Meanwhile, it's not just Kat and Alfie facing romantic turmoil. Yolande and Patrick's relationship hits rocky ground, Elaine reflects on her love life over drinks with the girls, and Joel's influence over Tommy takes a troubling turn… Here's a first look at next week in Walford with our new spoilers! Tensions are high at The Vic as Elaine struggles to contain her jealousy over George helping Cindy at The Albert. Just as the ice begins to thaw and Elaine surprises George with a gift honouring his boxing career, the peace is soon shattered when Junior bursts in and reveals that George secretly visited his mother, Sabrina, on Christmas night. George admits Sabrina kissed him, but insists he pulled away. Heartbroken by yet another lie, Elaine throws him out. George goes in search of Junior but instead finds Cindy, who offers a shoulder to cry on. Later, Elaine decides to find George but she's crushed to spot him and Cindy hugging on The Albert's balcony. Meanwhile, Kat is shaken after discovering an explicit video on Alfie's laptop still unaware that Tommy is actually the one who bought it. She decides to confide in Jean, fearing that Alfie's been turning to adult content as their bedroom life has been quiet since his cancer treatment. Later, Alfie plans a romantic dinner, but Kat decides to attempt to seduce him instead.. Caught off-guard, Alfie gently tries to slow things down, leaving Kat hurt, and she storms out. Vicki is left reeling when Amy reveals the real reason Joel is being iced out, confirming that Joel shamed Avani after sleeping with her, and now she's a victim of online bullying. Elsewhere, Yolande feels rejected when Patrick dodges giving her a massage, and Kim is left fuming as her plans for Kat and Alfie's big day aren't going to plan. After a tense night, Elaine takes a breather at the café to collect her thoughts. But things go from bad to worse when she returns to The Albert and Felix drops the bombshell that George and Cindy were seen leaving together, looking very cosy. Reeling, Elaine makes a mysterious phone call, inviting someone to join her. As she waits, a punter named Stephen tries his luck chatting her up, but he's swiftly put in his place when Drew Peacock arrives. Drew gives Elaine a much-needed pep talk. Inspired by his words, she makes a shocking decision that could change everything. Meanwhile, Kat is struggling to make sense of everything, with Jean urging her to talk openly with Alfie. At the same time, Patrick gives Alfie a nudge in the same direction. Eventually, Kat and Alfie sit down for an honest heart-to-heart and begin to bridge the distance between them. But when Kat brings up the explicit video she found on Alfie's laptop, he's baffled until it dawns on him that it must have been Tommy who bought it. Elsewhere, Vicki confides in Ross about Joel's behaviour toward Avani, and they both agree he needs better role models. Later, they're encouraged to see Joel helping Tommy with his wedding speech, hopeful that the budding friendship could steer him in a better direction. And over at No.20, Yolande opens up to Denise about her strained relationship with Patrick, admitting her fear that things between them may never go back to how they once were. It's the big day for Kat and Alfie, but worries about Tommy threaten to cast a dark cloud over their wedding celebrations. Alfie vows to have a serious talk with Tommy, but a string of unexpected setbacks keeps getting in the way, so Kat takes matters into her own hands. Later, Alfie admits he's made a mess of several important wedding preparations, leaving Kat feeling unsure, and she drops a bombshell… the wedding is off. Meanwhile, Denise steps in to support Yolande and Patrick as they navigate the rocky waters of their relationship. Elsewhere, Joel extends an invitation for Tommy to come over after the wedding. Kat's decision leaves Alfie crushed and furious, and he storms out of The Vic. Meanwhile, Elaine, Yolande, and Kat gather for a drink, comparing relationship problems, until Elaine drops some hard truths that shock them all. More Trending Alfie, meanwhile, receives an unexpected pep talk as he wrestles with whether he and Kat can get past this. Kat and Alfie finally sit down to talk. Could the wedding still be on? Huge EastEnders twist as George's whereabouts on Christmas finally revealed
The floor falls from beneath Elaine Knight's (Harriet Thorpe) feet in EastEnders next week, as she learns where her husband George (Colin Salmon) ran off to on Christmas Day. As viewers of the BBC soap will remember, every member of the Beale and Knight clans provided an alibi for their whereabouts on the festive evening. That was because wicked Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) had been viciously attacked with a snow shovel, and until February, nobody knew who was responsible. It later transpired that Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) was the culprit, but that left a lot of questions as to where everyone else was on the fateful night – and whether they were telling the truth. George told his family that he was partaking in an illegal underground boxing match, but also later asked brother Kojo (Dayo Koleosho) to back up his alibi. He then admitted to daughter Gina (Francesca Henry) that he wasn't at the fight. In scenes that air this week, Elaine is left furious when he helps out with Cindy's relaunch of The Prince Albert, and her rival karaoke party flops, and by this time next week, things aren't any better between the couple. Tension is simmering behind the bar at The Vic as she silently fumes over George lending a hand his ex-wife a hand with her re-opening. Elaine decides to show her husband how committed she is to him, and presents a touching gift honouring his boxing past. However, as they relish in happiness, his son Junior (Micah Balfour) storms in and drops a bombshell. At Christmas, George secretly visited his ex Sabrina – Junior's mum. An argument escalates when he admits that Sabrina kissed him, although he pushed her away. Elaine declares that she's had enough and throws him out of the family home. An emotional George heads out to find Junior to vent his frustration, but instead crosses paths with Cindy, who – perhaps conveniently – is there to offer a shoulder to cry on. Later, Elaine tries to make peace and goes looking for George… only to spot him on the balcony of The Albert in a very warm embrace with Cindy. Heartbroken, she retreats to the café to gather herself. But things go from bad to worse when she returns and Felix lets slip that George and Cindy left together. More Trending Believing that he has betrayed her, Elaine decides not to wallow in self pity and calls up someone for for a drink. While she waits, a cheeky punter named Stephen tries his luck, but is quickly brushed to one side by Elaine's old pal Drew Peacock (Paul Clayton), the drag queen who had a secret relationship with her late husband. Drew gives Elaine a much-needed pep talk, reminding her to remain strong and not let Cindy get her down. Boosted by Drew's words, Elaine makes a shocking decision. View More » What does she do? EastEnders exit as popular character makes unexpected departure
Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has made an unexpected temporary EastEnders exit. The character truly has seen it all in the 40 years since he first appeared on our screens as a fresh-faced teenager, so it's no wonder that he's decided to take a break. In the last six months he's discovered his ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) was cheating on him, and that his mother Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) attacked her with a snow shovel. With the revelation out in the open, Cindy then shot him, before pushing him in front of a car that ignited an explosion at The Queen Vic. In the aftermath she threatened to reveal her assault to the police – unless the Beales handed over their businesses. Kathy eventually caved and signed over The Prince Albert bar, unaware of the next big bombshell that was awaiting. Cindy had witnessed Kath's affair with Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman), and after grabbing the keys to the boozer, exposed the dalliance to all of their neighbours. Ian couldn't believe what his mother had been up to, and now has Harvey living under his roof. If the family drama wasn't bad enough, son Peter (Thomas Law) has struggled to bond with his newborn Jimmy after the youngster was diagnosed with a visual impairment. In tonight's episode, he felt uncomfortable hearing Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) talk so positively about his son's condition. His fiancée Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) noticed how he was reluctant to hold the baby, and staged an intervention with Cindy and Kathy. It was during the difficult conversation that Ian's absence was addressed. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? He's jetted to the other side of the world to catchup with some old mates – Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and Michelle Fowler (Susan Tully). More Trending Michelle has been based in Australia for a number of years, and Sharon went to stay with her in the wake of Martin Fowler's (James Bye) death. She initially went to visit her granddaughter Alyssa, but has since made her quick exit into some sort of world tour, with Ian along for the ride! Back in Walford, things were escalating between Peter and Lauren, with her leaving him alone with the baby while she tried to score a drink at The Vic. Thankfully, nobody would serve her, so she found comfort elsewhere. Zack Hudson (James Farrar) was on hand to offer some advice, and the two ended up kissing. EastEnders scandal in early iPlayer release as unexpected characters kiss
This article contains spoilers for tonight's episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Two Albert Square locals have shared a shock kiss – and it's not the first time they've got together. The instalment kicked off with problems at the Beale-Branning residence, with Peter (Thomas Law) continuing to struggle to bond with his young son Jimmy following his visual impairment diagnosis. Hearing Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) speak so positively about the youngster's disability was uncomfortable for him to hear, and he rushed out onto a run to clear his head. Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) noticed his discomfort, especially when their neighbours rallied around to support them both. She wasn't the only one who had clocked how much Peter was struggling – his mum Cindy (Michelle Collins) and grandmother Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) put their issues to one side to stage an intervention. During their conversation, Lauren became emotional, explaining that Peter clearly doesn't want to look at either her or Jimmy, and that he isn't supporting her. After lashing out, stating that he's the breadwinner, Peter confessed that he blamed Lauren for Jimmy's impairment as a result of her drug addiction during pregnancy. Kathy felt that he took a step too far, and told him to leave. However, before he had chance, Lauren slung the baby monitor at him and entered self destruct mode. She stormed into The Vic and demanded a vodka from Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), who refused to let her relapse. Before Lauren had opportunity to grab a drink at Harry's Barn, Linda pre-warned Gina Knight (Francesca Henry). Alone, he began to sing to the child, unaware what was happening a few doors away. More Trending After finding Lauren in a state of despair, Zack Hudson (James Farrar) brought her to his flat, and the pair kissed. EastEnders split confirmed for major couple as a family is torn apart
It's been a difficult time for EastEnders' Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law) lately, but things are set to turn nasty between them next week when their relationship hits the rocks. The couple were devastated last month when doctors informed them that their baby son Jimmy had been born severely sight-impaired. Lauren initially blamed herself for Jimmy's diagnosis, believing it was caused by her painkiller addiction while she was pregnant, but gained a fresh perspective after some meaningful conversations with Stacey and Lily Slater (Lacey Turner and Lillia Turner). However, Peter's struggle to come to terms with the news is set to rip their family apart in forthcoming scenes. On Monday, an increasingly distant Peter dismisses Lauren's pleas to join her and local well-wishers in the Square, prompting his warring mum and gran Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) to put aside their feud to try and help the couple. But Lauren is left devastated when Peter later turns around and blames her for Jimmy's health. Peter's harsh words push recovering alcoholic Lauren to the brink of a relapse, and she heads to both The Vic and Harry's Barn for a drink but is refused service. After Peter finally bonds with his newborn son following Cindy's encouragement, he heads to the hospital without Lauren for an appointment about Jimmy, where he is warmed by an encounter with a fellow patient. However, Peter's positivity is quickly ruined when he returns home and discovers Lauren has almost relapsed. After a huge row, Peter breaks up with Lauren and hits her with the bombshell that he's going to fight for custody of their sons. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Desperate not to see her family further ripped apart, Kathy manages to persuade Peter to make amends with Lauren, and eventually the pair put aside their differences. More Trending But as it becomes clear Lauren is hiding something, a suspicious Peter heads to The Vic to ask solicitor Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) about custody advice. Unfortunately, Honey overhears and tells Lauren, who then heads to No.45 to officially end things with Peter… Is this the start of a bitter battle between them? And could this pave the way for the long-awaited return of Lauren's dad Max Branning (Jake Wood)?
