Thom Kane, 56, was last seen in the Eldon Street area of Greenock around 7.30am on Thursday, April 24. Sadly, a body was found in the Atholl Road area of Pitlochry, Perthshire, yesterday afternoon at around 1.10pm. Formal identification has not been carried out but Thom's family has been informed. Cops said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a body having been found in the Atholl Road area of Pitlochry, around 1.10pm on Sunday, 27 April, 2025. "Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Thom Kane, who was reported missing from Greenock, has been informed. "There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

Body found in search for missing Scot as family told of tragedy
A body has been found in the search for a missing man who vanished in Greenock four days ago. Thom Kane , 56, was last seen in the Eldon Street area of the town at around 7.30am on Thursday, April 24. Officers said there were concerns for his welfare and they appealed for information. Sadly, police have now confirmed they were made aware of a body having been found in the Atholl Road area in Pitlochry at around 1.10pm on Sunday. Formal identification has yet to take place, however Thom's heartbroken family have been informed. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances relating to the death . A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a body having been found in the Atholl Road area of Pitlochry, around 1.10pm on Sunday, April 27, 2025. "Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Thom Kane, who was reported missing from Greenock, has been informed. "There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal." Police previously said they believed Thom may have travelled to the Fort William area in a silver Volvo V60 Cross Country. Inspector Ross Wilson, of Greenock Police Station, said last week: 'It is out of character for Thom to be out of contact with his family and friends and we are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare. 'We are carrying out extensive enquiries and would urge anyone who has seen Thom, his vehicle, or who has any information on his whereabouts to please get in touch.'
