Lady Gaga honors Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Bennett at San Francisco concert

Lady Gaga paid tribute to heavy metal great Ozzy Osbourne on the first night of her San Francisco run this week. In the city as part of The Mayhem Ball tour on Tuesday, July 22, the 39-year old pop superstar emerged from her dramatic proscenium theater stage piece at Chase Center wearing a black T-shirt featuring the Black Sabbath frontman. Osbourne, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and reality TV pioneer, died earlier that day at age 76. Gaga stormed the runway in the shirt with a leather coat sweeping around her as Osbourne's 1980 hit solo single 'Crazy Train' roared through the speakers. Though she made no mention of the late singer, his cultural imprint resonated throughout the show. Her Mayhem Ball production — merging gothic darkness with heavy-metal baroque flair — felt, in many ways, inspired by the Prince of Darkness himself with its reliance on black costuming and candelabras. During her encore, Gaga also thanked San Francisco 'for taking care of Tony Bennett.' The ' I Left My Heart in San Francisco ' crooner collaborated with Gaga on the 2014 album 'Cheek to Cheek' and in 2021 on 'Love for Sale.' The pair, who toured together in 2014 and 2015, developed a well-known friendship, with Gaga helping him through performances in later years as he dealt with the effects of Alzheimer's disease. This week marks two years since Bennett's death. The singer, who was diagnosed with the progressive brain disorder in 2016, died at age 96 on July 21, 2023. Gaga's three-night stint at Chase Center continues Thursday, July 24, and Saturday, July 26.

Lady Gaga latest pop star to suffer on-stage blunder as she takes a tumble in Las Vegas

Lady Gaga took a tumble during her performance in Las Vegas as part of The Mayhem Ball tour but she quickly styled it out and carried on singing to the delight of the crowd Lady Gaga has become the latest pop girly to suffer an on-stage mishap, with fans captioning the moment she styled out a stumble on camera. The Poker Face hitmaker, who is currently on a world tour with The Mayhem Ball, was performing in Las Vegas when the incident happened. ‌ The singer, 39, was belting out Vanish Into You from her latest album Mayhem when she looked like she was about to take a tumble and fell to the floor. In the footage taken by a fan in the crowd, one of Lady Gaga 's camera crew also appeared to stumble. ‌ However, the pop icon managed to quickly get back on her feet and continue her jaw-dropping performance. Many fans online noticed the fitting lyrics she was singing as she tripped, with one quipping: "'into the night we... fall' and she did." ‌ "They better make sure the floors are not slippery the next venue she goes to," another mused, with a third adding: "Katy almost falling from cloud nine with her butterfly, Beyoncé so fat she almost broke the strings and Lady Gaga falling while performing? What is going on." It seems that there is something in the air when it comes to pop stars and their tours at the moment. Earlier this month, Katy Perry's fans were left gobsmacked by her professionalism when a butterfly prop she was perched on plummeted mid-air during a recent gig. ‌ The Roar songstress was belting out 'Roar' at the Chase Centre when the prop took a sudden dive, causing the audience to gasp in worry for the star. The singer briefly halted the song to regain her balance before carrying on with the performance. She even made light of the hair-raising incident after the show, sharing a close-up snap of her startled expression as the prop descended. ‌ Katy captioned the post: "Goodnight San Fran." Fans were stunned by the incident and flocked to social media to commend her composed response. One admirer posted on X/ Twitter: "The professionalism here is beyond insane, like that could've easily cost your life, but Katy didn't panic and she kept the show going.... "The way she kept calm and kept singing- others would have freaked and said 'no no please stop' so glad Katy is safe but the safety team needs to step up," another fan wrote. One worried user remarked: "Yeah, it's time for these artists to get out the air..." Another queried: "Why do all of these stars need these floating stages for their shows. "Her astronaut training kicked in and was able to keep her calm and able to continue with the show. Mission accomplished," another quipped.

Best Moments From Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball Tour Opening Night In Vegas

With interesting costumes, dramatic stage effects, and her signature energy, Gaga is delivering performances that are nothing short of unforgettable. Lady Gaga is making waves around the world, and her devoted fans, the Little Monsters, are here for every second of it. After electrifying performances at Coachella and in Brazil, Gaga officially launched her Mayhem Ball tour this week at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. This time, the spectacle is bigger, bolder, and more theatrical than ever. With interesting costumes, dramatic stage effects, and her signature energy, Gaga is delivering performances that are nothing short of unforgettable. If you missed the chance to see her live, don't worry, here's a look at some of the most unforgettable moments from the first night of Lady Gaga's The Mayhem Ball. 1 – Lady Gaga opened the show with a haunting performance of 'Bloody Mary," standing atop a massive red skirt that dominated the stage. As the skirt slowly unfolded, it revealed dancers trapped inside cages, setting the tone for a high-impact spectacle. She followed it up with electrifying renditions of 'Abracadabra," 'Judas," and 'Scheiße," leaving the crowd in awe. 2 – While performing Perfect Celebrity, Lady Gaga brought back the eerie stage setup she used at Coachella. She appeared in a giant sandbox filled with skeletons, wearing a flowing white dress. As the song began, she sat calmly with her arm resting on a pile of bones. Then, in the next song, Disease, something unexpected happened: the skeletons, who were actually backup dancers, began to move. 3 – One of the most powerful moments from the Mayhem Ball tour was Gaga's performance of Paparazzi. It stood out for its visuals and storytelling. Gaga walked on the stage wearing shiny platinum heels, while her long white dress created a dreamy atmosphere. The stage then suddenly lit up with rainbow colours. By the end of the performance, Gaga made a bold pose before slowly sinking into the stage. 4 – Killah saw Lady Gaga wearing Gothic attire. While the song is one of the album's highlights, the massive stage gave Gaga the chance to get funky with the production. During one of the moments, the singer was seen having fun on stage. 5 – Lady Gaga sang Shallow from a small Viking-style boat, which had a spine-like design and a human skull at the front. Right after that, she moved to her newest track, Die With a Smile. She sang it while sitting at a beautifully made piano made of wood, for which Gaga received the most thunderous response of the night. The audience didn't just cheer, they sang every word and turned the performance into an emotional experience. Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Supporting her chart-topping album, Gaga is hitting cities across North America, Europe, and the U.K., marking her first full arena tour since 2018. 'There's something electric about a stadium, and I love every moment of those shows,' Gaga shared in a statement. 'But with The Mayhem Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience—something more intimate, closer, more connected—that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create.' Gaga wasn't initially planning to tour this year, but as she explained on Instagram, the enthusiasm from fans was overwhelming. 'The incredible response to the new album inspired me to keep things going. We chose arenas this time to give me the opportunity to control the details of the show in a way you simply can't in stadiums—and honestly, I can't wait.' The Mayhem Ball kicked off on July 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will travel to Seattle, New York, Miami, Toronto, and Chicago, before heading overseas with stops including London, Milan, Berlin, and Paris. The tour wraps up on November 20. On April 15, Gaga announced she would be expanding the tour with 13 additional performances due to high demand, including extra shows in major cities across North America and Europe. On April 22, she revealed seven more stops have been added to the tour, expanding the North American leg even further. Fans in California can now catch her in San Francisco for three nights, as well as four in Los Angeles. Fans can expect Gaga's signature theatricality, paired with the album's themes of embracing personal chaos and radical self-acceptance. As Gaga told ELLE in her February 2025 cover story, creating Mayhem was 'about following your own chaos into whatever cranny of your life that it takes you to.' She further explained, 'Part of the message of even the first song on the album is that your demons are with you in the beginning and they are with you in the end, and I don't mean it in a bleak way. Maybe we can make friends sooner with this reality instead of running all the time.' Gaga also emphasized that the album 'breaks a lot of rules and has a lot of fun.' Lady Gaga Kickstarts The Mayhem Ball in Las Vegas: Compilation of Best Moments from the Night

Lady Gaga has hit the ball out of the park with her performance at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The singer kickstarted The Mayhem Ball on July 16, where she offered the fans electric performances of her latest album's best songs. The actress-musician had announced the tour in March this year and expressed her excitement over her first tour in the Arena, since 2018. In the announcement statement she released earlier this year, Gaga mentioned, 'This is my first arena tour since 2018.' She further added, 'There's something electric about a stadium, and I love every moment of those shows. But with The MAYHEM Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience—something more intimate—closer, more connected—that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create.' Best moments from Lady Gaga's The Mayhem Ball The opening rush before the show was insane. The fans expressed their love for Lady Gaga in the pre-show event by recording text-in testimonials. As the singer hit the stage, she started the performance with Bloody Mary, which she also crooned to at Coachella. Throughout her whole act, Gaga went on to demonstrate her acting skills, which only enhanced her performance. Out of the many tracks pulled out efficiently by the musician, the fan favorite was Poker Face. Gaga welcomed the crowd to the concert, as she said, 'Welcome to Mayhem,' in a German accent. She further screamed, 'Welcome to the opera house. This is my house.' The singer soon began with her Poker Face performance, vibing with the audience on the Queen of Hearts-themed performance. Other standout tracks performed by the actress at the Mayhem Ball included Perfect Celebrity, Disease, Killah, and Paparazzi. For Killah, the musician donned a gothic look as she let herself loose in front of a large skull placed on the stage. She also carried out horror spins before unleashing a hellish and prolonged scream. For the final lap, Gaga, donning a black beanie and a Cramps t-shirt, crooned to How Bad Do You Want Me. For the last song, she simply existed as a human, sharing casual smiles with the fans, and ran around the stage. Addressing the crowd, the actress-singer said, 'Before I came on stage tonight, I couldn't even believe you were here for me.' Lady Gaga's next stop for the tour is in San Francisco, where she will perform on July 22.
