More info King Charles and Queen Camilla arrived in Edinburgh on Tuesday morning as their helicopter was spotted flying above homes. It comes as the pair prepare to carry out a series of engagements in the Scottish capital as Royal Week gets underway. On July 1, the couple's helicopter was spotted flying into the city before landing at Holyrood Park. Edinburgh locals caught sight of the aircraft soaring through the sky around 10am. King Charles III started his official engagements by receiving a Royal Salute and inspecting The King's Bodyguard Scotland (Royal Company of Archers) Guard of Honour in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. He then took part in the Ceremony of the Keys which welcomes him to Edinburgh. Later on Tuesday, the King and Queen are set to host guests at a garden party at the palace, alongside the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence. The monarch traditionally spends a week based at the Palace of Holyrood house each year in what is known as Holyrood Week or Royal Week in Scotland. In an impromptu speech, she said her visit "has just reinforced my belief in what wonderful places libraries are, literally from toddlers to pensioners - they manage to inspire a love of reading of books. I wish a lot of other people would follow your example and open more libraries all over the country, because I think, sadly, a lot of them have been closing down. "So to see something as wonderful as this being reopened is all to the credit to all of you who've made it happen."
