Passion, hard work, skills needed to be successful: Bhuvanesh Patil

The Hindu26-04-2025
'Passion, hard work, discipline, confidence and requisite skills will help in you achieving excellence in your chosen field,' Chief Executive Officer of Dharwad Zilla Panchayat Bhuvanesh Patil has said.
He was inaugurating The Hindu EducationPlus Career Counselling 2025 at Bio Technology Hall of KLE Technology University (BVB Campus) in Hubballi on Saturday.
The IAS officer, who cracked the civil services exam on his fourth attempt, narrated his own example of how failures helped him succeed. 'You need to identify your passion and also check whether you have the requisite skills,' he said. 'It is not always necessary to listen to what others say about choosing a career because none knows you better than yourself. You know your strength and weaknesses better than anyone else. So choose your career based on your passion and skills', he said.
Mr. Patil said that although students from moffusil centres had the requisite skills and potential, they lacked the confidence of students brought up in urban areas. 'Developing confidence will help you face any challenge. Confidence comes from working day in and day out. Continuous practice will help you build it,' he said.
He pointed out that simply working hard would not yield results and a systematic plan and discipline were crucial to reaching goals.
Mr. Patil told the students to remember that achieving success in an examination or in a chosen field did not mean one's struggle would end as one would have to struggle throughout life. 'In my opinion being successful means having the ability to face any challenge,' he said.
He briefed the students on preparing for civil services or other competitive examinations. Having a backup plan was also necessary, he said.
Career options
Career coach and trainer Syed Sadat Pasha from CIGMA Foundation threw light on various career options available to the students after their II PUC. Apart from engineering and medical sciences, there were several other career options available to the students, he said.
Rajesh Hongal, lecturer, Computer Science and Engineering, and KEA representative, briefed the students about the online counselling process and what they should bear in mind while attending the counselling to choose courses.
In the interactive session, Dean cum Director of Karnataka Medical College and Research Institute Dr. S.F. Kammar clarified the doubts of students and parents on the medical sciences and emphasised why one should choose the profession, considered as noble profession.
Answering queries on engineering, researcher, trainer and Director of Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research of KLE Technological University Prof. Satyadhyan Chickerur shed light on the changing technological scenario due to the advent of artificial intelligence. Highlighting the need to choose a course based on one's interest, he also told students to keep track of changing trends and advancements in technology while opting for engineering courses.
Several students and their parents raised questions on various career options and the scope for various courses and got their doubts cleared during the interactive session.
