Saudi Capital Guest of Honor as Riyadh Pavilion Opens at Buenos Aires Book Fair
The Saudi Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission officially launched the Riyadh pavilion at the 49th Buenos Aires International Book Fair in Argentina. The event, running from April 22 to May 12, features the Saudi capital as the guest of honor. The commission leads Riyadh's participation in the fair, with a Saudi delegation that reflects the vibrant cultural and literary scene in Saudi Arabia with representatives from the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, the Heritage Commission, and the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance. The King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, and the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) are also represented, alongside the King Abdulaziz Public Library and the King Fahad National Library. Together, they aim to create a window for the fair's audience to experience Saudi culture, attracting visitors from Argentina and around the world, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported. The Riyadh pavilion enhances the Saudi cultural presence in Latin America, introducing the capital as a model of civilization that reflects the transformative Saudi Vision 2030, SPA said. It features a diverse array of literary and cultural content, including translations into Spanish to help build bridges of cultural understanding, it added. Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission chief executive Abdullatif Alwasel, Buenos Aires Chief of Government Jorge Macri, Buenos Aires' Minister of Culture Gabriela Ricardes, and Argentina's Fundación El Libro (the Book Foundation) president, Christian Rainone, witnessed the launch of the Riyadh pavilion.

Saudi Theater Commission launches its Work and Learn Project in UK
Saudi Gazette report LONDON — The Theater and Performing Arts Commission announced the launch of the third edition of the Work and Learn International Track project, selecting 25 theater trainees to attend a four-week training program at Production Park in London from April 21 to May 16, 2025. The project aims to develop their practical skills in artistic fields such as lighting, sound, set design, costume design, and theatrical performance management. It aims to foster local talent by integrating it with international expertise and introducing them to advanced, global techniques through working on shows that utilize modern technologies. The training program will conclude with a comprehensive theatrical performance performed by the trainees, both male and female, in collaboration with the production team. This is a practical step toward applying what they have learned in an experience that combines training and production. This initiative is an extension of the Theater and Performing Arts Commission' strategy to empower national talent, develop the sector's infrastructure, and transfer the latest international practices and expertise to the local market. This will enhance the competitiveness of Saudi theater and enable trainees to acquire the modern skills required by the labor market in the fields of theater and performing Theater and Performing Arts Commission is concerned with all types of performing arts: theater, dance, circus performances, improvisational comedy, street performances, movement performances, ballet, and opera. It's also includes activating theaters, ensuring the quality of the content presented, encouraging abundant production, and spreading the culture of performing arts so that it becomes a fundamental component of national Park, the industry-leading hub where global tours are rehearsed and productions brought to life, is making its most significant investment yet with a major expansion of its facilities. By 2025, the campus will grow to a remarkable 145,000 square feet of state-of-the-art studio space, solidifying its position as the largest production studio campus in the North of England.

‘Bahr' play brings maritime heritage to Baha in Theater Tour initiative
RIYADH: The three-day Theater Tour initiative ended on Saturday at the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Theater in Baha, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Organized by the Theater and Performing Arts Commission, the event attracted a large audience for the award-winning play 'Bahr' (Sea). Inspired by maritime heritage, 'Bahr' explores the traditions of sailors' lives, particularly diving and pearl hunting. The production is part of the commission's strategy to promote culture across the Kingdom, according to the SPA. Nasser Al-Qasabi, chairman of the commission, thanked the governor of Baha for supporting the initiative and providing the resources for its launch in the region. The Theater Tour initiative brings exceptional performances to cities, governorates and villages throughout the Kingdom. The first phase features 'Bahr,' running from April 3 to May 3. The production debuted in Baha from April 3-5. It now moves to Jubail from April 17-19, Dammam from April 24-26 and concludes in Al-Ahsa from May 1-3. The project aims to raise awareness of theater, increase access to cultural services in underserved areas and support local theater groups. Written by Abdulrahman Al-Marikhi and directed by Sultan Al-Nawa, 'Bahr' has won several awards, including best actor, best script and best overall production at the Riyadh Theater Festival, as well as best musical effects and best director at the 19th Gulf Theater Festival.
