Oman Crown Prince Ties The Knot In A Royal Ceremony
Crown Prince Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said of Oman, the eldest son of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, celebrated his marriage last Thursday in a private ceremony at Al Alam Palace in Muscat, attended by members of the royal family. Images of the event, showing Crown Prince Sayyid Theyazin with Sultan Haitham and Her Highness Ahad bint Abdullah, were circulated on royal news platforms shortly after the ceremony. The Crown Prince, who currently serves as Oman's Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, holds the distinction of being the first to bear the title of Crown Prince in the country's modern history. The title was introduced following a 2021 amendment to Oman's Basic Law. His bride, Alya bint Mohammed bin Hilal Al Busaidiyah, belongs to one of Oman's prominent families. Her uncle, Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, serves as the governor of Muscat. The marriage follows a public announcement of the Crown Prince's engagement earlier this year, made by his aunt, Ma'ani Al Busaidiyah, via a brief social media post in January 2025. At the time, no further details about the bride were disclosed. Crown Prince Theyazin was previously married to his cousin, Mayan bint Shihab Al Said, though that marriage ended in early 2022 without an official statement regarding the separation. Educated in the United Kingdom, Theyazin earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a master's degree in history from the University of Oxford. He later graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in July 2022, one of Britain's most prestigious military institutions. The Crown Prince began his career at Oman's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2013 and later served as Second Secretary at the Omani Embassy in London. In August 2020, he was appointed Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth. Known for his strong support for youth initiatives and cultural and sporting events, he plays an active role in national activities such as Oman Youth Day and the Sultan's Cup for football.
