If approved, it would be great news for latte lovers stopping by for their bargain shop. Lidl are set to open up a huge new shop in THREE vacant units at the retail hub. Shoppers will be able to get their caffeine fix after stocking up on bargain goods if councillors give the Starbucks the green light. A new Greggs also opened at the shopping centre last year, giving more snack options for punters. The super Lidl was finally approved last year after a planning battle with the council. Construction on the superstore finally started in January. It comes just weeks after the coffee chain revealed their summer menu for customers, which included a range of Tiramisu-themed drinks. We previously told how Starbucks announced they were closing one of their stores on a Scottish high street. Saddened coffee drinkers expressed their disappointment and said it was another nail in the coffin of their town centre. Starbucks fans 'fuming' over limited-time Snoopy cups as fans blast chain 'why not in the US?' It was also revealed that a Starbucks is set to open in a trendy Glasgow neighbourhood. But not everyone was happy with the announcement.

The coffee chain, which has been brewing since the 1970s, unveiled a fresh range of drinks yesterday (April 24). The new offerings are available to Rewards members now, while non-reward members can sample the updated menu from May 1. Prices vary from £2.90 to £5.40, with a few surprises thrown into the mix. However, opinions on the new beverages are divided. Drawing inspiration from the classic Italian dessert, Starbucks is adding three Tiramisu-themed drinks to its menu, promising to bring an "bringing an innovative twist" to a trending summer favourite. The new additions include the Tiramisu Cream Iced Latte, Tiramisu Cream Iced Oat Shaken Espresso, and Tiramisu Frappuccino blended beverage. From May 1, customers can also enjoy two new Starbucks Refresha drinks for the "ultimate cooling sip this summer". The Melon Pearl Starbucks Refresha drink, which has been a hit in the US, is making its debut on the UK menu. For those seeking a more tropical vibe, the Frozen Mango Dragonfruit Starbucks Refresha drink, blended with ice, offers the perfect frosty treat to chill out and unwind under the summer sun. With summer on the horizon, Starbucks is also offering its customers new plant-based lunch options to enjoy alongside their warmer-weather beverages. The menu now includes a Mexican Style Three Bean Wrap and popular bakery items like the Boston Cream Muffin and Raspberry and Coconut Loaf Cake, perfect for those leisurely summer snack breaks outdoors. The announcement of Starbucks' updated menu quickly spread after being featured on the food enthusiast Instagram page New Foods UK, drawing plenty of reactions from followers. @newfoodsuk excitedly posted: "Wow! New drinks spotted on the @starbucksuk app this morning!". One follower exclaimed "Omg," clearly thrilled by the news, while another expressed an interest: "Need those oat shaken ones," Another suggested a social meetup: "Coffee date soon? ," tagging their companion in anticipation. One sceptically remarked: "Not once have I thought I would like to have a dessert blended with coffee." Another was taken aback by the cost, quipping: "£5.45 each". Health-conscious voices also emerged, with one person expressing disappointment at the calorie count: "I'm a little disappointed that the Tiramisu Oat Shaken is four times the calories of the normal one." This sentiment was echoed by another customer, who wrote: "Put calories next to these images and that's it... it's a NO GO". The range includes dessert-inspired drinks that have never been seen before. 5 From April 24, Starbucks Rewards members can get their hands on three new Tiramisu-themed drinks, ahead of the full launch to all customers on May 1. Inspired by the classic Italian pudding, the range includes a Tiramisu Cream Iced Latte worth £4.95, and a Tiramisu Cream Iced Oat Shaken Espresso, and a Tiramisu Frappuccino that will both set you back £5.05. Each one is made with vanilla mascarpone flavour sauce, finished with a mocha drizzle, and topped with a creamy cold foam dusted with cocoa powder. The drinks start from £4.95 – and are designed to give a sweet twist to your usual caffeine hit. But the sweet stuff doesn't stop there. Also arriving next week is the new Melon Pearl Starbucks Refresha, packed with popping melon pearls, and the Frozen Mango Dragonfruit Refresha, a tropical ice-blended drink loaded with fruit flavour. The fruity sips come in from £4.75 – but be warned, the melon pearls could pose a choking hazard for young children. The menu isn't just about drinks either. Customers who aren't already members can sign up to Starbucks Rewards via the app to get early access and collect points for freebies. The full menu hits stores nationwide from May 1 – but it's only available while stocks last. REWARDS SHAKE-UP Starbucks made a big change to its rewards scheme back in January. The updated programme promised that customers would be able to earn free drinks more quickly, but they would need to spend more to qualify for other perks. Additionally, while freebies became easier to obtain, achieving "gold" membership status became more challenging. When announcing the changes, Starbucks said: "We will be switching up your Stars from 3 per £1 to 10 per £1! "We're updating the Starbucks Rewards program in the new year. "Introducing new products and tiers for Star redemption and refining Gold Level status, including amending the Gold Level threshold to 2500 Stars. "Meanwhile, your Star value, credit, any free drinks and Reward status remain the same throughout the update." The company also reassured customers that Stars would still be redeemable for up to two years and could now be used across a wider range of items.
