Rajiv Gandhi is the true architect of decentralisation: Thrissur DCC president
Only Rajiv Gandhi can be credited as the true architect of India's Panchayati Raj system and decentralisation of power, Thrissur District Congress Committee (DCC) president Joseph Tajet has said. He was inaugurating a seminar titled 'Rajiv Gandhi and Decentralisation of Power,' held in connection with Rajiv Gandhi Martyrdom Day organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Panjayati Raj Sangathan here on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Tajet highlighted Rajiv Gandhi's tireless efforts to ensure people's participation in governance and developmental planning. 'He worked relentlessly to realise Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj,' Tajet said, crediting the former Prime Minister for laying the foundation of local self-governance in its modern form.
Rajiv Gandhi Panjayati Raj Sangathan district chairperson Anil Pulikkal presided over the session, while writer and orator P.V. Krishnan Nair delivered the keynote address, elaborating on Rajiv Gandhi's legacy in decentralisation. United Democratic Front district chairperson T.V. Chandramohan was the chief guest.
