Fans are curious about which couple will be endgame
WARNING: This article contains spoilers from The Summer I Turned Pretty novels by Jenny Han
The Summer I Turned Petty on Amazon Prime Video has crossed the halfway mark on its final season and it looks like Belly (played by Lola Tung) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) are heading down the aisle after his proposal had fans furious.
Viewers are now desperate to find out whether Belly will get her happy ending with Jeremiah, despite Conrad (Christopher Briney) desperately trying to hide his feelings from her, with the older Fisher brother having many green flags.
Those looking for answers about whether Conrad will be revealing his feelings and if it will have an impact on Belly can find some in The Summer I Turned Pretty novels by Jenny Han.
Although The Summer I Turned Pretty is adapted from the novels, there have been changes, including Belly's birthday, and the source material might not be followed exactly.
So fans will have to see whether the TV adaptation will follow the novels.
Who does Belly choose in The Summer I Turned Pretty books?
In the novels, Belly chooses Conrad after he finally confesses his feelings to her.
During her time in Cousins, the pair grow closer and Conrad's walls break down, and he's unable to deny his feelings anymore.
After confessing his feelings, Jeremiah finds out and the two brothers get into a fight over Belly and who loves her more.
Conrad convinces his sibling to go back to Belly and for the pair to get married.
But Jeremiah is shaken by Conrad's revelation and asks Belly if she still has feelings for his brother.
Belly says Conrad will always have a little piece of her heart, which is the death knell for their relationship.
Jeremiah then leaves town, and Belly and Conrad reconcile as they finally get together.
Years down the line, Conrad and Belly get married with Jeremiah attending the wedding with a date. He seems to have moved on and acknowledges the couple before focusing on his date.
Whether the TV show will see things play out in the same way or offer up something slightly different for fans remains to be seen.
Either way audience can expect a rollercoaster ride towards the finale, with star Briney previously teasing: 'S*** will hit the fan. Don't worry, guys.'
While co-showrunner and author Han teased to Vanity Fair: 'I guess I can say that there are moments that the readers have been really looking forward to—so I wanted to be the one to do it.'
Han added: 'I think I've said a lot more than I've ever said [about the new season].'
