Comply with daily schedule of preparation to face civil services exam, Dakshina Kannad ZP CEO tells aspirants at ‘The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025' session
Fear of failure is a part of the journey in one's life. It is necessary to push oneself daily and do the daily routine preparation in a disciplined manner to make a mark in the all-India civil services examination, said Chief Executive Officer of the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat K. Anandh in Mangaluru on Saturday. Speaking on the civil services' examination at 'The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025' session, Dr. Anandh said it is strange that only a few from Dakshina Kannada, which is known for its highy literacy rate, enter the all-India civil services. The period of the civil services examination is one year, and aspirants should have a lot of patience during this period. Aspirants should not be swayed away by what others comment. There will be helpless times, which may let the aspirants down. 'Stick to the daily routine of preparation. Yes, it will be difficult. But do the routine of preparation in a disciplined manner, which will help you crack the civil services examination,' he said. Aspirants can start writing the examination after the age of 21, and they can continue to do so till they are 32. While those from the general category have six attempts, no such specification is prescribed for those from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The general studies paper has questions from core subjects, namely history, economics, politics, geography, and environment. Aspirants can choose any one of 25 subjects as an optional subject. Dr. Anandh said the optional subject should be the one in which one should be proficient and capable of submitting a thesis. Dean of the Department of Paediatric Surgery, K.S. Medical College and Hospital, B. Sandeep Rai, spoke on the career in medicine, while chartered accountants K. Vinayak Pai and Upendra Shenoy spoke on career as chartered accountant. The secret to success is patience, perseverance and confidence, students told
VIJAYAPURA 'All it takes to succeed is patience, perseverance, focused approach and the confidence that I can do it,' Vijayapura Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi has said. He was addressing a large gathering of students and parents after inaugurating The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025 at BLDEA's V.P. Dr. P.G. Halakatti College of Engineering and Technology in Vijayapura on Tuesday. Narrating his own experience of cracking the Civil Services examination in the fourth attempt, Mr. Nimbargi called upon students not to feel inferior for having studied in Kannada medium. 'You all have the ability and the only thing that stops you from achieving something is the lack of confidence. So, be confident, update your skills and have the fighting spirit, it will automatically help you succeed in life,' he said. Narrating his own journey of a village boy to a college topper and to being an IPS officer, Mr. Nimbargi spoke about the pattern of the Civil Services. Mr. Nimbargi termed the preparation for civil services examination a beautiful journey that will teach one so many things. He said that at the same time it enables one to face any challenge in life. He told students to remember that competitive examinations work on the principle of rejection and elimination to choose the best of the lot. He told them not to get disheartened by failures or rejection. Instead, develop the ability to face rejection or failure as it will help one in facing any kind of challenge, he said. Choose a career of your interest, students told
'Don't get influenced by what others say. Take guidance but choose a career of your interest,' Director of Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology Vrushabhendrappa Y. has said. He was inaugurating The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025 at Bapuji B School in Davangere on Sunday. Prof. Vrushabhendrappa emphasised the need for equipping oneself with skills to face challenges. Narrating his own experience as a fresh engineering graduate way back in the 1960s and how lack of information deprived him of opportunities, he called upon students to make use of career counselling sessions to make an informed choice. Prof. Vrushabhendrappa called upon students not to feel inferior just because they come from small towns and villages. 'All of you are unique and have different abilities. You have to identify and explore them to make a good career out of it,' he said. Prof. Vrushabhendrappa also elaborated on the history of engineering in Karnataka when there were only three branches. 'Now, there are over 300 courses in Engineering and in Karnataka, 35 courses are being offered. You choose a course of your choice based on your capabilities,' he said. Mentioning that there are umpteen opportunities available, he said that career counselling has become essential for students and parents to make informed choices and lauded The Hindu Group for organising the event. Passion, hard work, skills needed to be successful: Bhuvanesh Patil
'Passion, hard work, discipline, confidence and requisite skills will help in you achieving excellence in your chosen field,' Chief Executive Officer of Dharwad Zilla Panchayat Bhuvanesh Patil has said. He was inaugurating The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025 at Bio Technology Hall of KLE Technology University (BVB Campus) in Hubballi on Saturday. The IAS officer, who cracked the civil services exam on his fourth attempt, narrated his own example of how failures helped him succeed. 'You need to identify your passion and also check whether you have the requisite skills,' he said. 'It is not always necessary to listen to what others say about choosing a career because none knows you better than yourself. You know your strength and weaknesses better than anyone else. So choose your career based on your passion and skills', he said. Mr. Patil said that although students from moffusil centres had the requisite skills and potential, they lacked the confidence of students brought up in urban areas. 'Developing confidence will help you face any challenge. Confidence comes from working day in and day out. Continuous practice will help you build it,' he said. He pointed out that simply working hard would not yield results and a systematic plan and discipline were crucial to reaching goals. Mr. Patil told the students to remember that achieving success in an examination or in a chosen field did not mean one's struggle would end as one would have to struggle throughout life. 'In my opinion being successful means having the ability to face any challenge,' he said. He briefed the students on preparing for civil services or other competitive examinations. Having a backup plan was also necessary, he said.
