SmackDown: WWE subtly hints at John Cena's expected face turn, here's what may happen next
The latest episode of SmackDown ended with an intense segment in which John Cena-Logan Paul shared the ring with Cody Rhodes-Jey Uso ahead of their tag match at Money in the Bank. The YouTuber will be joining forces with the current Undisputed Champion to take on 'QB1' and the reigning World Heavyweight Champion at the Premium Live Event. The segment played out as expected, with the babyfaces (Uso and Rhodes) standing tall over the heels (Paul and Cena). However, a key moment during the segment caught everyone's attention as it suggested that 'The Franchise Player' may become a good guy (face) again. All is not well between John Cena and Logan Paul? Cody Rhodes kicked off the final segment of the night with a fiery promo in which he addressed the events that transpired at WrestleMania 41 where he lost the Undisputed title to John Cena after Travis Scott interfered. 'QB1' was then joined by Jey Uso. The two were soon interrupted by John Cena, who spewed venom on them and accused them of being 'wannabes'. The soon-to-retire star then revealed that Logan Paul was in the building. 'The Maverick' soon made his way to the ring. This led to a brawl between the two sides. Rhodes and Uso were on the same page. However, Cena and Paul were not. At one point, 'The Last Real Champion' even tried to walk away. He, however, changed his mind after an insult from Rhodes. This led to absolute chaos. In the end, Rhodes hit Logan Paul with a 'Cody Cutter' and nailed Cena with a 'Beautiful Disaster' as they closed the show. Logan Paul to turn John Cena at Money in the Bank? Cena and Paul are not on the same page. And, this suggests that the veteran may soon turn face. In fact, this could happen as early as the Money in the Bank event. Hypothetically, the YouTuber could turn on Cena at the event after some miscommunication. This could force The Marine actor to reassess his priorities and once again become the baby face he was before 'selling his soul' to The Rock at Elimination Chamber. If this happens, it will be along expected lines. Dave Meltzer, a pro wrestling journalist, had earlier told Indiatimes that the star will turn a 'hero' again before calling time on his career later this year. ‘What a waste': Netizens slam John Cena's short match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event: John Cena defeated R-Truth in a short but eventful match at Saturday Night's Main Event. The contest saw 'The Franchise Player' use underhanded tactics to vanquish his 53-year-old opponent. Several netizens took to social media to express their views about Cena's latest appearance and most of them were not too impressed by what happened at the event. Fans express disappointment with John Cena's match R-Truth took on John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event in a match that many were looking forward to. The former 24X7 champion entered the arena dressed as the Cenation Leader, who he considers his 'childhood hero'. A surprised Cene mounted some offence on him before the veteran turned the tide and nailed The Marine actor with his own trademark moves. Cena eventually tried to hit Truth with the Undisputed title but hesitated. The referee then removed the belt. This gave Cena an opportunity to nail him with a low blow and pick up the win. After the match, Cena hit Truth with the belt. Netizens were not too impressed by the way the contest played out. One of them said that it was a 'waste' of the limited appearances Cena has left in his career. What a waste of an appearance for cena!!! 😭 Another one said that not only the match but the entire heel run has been 'lacklustre'. WWE has dropped the ball so hard with Cena's heel turn. I can't believe how lackluster its been so far More fans echoed similar sentiments Is his heel turn really just wasting the fans time and making the product look like a joke? Is this the endgame? Because this has been the most retarded thing I've ever seen from WWE Waste of time. The feud between R-Truth and Cena started when the current Undisputed Champion put his 'fan' through a table during the post-event press conference for Backlash. Cena tried to cost Jey Uso his title Later in the night, Cena interfered in Jey Uso's match against Logan Paul and tried to cost 'The Yeet Master' his World Heavyweight title. However, things did not go as planned as Cody Rhodes returned to WWE programming and hit his WrestleMania 41 opponent with Cross Rhodes. Saturday Night's Main Event: Travis Scott to help John Cena defeat R-Truth at the show? All we know
Saturday Night's Main Event: John Cena is set to take on R-Truth at Saturday Night's Main Event this Saturday in a match that has evoked strong reactions from the WWE Universe. Some are happy about the veteran getting to be part of the Cenation Leader's retirement tour. However, others feel that Truth– who has been a lower mid-carder over the last few years–has no business feuding with a star of Cena's stature in his final year. The match itself is expected to be a one-sided affair with Cena going over. However, Truth– who is a former US Champion– may be able to spring a surprise on his 'childhood hero'. If this does indeed happen, Cena could receive help from a familiar ally. Travis Scott to come to John Cena's aid at SNME? Travis Scott aligned with Cena and The Rock at Elimination Chamber 2025 and assaulted a helpless Cody Rhodes. He then interfered in the main event of WrestleMania 41 and helped the master of the STFU win the Undisputed Championship from 'QB1'. Scott may come to Cena's aid again at Saturday Night's Main Event if R-Truth proves to be too much to handle. Given what we saw at Backlash and 'Mania, Scott's potential involvement may just give The Marine actor an opportunity to resort to unfair means to pick up the win. It has previously been reported that Scott and Cena will be teaming up to take on yet-to-be-announced opponents at Money in the Bank on June 7. This suggests that there is a strong chance of the above angle playing out at Saturday Night's Main Event. How did John Cena, R-Truth's rivalry start? R-Truth interfered in Cena's match against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash and stopped 'The Viper' from hitting 'The Franchise Player' with a punt kick. Following this, Orton nailed him with an RKO. The distraction, however, was enough to help Cena pick up the win after resorting to some underhanded tactics. Following the match, Cena put Truth through a table and set the stage for this match. Remembering Durban's grand Marine Hotel: A lost landmark with a bay view
And artist's drawing of the Marine Hotel shortly after its construction in 1902. Image: Supplied The old picture this week was sent to us by keen Then & Now follower Peter Sharland from Hillcrest. It is a limited edition print (No 100) of Durban's gracious Marine Hotel that was drawn many years ago, the artist not known. Sharland remembers his grandmother lived at the hotel for seventeen years from 1947 to 1963. 'We visited her from Lusaka every three years,' he says. The famed hotel was built at the bottom of what was the Gardiner Street, today Dorothy Nyembe, with sweeping views over the bay. On the other corner stood the more modest Twines Hotel, which opened in 1902 while the Marine was still being built. The Hotel soon became regarded as Durban's top hotel. The Gardiner Street Jetty in the foreground was later often used to land flying boat passengers. The statue of Dick King was right in front of the hotel. Today considerable reclamation has been made to the bayshore. The hotel was demolished in 1972. The lifting of the siege of Mafekeng was celebrated in the hotel and a framed copy of the dinner menu in the reception area revealed that the dishes on offer had included Kruger Marrow Bones on Toast [Paul Kruger being President of the Transvaal at the time]. A number of permanent residents had to seek other accommodation when the Marine was closed including Mrs Leslie Leuchards who had lived there in a suite for 50 years and had always dined at table number 13. Mrs Leuchards then moved to the Royal Hotel. The modern multi-storey office tower, called The Marine, stands on the site today.

WrestleMania 41: Was The Rock's absence responsible for the relatively dull ending to John Cena and Cody Rhodes' match?
John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes to win the Undisputed Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 41 Night 2. The match was a fairly engaging affair, which featured a referee bump and interference from Travis Scott. However, it paled in comparison to the main event of WrestleMania 40, which pitted 'QB1' against Roman Reigns. Here's why the biggest match of the year did not meet those standards. WrestleMania 41: The build for John Cena and Cody Rhodes' match could have been stronger Last year's main event marked the end of a story that started in 2023 when Cody Rhodes failed to beat Roman Reigns at 'The Show of Shows'.As such, it had a lot of depth to it. This sadly wasn't the case this time around. Rhodes and Cena's feud started when the latter turned on 'The American Nightmare' at Elimination Chamber 2025 on The Rock's orders. Instant reactions to that ending:#WrestleMania Thereafter, The Marine actor skipped a few episodes of Raw before appearing on the European tour. Unfortunately, these appearances weren't enough to save the day. The two had a few strong exchanges but the Rock's absence from WWE programming hurt the build up. Moreover, Cena's rants about being in a 'toxic relationship' with the WWE Universe and Rhodes' attempts to protect the fans too felt repetitive and this added to the worries. No powerful run-ins Last year's main event featured run-ins from the likes of Cena himself, Solo Sikoa, The Rock, Seth Rollins, and The Undertaker. Fans expected something similar this time around as well. There were also rumours of Stone Cold Steve Austin getting involved. Moreover, many felt that The Rock would be involved given his past with Cena and Cody Rhodes. However, nothing of that sort happened. Travis Scott interfered and received a Cross Rhodes from 'QB1'. This made absolute sense storyline-wise as the rapper had attacked him at Elimination Chamber 2025. However, it failed to make up for The Great One's absence as Scott is not a known name in professional wrestling circles. As such, the whole ending– which involved Cena picking up the win after nailing Rhodes with the title– felt underwhelming. For all the latest coverage on WWE, track updates here
