Man gets 20 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting 14-year-old girl
The special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act cases on Thursday announced 20 years rigorous imprisonment to a man who sexually assaulted a minor girl. According to prosecution, G. Yonas, 25, of Terespuram was arrested by the Thoothukudi All Women Police in 2024 under POCSO Act after he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl. The POCSO special court judge Preetha also slapped a fine of ₹10,000 on Yonas. The judge directed the government to pay ₹5 lakh to the victim's family. Police team feted Superintendent of Police Albert John felicitated then Inspector of All Women Police Station and Investigating Officer of this case Shanthakumari, advocate Muthulakshmi and head-constable Rabila Kumari on Thursday for ensuring the conviction of the accused. The SP also honoured 22 police personnel attached to the cyber crime and law and order wings for their performance in seizing ganja, attaching the properties of ganja smugglers and peddlers, and ensuring the conviction of the accused in these cases.

Man awarded life imprisonment in POCSO case
The Special Court for POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act Cases has awarded life imprisonment to a man for sexually assaulting a minor girl. According to prosecution, T. Rajkumar, 35, of Sottaiyanthoppu on Thoothukudi outskirts sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in 2019 and was arrested by the Thoothukudi All Women Police under POCSO Act based on the complaint from the victim. The Special Court POCSO Act Cases Judge Preetha awarded life imprisonment to Rajkumar on Tuesday. The Judge also slapped a fine of ₹10,000 on him.
