccan-American rapper French Montana and Indian singer Guru Randhawa, starring Shanaya Kapoor. The 25-year-old debut actress looks gorgeous in the music video, and fans think she looks much like her mother and The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives actress Maheep Kapoor. If we talk about the lyrics of the song, it is groovy and is true to its title, 'Vibe'; it is full of vibe. But the people online have mixed feelings about the music video, with some vibing with it, while others are not so much. Netizens react to Shanaya Kapoor's first music video As soon as the music video dropped on the internet, it quickly went viral, and netizens started sharing their views on it. One said, "Woahh, it's absolutely phenomenal since it's from my favourites." "You ARE the VIBE," another wrote. "Next star is born after Alia Bhatt 😍😍😍" Amid this, some users questioned her dancing skills and pointed out that she lacks expression. A Reddit post with the caption "Nepotism gave her the stage & she shat all over it, this is worse than her kathak" has garnered massive attention of netizens. Shanaya's new music video has left netizens divided. Sparking conversations, one user said, "Not a single expression throughout the video. How is she not worried? cause movies need expressions 💀" While another wrote, "if she wasn't a nepo, she wouldnt be selected as a background dancer too(btw they are doing far better than her IMO)" "It's the tik tok dance routine" "What is this duck walk? She and Suhana can compete for the worst dance award. Need to go cleanse my eyes" "Looks scary if watched without music😂 and the way she's trying HARRRRDD to look into the camera does not look natural at all koi force karke dance karwa raha hai it seems🤭😂" What's next for Shanaya Kapoor? Well, after the sudden music video drop, fans are waiting to witness Shanaya on the big screen. In March, her upcoming film, Tu Yaa Main, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, was released, but before that, she will be seen in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan with Vikrant Massey, which is scheduled to release on July 11.

Netflix India content head endorses Aryan Khan's debut show, calls it 'emotional': ‘It's everything you see in best kind of Bollywood films'

As fans wait with bated breath for Aryan Khan's debut series The Ba**ds of Bollywood* to release on Netflix India, the platform's Vice President of Content, Monika Shergill, has shared new insights into the highly anticipated project. She also reflected on working with other prominent creators like Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Heeramandi, Karan Johar for The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, and Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking about Aryan's directorial debut, Shergill said, 'I am so excited about Aryan Khan's debut series. It is going to be a very delightful and emotional ride for everyone. It will have laughter and everything that you see in best kind of Bollywood films.' While reflecting on Netflix India's collaborations with a range of filmmakers and storytellers, she said, 'If you look at the journey we have had, we have worked with some of the best creators.' She explained that while some filmmakers were enthusiastic about exploring streaming, others needed a little 'cajoling'. Recalling one such moment, Monika Shergill spoke about filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the quirky way they engaged with him. She said, 'With SLB, when you are discussing thing with him, it is important to have street food on the table, he loves having street food.' Sharing how each creator has a unique process, she said, 'With Aditya Chopra, it's an intense discussion. He likes to know how the audience is thinking and what becomes successful. It helps him create for the audience who goes to theatre but behaves differently on streaming. It is very joyful with Karan, had a great time making The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. With Shah Rukh, it has been an enduring relationship across formats.' Earlier while speaking at Waves Summit 2025, Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos also endorsed Aryan Khan's show and said, 'It is really fun, and I am going to leave the audience to try to figure out the title completely, but it is so fun. I am four episodes in.'

Ranbir Kapoor's sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni confirms her Bollywood debut, is shooting with mom Neetu Kapoor

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, who belongs to the influential Kapoors of Bollywood, is finally going to follow in the footsteps of her family. She definitely has the right amount of legacy backing her, considering she will be a fourth-generation actor from the Kapoor family. Both her parents, Neetu Kapoor and the late Rishi Kapoor, were stalwarts in their own sense, and her brother, Ranbir Kapoor, is one of the defining actors of this generation. While the project is completely under wraps, Riddhima did mention a few details about the location of the shoot, saying, 'Yes, I am filming a movie in the hills, and all I can say is that we are shooting here till June.' Her mother Neetu Kapoor's presence during the shooting has also sparked rumours about her being a part of the film. Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma has also been speculated to join the cast alongside the Do Dooni Chaar actor, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. According to Riddhima, her mother is there at the set and is 'enjoying the process thoroughly'. Riddhima, who is the creative director of her own jewellery brand called 'R Jewellery', shot to fame after her stint on the reality TV show The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives. The Netflix show featured Neelam Kothari, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, Seema Khan and Gauri Khan. Riddhima revealed that she had no plans of starring in movies and said, 'I didn't plan for this. When I was approached, I just said yes. I heard the script and loved it.' While she has rather big shoes to fill, Riddhima has shared that her family are extremely supportive of this move and are standing with her throughout it all. 'They are so excited. I keep sending them snippets of the scene, and yes, I'm fully supportive – the best part is Mom and I staying together and rehearsing our lines every day. Samara (daughter) is going to visit me once her school breaks for summer holidays.' Earlier, Neetu Kapoor had opened up on why Riddhima chose to get married and not pursue a career in acting. 'She is a wonderfully talented and beautiful girl. She's a fabulous mimic and would have given any actress a run for her money. But even as a child, she knew how much it would upset her father if she decided to become an actress. He doesn't think badly of actresses or feel that girls shouldn't work in movies. But he's zealously overprotective of his wife and children. Riddhima understood her father well. For the sake of his peace of mind, she never attempted to pursue acting as a career. Instead she said, 'I want to design clothes,' and Bob (Rishi) happily sent her to London to study,' Neetu had shared in Rishi's memoirs Khullam Khulla.

I had no intentions of making a silver screen comeback: Neelam Kothari Soni

Neelam Kothari Soni Neelam Kothari Soni , who was last seen in the 2001 release Kasam before making a comeback with the reality TV show The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives in 2020, was recently in the city for an event. The actress-turned-jewellery designer, who was accompanied by her friends and fellow stars Maheep Kapoor , Bhavana Pandey and Seema Sajdeh , sat down for a quick chat with us, where she spoke about returning to acting, stepping into OTT and her love for Ahmedabad. Excerpts: 'Had no intentions to return to acting' Neelam, who started working in films at an early age and gave hits like Jawaani, Love 86, Ilzaam, and Khudgarz, went on a sabbatical in 2001. Ask her about her return to the screen two decades on, and the actress says, 'Honestly, I had no plans or intentions to get back to acting. In fact, I didn't want to, consciously. But somehow the show (The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives), just landed in my lap. A lot of credit goes to Karan (Johar), for offering me this, as it has provided so many surprising avenues and opportunities for me.' On asking if she shared some advice from her experience in the industry to their daughters (actresses Ananya Panday and Shanaya Kapoor ), Neelam laughs, 'No, I didn't have to give any advice to them at all. Actually, they don't need it either. They are already very smart and sharp for the industry today. In fact, I believe I will need some tips from them if I do a project now (smiles).' 'OTT's reach is simply amazing' A lot of Neelam's contemporaries like Madhuri Dixit have tried their hand at playing varied roles in different genres on OTT today. Does she intend on exploring it as well? Neelam smiles, 'I believe in 'never say never.' I will take up a project if I like the concept and script, but I haven't received anything like that yet. But I am so happy to see the opportunities, roles and genres OTT is offering today. And the power it has, to give us a massive reach, is simply amazing.' 'Ahmedabad is warm and welcoming' Neelam, who has been to the city several times, has her roots in Gujarat (as her father is a Gujarati). She says, 'I am a half-Gujarati indeed, and I understand the language as well, but I can't talk in Gujarati a lot (laughs).' Talking about the city, she says, 'I have visited Ahmedabad many times for my jewellery exhibitions. The city and the people here have always been warm and welcoming.'

The White Lotus effect: Tips to ace resort fashion

A still from The White Lotus series In recent times, web shows like The White Lotus , Emily in Paris, The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives and Four More Shots Please! have redefined resort wear, merging comfort with style. Mitali Ambekar, a celebrity stylist, says, 'Web series have glamorised vacation dressing and reflect the power of resort fashion as a tool of self-expression. Whether it's the minimalism of The White Lotus, the bold colours and patterns of Emily in Paris, or the OTT ensembles in The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives – they have made resort wear aspirational as well as accessible.' Celebrity stylist Madhuri Singh adds that while most series highlight women's style, shows like The White Lotus also showcase fashionable looks for men.'Characters sporting oversized linen shirts, printed resort shirts, tailored shorts, sandals, and a watch have shown how any man can pull off these looks and say, 'I woke up like this'.' Resort wear today is all about relaxed silhouettes, breathable fabrics and easy luxury that transitions from beachside lounging to evening outings.
