Traffic diversions for Krishna Jamnashtami in Thane, Navi Mumbai
NAVI MUMBAI: The Thane City police have announced major traffic diversions in the Kapurbawdi subdivision ahead of the Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at ISKCON Temple, Piramal Vaikunth, on August 16. Traffic diversions (PIXABAY) Authorities estimate that around 40,000–50,000 devotees will attend the event, which will also see the presence of government leaders, politicians, and senior government officials. The restrictions, which will remain in force till 11pm on August 16, seek to ensure smooth traffic flow. Key roads, including stretches along Kolset Road, Ram Maruti Road, Pipeline Road, and approaches from Balkum Naka, Dadlani Chowk, and Yashaswinagar, will see entry prohibitions, and alternative routes will be marked. Emergency vehicles such as police, fire brigade, ambulances, and oxygen carriers will be exempted from the restrictions, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Pankaj Shirsat. The Navi Mumbai traffic police have also announced traffic restrictions and a no-parking order in Kharghar from August 15 to 17 in view of the large-scale celebrations planned for Shri Krishna Janmashtami at the ISKCON Temple in Sector 23. According to officials, lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the temple during the three-day festivities, which could lead to severe traffic congestion in the area. To ensure smooth vehicular movement, DCP (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade issued an order prohibiting the entry of vehicles — except police and essential service vehicles — on the stretch from Central Park Service Road to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company in Sector 23. Alternative routes have been suggested for motorists approaching from Hiranandani Signal, via Utsav Chowk, Gram Vikas Bhavan Chowk, Green Heritage Circle, and onwards to Central Park Service Road.

Shutdown near IKEA on Thane-Belapur Road, Navi Mumbai traffic police announce diversions
Navi Mumbai commuters can expect massive traffic disruption this week as the Belapur bound section of Thane-Belapur Road adjacent to the outlet of furniture major IKEA will be fully closed for concreting operations. The shutdown, by the Navi Mumbai traffic department, began Thursday and will end on May 14 midnight. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is undertaking the work as part of its ongoing infrastructure development projects. As part of the works the three lane Belapur bound stretch will be completely shut. Traffic on the three lanes of the Thane bound stretch will however remain open. To control traffic and prevent large-scale jams during the shutdown, the city traffic police have implemented diversions. For vehicles coming from Thane that are heading to Belapur the stretch between Savita Chemical and Turbhe railway station will be closed off for all vehicles until the work is completed. Traffic officials have already mapped out the diversion routes. Light vehicles coming from Thane, as per the official announcement, will be routed away from the Fire Brigade signal at Mahape, through Sector 26 of APMC Market and onto Palm Beach Road to head towards their destinations. For the heavy vehicles coming from Thane side, two different diversion routes have been earmarked. The first route includes taking a left turn from the Fire Brigade Signal at Mahape and traversing the Turbhe MIDC locality. The second route demands the left turn from below the Savita Chemical Bridge and once more directs traffic via Turbhe MIDC. Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Tirupati Kakade issued the official directive based on a report filed by the senior police inspector of the Turbhe traffic division. The action falls within the Motor Vehicles Act and applicable state government guidelines. 'The measure is a move to ensure a smooth and lasting improvement of roads. We call upon all drivers to adhere to the diversion boards, cooperate with traffic officials, and schedule travel to avoid being inconvenienced,' said a Navi Mumbai traffic department official. The traffic department has vowed to ensure a smooth traffic flow and reduce inconvenience to commuters during this much-needed road improvement.
