Stoke City Closes in on RS Berkane's Lamine Camara

RS Berkane star Lamine Camara is close to joining Stoke City, after a swift agreement between the two clubs, during the current summer transfer window. Camara, 21-years-old, made 25 appearances in Morocco's Botola during the 2024–25 campaign, participated in nine Confederation Cup matches, and had a single appearance in the Throne Cup. The Senegalese midfielder has already arrived in England, as scheduled, to undergo his medical examination with Stoke City, before finalizing the deal. As reported by Micky Jnr, the contract offer for Lamine Camara is a four-year deal. RS Berkane wants €4–5 million for Camara, making it one of the biggest deals in the club's history. Yet the player's market value is estimated at €1.4 million on Transfer Market. The talented Senegalese midfielder played a pivotal role in RS Berkane, winning both the league title and the CAF Confederation Cup, in addition to being voted as the Best Foreign Player in the Moroccan league for the 2024–25 season. Camara has represented Senegal at every level — U17, U20, U23, and he now plays with the senior national team. With his impressive record he has taken the interest of many clubs, including Crystal Palace, Fenerbahçe, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Udinese, and Bologna. Tags: Lamine CamaraRS BerkaneStoke City

Moroccan Football Legend Ahmed Faras Passes Away Aged 78

Rabat — Morocco's football family mourned today the loss of Ahmed Faras, a true icon of Moroccan football who passed away at the age of 78 following a battle with illness. Faras left a lasting legacy behind in Moroccan sports history, both for his city's club and the national team. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation had been covering his medical expenses in recognition of his invaluable contributions to national football. Faras left a legacy and indelible mark on the history of Moroccan football, both at Mohammedia club and the national team level. Loyal to SC Chabab Mohammedia throughout his career, he is the epitome of sporting loyalty. From his debut in 1964 until his retirement in 1982, he spent 17 years defending the colors of his hometown club, leading it to the top of the national championship in 1980. A formidable striker, a fine technician and a leader on the pitch, Faras shone with his eye for goal and elegance. Top scorer in the league in 1969 and 1973, winner of the Throne Cup twice in 1972, 1975, he also offered his club the National Supercup in 1975 and a Maghreb consecration by winning the Maghreb Cup Winners' Cup in 1973. But it was with the Moroccan national team that Faras became a true legend. An exemplary captain, he took part in the 1970 World Cup in Mexico, Morocco's first appearance in the competition. The iconic player made history as the first Moroccan player to win the African Golden Ball in 1975. Faras also led Morocco's Atlas Lions to their only Africa Cup of Nations victory in Ethiopia in 1976, winning the title of best player of the competition, confirming his status as a benchmark of African football. Raja Casablanca Close to Signing Mouhcine Bouriga

Raja Casablanca are closing in on the signing of Moroccan forward Mouhcine Bouriga. The 25-year-old, who came through the ranks at Renaissance Zemamra, spent last season with FC Sion in the Swiss Super League, scoring once in 22 appearances. According to Africafoot, negotiations between Raja and FC Sion, the player's current club, have accelerated significantly in recent days, with the official signing now a matter of final details. Bouriga has rejected a loan move to Maghreb Fez and turned down a $400,000 loan offer from AS FAR. Raja have since moved quickly to secure the striker. The Casablanca club is keen to bolster their squad following a disappointing season in the Botola Pro League and Throne Cup, while Bouriga views the move as an ideal chance to regain form and revive his career. Wydad Sign In-Demand Talented Playmaker Lamirate

Wydad Athletic Club have completed the signing of Olympique de Safi midfielder Abdelghafour Lamirate on a three-year deal, following the expiry of his contract. The 27-year-old joins on a free transfer after playing a key role in OCS's Throne Cup win over RS Berkane. Lamirate had been in talks with several clubs, including Raja Casablanca and RS Berkane in recent weeks, but negotiations stalled – clearing the way for Wydad to finalise the deal swiftly. Since joining OCS in 2021 from Ben Guerir, Lamirate established himself as a key figure, dictating the rhythm between attack and defence and earning the trust of his coaches. In a farewell post on Facebook, Lamirate wrote: 'To the dear fans of Asfi… You are the true heart of this team. Your love and support have always been my primary motivation on the field. Your words, your chants, your loyalty… all of this has given me strength in the toughest moments.' Lamirate is expected to join Wydad's pre-season training camp in the coming days as the club look to bounce back from a trophyless campaign. Tags: botola prorajaRS Berkanewydad
