36 famous faces with shows at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe

The Edinburgh Fringe is fast-approaching, with plenty of famous faces such as Miriam Margolyes and Bill Bailey set to appear during the 2025 festival. Taking place across 265 venues, there are already more than three-thousand shows lined-up for August and searching for shows can quickly become overwhelming. But if you are looking for an easy place to begin, sometimes it is easier to start with what - or who - you already know. There are top comedians such as Alan Davies and Nish Kumar set to appear, as well as reality TV show winners like Hannah Byczkowski from The Traitors, or Scotland's own Peter Sawkins from the Great British Bake Off. David Hayman and Pete Doherty are among British celebrities with shows at this year's Fringe. There are then American sitcom stars such as Caroline Rhea and Eden Sher putting on their own shows, in addition to multihyphenate performers including Nick Mohammed, Eunice Olumide MBE, and The Ballad of Wallis Island's Tim Key. There is a huge variety to the shows on offer during the Fringe and this list teases just a fraction of the entertainment which will be available in August. But if you are hoping to be inspired - or just looking for some general guidance - here are 36 famous faces with shows at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. 1 . Miriam Margolyes Miriam Margolyes will return to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025 with her show Margolyes and Dickens: More Best Bits. Running for an hour and ten minutes, the iconic actress, TV personality and author will perform at the Pleasance Theatre (Venue 150b) from August 9–24, with fascinating stories of the man behind the classics. | Getty Images Photo Sales 2 . Tim Key As the description for his show Loganberry reads, Tim Key had 'decent reviews for previous shows' and 'played a pigeon in Bong Joon Ho's latest movie'. The English poet, comedian, actor and screenwriter has previously won the Edinburgh Comedy Award and is also known for his role as Alan Partridge's sidekick Simon and, most recently, as Charles in The Ballad of Wallis Island. Key will perform at the Edinburgh Fringe from July 30–August 17 at Forth, Pleasance Courtyard (Venue 33). | Getty Images Photo Sales 3 . Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad "Traditionally it's been television that has announced seasons of new sitcoms or comedy specials, so we thought why not do the same thing ourselves and try and recreate a bit of that water-cooler buzz? We live in an age now where comedians are releasing specials all the time, but it can be easy for them to be lost in the fray. Stand up comedian and Some Laugh podcast hot Marc Jennings "We'd produced our shows separately – but by packaging these shows together, it gives people who're fans of the podcast, or Scottish comedy in general, a one-stop-shop where they'll find a new special in the same place every Sunday throughout the summer.' Glaswegian comedian Christopher Macarthur-Boyd, whose show Scary Times will be the first special released in the Summer Laugh season added: 'Collectively we've spent over £15,000 of our own money to self-finance these tapings. New airport scanners help comedian plug new Fringe show shock

It is good to hear that Edinburgh Airport is planning a major expansion of its facilities. This is long overdue as the terminal has struggled to cope with the increasing number of passengers as more flights and destinations are added each year. Learn More Sorry, there seem to be some issues. Please try again later. Submitting... However, one improvement has already been made, which impressed me greatly. I have been critical of our city's airport in these pages in the past, but I have to put on record right here and now that the new 'security experience' is first rate. Vladimir McTavish actually rated his airport experience with the smiley-face button Last weekend, I flew down to Gatwick on my way to the Brighton Fringe where I am previewing my Edinburgh Fringe show throughout this month. Due to my bus being delayed, and then missing a tram, I arrived at the airport later than planned. Looking at watch I saw it was less than an hour until take-off. It was midday on the Friday of a bank holiday weekend. The place was predictably heaving, and my heart sank when I saw the crowds of people heading through to departures. This looked like the kind of queue that could take 40 minutes or longer to clear. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad But, thanks to the new scanners where you keep everything inside your bag, we breezed through in about ten minutes, despite me having my luggage checked because of a suspect item showing up. I actually even rated my experience with the smiley-face button on the way out. Usually I can't be bothered with this, because it's right next to the duty-free shop. Once in departures, I saw that my flight was 'pre-boarding' at Gate 2. I had never heard that term before. It seems that 'pre-boarding' is a new phrase to have entered the English language. It means standing in a queue for half an hour. What was the suspicious item in my luggage? It turned out to be the flyers for my preview at Brighton Fringe. The woman in security was very interested and says she is going to come to the show in August. At this time of year, comedians never miss a chance to plug their Edinburgh Fringe show. Talking of which, my show, 2025 – Last Chance Saloon, is at The Stand Comedy Club at 7pm from July 31 to August 24. Tickets now on sale.
