EastEnders split confirmed for major couple as a family is torn apart

Metro2 days ago

It's been a difficult time for EastEnders' Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) and Peter Beale (Thomas Law) lately, but things are set to turn nasty between them next week when their relationship hits the rocks.
The couple were devastated last month when doctors informed them that their baby son Jimmy had been born severely sight-impaired.
Lauren initially blamed herself for Jimmy's diagnosis, believing it was caused by her painkiller addiction while she was pregnant, but gained a fresh perspective after some meaningful conversations with Stacey and Lily Slater (Lacey Turner and Lillia Turner).
However, Peter's struggle to come to terms with the news is set to rip their family apart in forthcoming scenes.
On Monday, an increasingly distant Peter dismisses Lauren's pleas to join her and local well-wishers in the Square, prompting his warring mum and gran Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth) to put aside their feud to try and help the couple.
But Lauren is left devastated when Peter later turns around and blames her for Jimmy's health.
Peter's harsh words push recovering alcoholic Lauren to the brink of a relapse, and she heads to both The Vic and Harry's Barn for a drink but is refused service.
After Peter finally bonds with his newborn son following Cindy's encouragement, he heads to the hospital without Lauren for an appointment about Jimmy, where he is warmed by an encounter with a fellow patient.
However, Peter's positivity is quickly ruined when he returns home and discovers Lauren has almost relapsed.
After a huge row, Peter breaks up with Lauren and hits her with the bombshell that he's going to fight for custody of their sons.

Desperate not to see her family further ripped apart, Kathy manages to persuade Peter to make amends with Lauren, and eventually the pair put aside their differences. More Trending
But as it becomes clear Lauren is hiding something, a suspicious Peter heads to The Vic to ask solicitor Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff) about custody advice.
Unfortunately, Honey overhears and tells Lauren, who then heads to No.45 to officially end things with Peter…
Is this the start of a bitter battle between them? And could this pave the way for the long-awaited return of Lauren's dad Max Branning (Jake Wood)?

Paloma Faith 'bullied at school' as Natalie Cassidy says star 'tormented her'

A claim by Paloma Faith saying she was bullied at school has resurfaced after she was accused of bullying EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy at Islington Green School Paloma Faith has said she too was bullied at school as EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy claimed the musician picked on her. The pair both attended Islington Green School, with the songstress a year above the actress. Recently, Natalie claimed Paloma had tormented her at school, but revealed she is now gutted about the interaction. The soap star recently spoke on her podcast Life With Nat about growing up with Paloma. ‌ She claimed: "Paloma Faith, she bullied me at school. She went to Islington Green and was in the year above me. We've spoken about it and she has said sorry about that. Gutted." ‌ Now, a previous post on Twitter /X by Paloma has resurfaced, which shows the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer saying she too was targeted at the London school. The upload from 2012 read: "Yes I got bullied at school. I had braces and before that, wonky teeth." Speaking of her school experience, Paloma previously told The Standard how her teachers helped her in her career growing up. "They were very encouraging to me. I was put in the Hackney Gazette because it was a failing school and I got all As at GCSE." She went on to say she didn't receive any formal musical training despite her school days inspiring her creative nature. "I did it all myself," she claimed at the time. "I had no famous parents, no stage school, no BRIT School." Now, Paloma admits that despite her huge success, she has no fears of being cancelled. In March, she explained that she believes her upbringing has placed her 'on the right side of ethics and morals' and that she can navigate 'cancel culture' with ease. ‌ The star believes her frank views and wild tales won't land her in trouble. She explained to The Sun in March how she avoids scandal, declaring: "I'm not worried about being cancelled at all. "I am pretty cocky about my morals and my ethics. I feel like my politics and everything I've done is OK. ‌ "I was raised by a socialist in a multicultural environment, with gay, straight, trans, drag queens, everyone, all around me." She continued: "Most people getting called out are straight white men, isn't it? They deserve it. "You can't just go around grabbing people's bums and dropping drugs in women's drinks or f***ing shouting homophobic abuse at people and then not expect it to come back on you."

Another standout moment of the ceremony was Sir David Jason taking to the stage to present the coveted Best Soap award. The Only Fools and Horses star, 85, cut a dapper figure in a classic black suit and bow tie as he announced EastEnders as the winner. It capped off a good night for the residents of Walford, with the BBC soap coming out the victor of this year's awards with a whopping eight wins. Following in their wake was Hollyoaks with three gongs, Emmerdale two and Coronation Street only receiving one win on the night. Small Scottish distillery wins international award for wood-fired drink

A small Lowlands distillery has won gold for its wood-fired unaged spirit, scoring 96 points for its depth, clarity and character. A small Scottish distillery tucked away in the Lowlands has struck gold on the international stage, quite literally. Moffat Distillery, based in Dumfries and Galloway, is celebrating a major milestone after its Moffat Moonshine scooped a prestigious gold medal at the 2025 International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC). The award comes just as the distillery prepares for its highly anticipated first whisky release. ‌ The unaged spirit, described by the distillery as a 'wood-fired, unaged spirit made entirely in Dumfries & Galloway ', earned an impressive 96 points, with judges praising its 'depth, clarity and character.' ‌ That's a remarkable result for what is essentially the debut offering from the fledgling distillery. 'This is a huge moment for our small team,' said founder Nick Bullard. 'Moffat Moonshine is where our journey begins, raw, honest and full of character. "We're proud it's been recognised on a global stage and we hope it puts our small but perfectly-formed corner of Scotland on the spirits map.' Moffat Distillery is no ordinary producer. It claims to be the first and only distillery in Scotland to heat its stills using wood fires, a method not seen in over 200 years. With an output of just 6,000 litres per year, the distillery prides itself on sustainable, small-scale production. ‌ Sharing their excitement in a social media post, the team wrote: 'We've just won a Gold medal! Our Moffat Moonshine has been recognised by the IWSC, a huge honour for our wee distillery. 'This is a win not just for us, but for everyone who's supported us along the way, from those who've shared a dram, to our brilliant partners at Crisp Malt, WHC Lab, and Camlachie Cooperage.' ‌ The award-winning Moffat Moonshine has been bottled at two strengths, 48.5% and a fiery cask strength of 61.25% ABV. Distilled in the open air, the team say each run carries its own unique character, with the spirit matured in ex-Oloroso Sherry casks for just seven months. 'Not wanting to drown our own spirit's character in sherry, we decided to bottle the fiery potion when we felt it was ready,' the distillery says on its website. In 2018, it released The Moffat Blended Malt Scotch, and more blends from its Local Dram series are on the way. These unique creations are developed in close collaboration with local people, drawing on regional culture, history, geography and language to produce a dram that truly reflects the character of its community. 'We create unique recipes,' the distillery explains. 'We source our spirit directly from producers, avoiding the secondary market, since consistency and authenticity of supply are vital to the brand.' All bottling is currently done under contract, and each blend is dressed in bespoke packaging designed by a local artist, echoing the spirit of the community behind it.
