BBC Antiques Road Trip shares huge announcement after 15 years on air
The much-loved daytime show has been given a huge announcement, as it celebrates being on air for 15 years In its milestone 15th year broadcasting, Antiques Road Trip has secured another commission from BBC Daytime for a 32nd series on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Viewers of the beloved afternoon programme can look forward to 20 fresh episodes, featuring two rival antiques specialists battling it out weekly to discover the most lucrative collectables. Adding to the excitement, the production company has also received the green light for a fifth series of The Travelling Auctioneers, which has proven popular since its 2022 debut. A description states: "The show sees auctioneering experts join forces with masters of restoration to uncover neglected treasures in family homes which, with some TLC, can be turned into winning lots at auction." For the fifth series, specialists Izzie Balmer, JB Broad and Bee Harford return, alongside restoration professionals JJ Chalmers, Robin Johnson, Lauren Wood and Saf Fakir, reports Edinburgh Live. Specialist Izzie will also feature in the upcoming Antiques Road Trip series, going toe-to-toe with Mark Hill throughout a week's worth of episodes. Speaking about her dual role, Izzie remarked: "The Antiques Road Trip and Travelling Auctioneers teams have become like family to me. In fact, I sometimes see them more than my actual family.. "I wouldn't have it any other way though, because these shows are great fun, full of heart, and have just the right amount of jeopardy to keep you on the edge of your seat... without spilling your cuppa! I know how much they mean to our viewers and I'm thrilled to be back filming on them both." Muslim Alim, Commissioning Editor for BBC Daytime and Early Peak, expressed their excitement about the news: "These shows are TV gold packed with great stories, brilliant finds and led by experts in their field. "Antiques Road Trip and The Travelling Auctioneers have become firm favourites with our audiences and it's easy to see why: they're warm, feel-good and endlessly entertaining. Mark Hill - Mark is a popular antiques expert, TV presenter, author and publisher. He is known for both Antiques Road Trip and BBC's Antiques Roadshow. Away from his TV career and he previously worked at Sotheby's in London as a Specialist in their Collectors Department. Izzie Balmer - As well to her TV work, Steven Moore - Steven is known for being an antiques dealer, auctioneer and museum curator. He has also used his expertise in the past to write for a variety of magazines. Steven joined the Antiques Road Trip in 2020 and has also been an expert on BBC's Antiques Roadshow. Natasha Raskin Sharp - Natasha is an Antiques Road Trip expert with a passion for antiques and art. She was born in Glasgow in 1986 into a family of art collectors with her dad Philip Raskin being a successful artist. Irita Marriott - Irita is an antiques expert and dealer as well as being the founder of Irita Marriott Antiques. She is one of the latest BBC antiques expert on Antiques Road Trip and full time antiques dealer based in the UK. Charles Hanson - Charles chose a career in antiques because he has a love for history and enjoys the drama of an auction. He joined Raj Bisram - Raj is a British antiques expert and auctioneer. He co-founded Bentley's Fine Art and Antiques Auction House in Cranbrook, Kent in 1995. Philip Serrell - Philip says that he thinks antiques found him 'rather than the other way round'. He was approached by the Bargain Hunt series producer of the day and recorded the first Bargain Hunt filmed at Malvern in 1999. The dealer, who is David Harper - David is an antiques expert, artist, speaker and writer. He has gone on to make multiple TV appearances, with his first television role in 2005 as presenter of Channel 4's Natural Born Dealers. James Braxton - Ever since he was young, He founded the Fine Art Auction Group where he currently serves as director, responsible for running five auction rooms in the South of England. James has appeared in other hit TV shows including Bargain Hunt and Flog it! Roo Irvine - Roo, whose full name Arusha Irvine, is an antiques dealer and television presenter from Scotland. As well as Antiques Road Trip, she has also appeared on shows such as Bargain Hunt, Flipping Profit and the celebrity version of Antiques Road Trip. Tim Wonnacott - Timothy is an English chartered auctioneer, chartered surveyor, antiques expert, narrator, and a television presenter. He used to be a director of Sotheby's; one of the world's oldest auction houses. He has been the narrator of Antiques Road Trip since it began in 2010. Antiques Road Trip's Christina Trevanion's life off screen from 'unexpected' health scare to cancer heartbreak
Christina Trevanion's journey to BBC fame has not come without its ups an downs as we explore the life of the famous auctioneer and valuer... Christina Trevanion has become a well-known figure on the BBC's daytime programming, known for her appearances on popular antiques shows such as Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Show. The TV star's fascination with antiques began in her childhood, when she would visit various auctions with her parents. Her passion for antiques was sparked early on, inspired by her mother Hazel's own interest for vintage treasures and the story they hold. This shared interest led Christina to study Fine Art Valuation at Southampton Solent University, laying the foundation for her career in the field and on screens, the Express reports. In 2014, Christina transformed her lifelong passion into a successful profession by launching Trevanion Auctioneers & Valuers. The auction house quickly earned a strong reputation for quality and trust within the antiques industry. Over the years, Christina has established herself as a respected authority in the field. Her commitment and skills were formally acknowledged seven years ago when she became a member of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers (NAVA). Now that the BBC TV personality has returned to the daytime series, The Travelling Auctioneers, here is everything you need to know about Christina Trevanion - from her life off screen to her recent health scare. Christina's home and family life Christina made her first appearance on TV in 2013 as a valuer and researcher on the BBC show Flog It!. Since then, she has become a familiar face on several other fan favourite shows - Bargain Hunt, Antiques Road Trip and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is. According to her BBC profile, she lives in the gorgeous Shropshire countryside. While Christina prefers to keep her personal life out of the spotlight, it's known she is married to Aaron Dean, and the couple have two daughters together. She has previously described their family life as "noisy, hectic, and good fun" mentioning their dog named Welly. In a heartfelt post from 2019, Christina reflected on her wedding day and honoured the memory of her late father, David, who passed away in 2013. The year before, in 2018, she expressed her heartbreak on X (formally known as Twitter) while responding to a news headline about England having the "worst ever" cancer waiting times. She posted: 'My grandfather died from cancer. My father died from cancer. I have two close friends both currently suffering with cancer. Both on long waiting lists. Both getting poorlier. This headline is so desperately frustrating." Hospital scare In February 2024, The Travelling Auctioneers narrator sparked concern among fans after posting a photo from what appeared to be a hospital bed, revealing she had made an "unexpected" visit. Although she didn't disclose the reason for her hospital stay, the image showed her arm with a drip attached and a name tag around her wrist. Life outside of filming When Christina is not on the road for Antiques Road Trip or uncovering hidden treasures on Bargain Hunt, Christina loves to spend her downtime with her family and friends. "As a busy mum of two, with a full-time job and a part-time job, I don't get a lot of free time, so when I do it is spent with my family and friends, in my garden, at home," she previously told the BBC. Based on her instagram posts, Christina seems to have a love for the outdoors, posting photos of her relaxing in her flower-filled garden or on various trips across the world. Cornwall appears to be one of her favourite spots. In September, the TV star shared a snap of the stunning coast alongside the caption: "And breathe! A thalassophile in her happy place. Oh to be back in #Cornwall."
