Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Brutally Honest on Top 100 NFL Player List

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Every year, a list is compiled by NFL players, where they essentially rank their teammates and opponents. The Top 100 NFL Players list is already starting to roll out with players like Tua Tagovailoa, James Cook, Zach Allen, and more revealed so far. More news: Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Has Developed New Relationship With Tom Brady Though the list is often up for debate, there are players who just don't see the value in it. One such player is Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes joined "The Kay Adams Show," where he discussed the Top 100 NFL Players list and was brutally honest about what it means to him. "At the end of the day all I'm trying to do is win Super Bowls and I don't care where I am on that list — no offense.' Patrick Mahomes on the NFL Top 100 List — Kay Adams (@heykayadams) July 7, 2025 When host Kay Adams talks about Mahomes' relationship with the list, coyly inferring that the Chiefs quarterback has been ranked all over the place, he is honest about not caring at all where he is ranked on it. "I know it's a year-by-year thing. There is a lot of great quarterbacks, a lot of great players in this league. They can rank me wherever they rank me. At the end of the day all I'm trying to do is win Super Bowls, and I don't care where I am on that list — no offense." Mahomes has the right attitude regarding the Top 100 NFL Player list. In fact, he has been ranked No. 1 two different times, but he has also been ranked fourth in 2023, eighth in 2022, and fourth in 2020. He is viewed as the best player in the league as well. The reasoning behind Mahomes being viewed as the best player in the league is that he sets himself apart by his play. Even in the 2024 NFL season, the Chiefs were hampered by injuries. Isaiah Pacheco, Hollywood Brown, and Juju Smith-Schuster all dealt with injuries, leaving Mahomes with a rotating cast of offensive pass catchers. Despite losing multiple players for weeks at a time, the Chiefs were able to make it to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row. Sadly, the Chiefs were routed by the Philadelphia Eagles and were not able to be the first team in NFL history to complete the coveted threepeat, but they still made it to the big game. Kansas City continues to be the team to beat in the AFC, and a big reason for that is Mahomes. He is arguably the best clutch player in the NFL, and ranking him anywhere on the Top 100 list wouldn't matter. Mahomes is on a trajectory similar to Tom Brady, and the Chiefs star has been to five Super Bowls since becoming the starter. Simply put, he is special, and no list will ever take that away. Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Has Developed New Relationship With Tom Brady

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. There was a time when Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes and arguably the NFL's greatest of all time, Tom Brady, were fierce rivals. In fact, Brady and the New England Patriots took down Mahomes and the Chiefs in the 2019 AFC Championship during the 2018 season, and Brady and the Bucaneers in Super Bowl LV. More news: Chiefs' Travis Kelce Issues Major Warning to Jaguars Rookie Travis Hunter There are also conversations about who is the GOAT. Granted, Brady has seven Super Bowl titles to Mahomes' three, but the pair share a similar story and trajectory. Despite Mahomes only being in his ninth season, there are those who would consider him to be the greatest already, or at least very close to it. Despite the back-and-forth about dominance, Brady has since retired from the game of football. Now, Mahomes is considered the best quarterback in the league, or one of them. The Chiefs were taken down by the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, but it's only a matter of time before Mahomes returns to the top of the AFC. Now, it appears the Chiefs' star might have a surprise mentor in his former rival. Sounds like Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes have developed quite the relationship this offseason…👀@heykayadams | @PatrickMahomes — Up & Adams (@UpAndAdamsShow) July 7, 2025 Initially, host Kay Adams talks about how Brady stated that if anyone were to pass his accomplishments in the NFL, it would be Mahomes. Through his appreciation of the comments, Mahomes also reveals the sort of mentorship he has received from Brady this offseason. "...Knowing how blessed I am to be in Kansas City and have all these great players around me. Having Tom, a guy like that say that, that just motivates me even more. I've actually talked to Tom a good amount this offseason, and it's cool that he wants to give me advice. He didn't have to be like that and he's such a good dude. I have so much respect for him, and I'll take any advice he gives me," Mahomes stated. Adams tries to pry what kinds of advice Brady told Mahomes, but he coyly withholds the words he has shared with his former rival. Mahomes is on a similar trajectory and could theoretically pass Brady with championships, but that will take some time. The Chiefs have appeared in five Super Bowls since Mahomes became a starter, winning three of those. Kansas City remains the team to beat in the AFC, and a big reason for that is the skills of Mahomes. He continually finds ways to win, and could evolve even more given the advice he has received from Brady.
