Prabhas's Raja Saab makers say they shot for 16-18 hours amid 8-hour shift debate

At the teaser launch of Prabhas's upcoming film 'The Raja Saab', the producers weighed in on the ongoing debate around the proposed eight-hour work shift in the industry. They revealed that they had been working 16 to 18 hours a day to achieve the desired outcome. The teaser was officially unveiled on June 16.'The Raja Saab's' team worked round the clock to get the film ready for its December 5 release. At the teaser release of the Maruthi-directed horror-comedy in Hyderabad on Monday, the makers discussed the long schedule of the film and also addressed India Today's question around film crews toiling extremely long producer, TG Vishwa Prasad, opened up about the challenges of shooting a big-budget film, to which he replied, 'It's already public how the film took two and a half years. The first difficult thing that we executed was that we had our big schedule post Kalki starting by end of July-mid August to all the way to end of December. I don't know how Maruthi managed. He started at 6 am and ends at 11 am and continued this for more than 120 days.' He went on to add that it's a grand film with a high-on-drama 40-minute climax. The director clarified that while his actors worked only around 8 hours, he and his crew worked double shifts to pull the film explained, 'What happens, they (actors) will work an 8-hour shift. I will keep some actors on one side (shift) and then [shoot with] some actors. But we (the crew) will work 18 hours a day: from morning, 6 am to 10 pm, we used to work definitely. That is why this much quality and content we could shoot.'Here's the clip: Pointing towards his director of photography and production designer, he added how the entire team worked really hard and once audiences see the film, they will realise how much effort it according to recent reports, Deepika Padukone asked for a strict eight-hour work shift to sign Prabhas-led 'Spirit', but director Sandeep Reddy Vanga refused to oblige. While the deal between them fell flat, it definitely sparked industry-wide debate: the need to have work shifts and whether it is even feasible for a creative industry to have strict schedules.'The Raja Saab' also stars Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malvika Mohanan and Nidhhi Agerwal.
