Snoop Dogg and Modric put Swansea 'in different league'
Chief executive Tom Gorringe says Swansea City are anticipating bigger sponsorship deals thanks to the involvement of Luka Modric and Snoop Dogg. Former Balon d'Or winner Modric became an investor and co-owner at Swansea in April, with rapper Snoop Dogg following suit last month. Gorringe says the arrival of two such high-profile figures has made Swansea "interesting and exciting to people outside the city". "Luka and Snoop have brought a whole load of additional attention to the football club and that provides a huge amount of opportunity," Gorringe said at a fans' forum held at the Stadium on Wednesday. "I think we have done a really good job of maximising what we can do on a local basis but now the parameters have moved. "It puts us in front of different companies, different brands, and allows us to tell an authentic story to people we wouldn't have been able to get in front of before. "We have already had discussions with brands about significant deals which would eclipse anything we have done in the past." Gorringe said Modric and Snoop Dogg will not have specific roles at Swansea, but that both are "really keen to do whatever they can to help". He said both new faces will visit Wales at some point in 2025-26 to watch Alan Sheehan's side in Championship action. "They have both come in without ego, without expectation and just with the best faith to do whatever they can to make things better," Gorringe said. "They are both contactable all the time and they want to find a way that can improve us as a football club. "It puts us in a different league in terms of some of the things that we are able to do." Swansea's owners, led by American duo Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, had been keen to bring big names on board in order to increase the club's global brand. They have been inspired by the huge progress made at Wrexham since the north Wales club's takeover by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. With profit and sustainability rules dictating much of what the club are able to do, Swansea say the goal is to improve their ability to strengthen on the pitch by increasing commercial revenue.

Swansea City set for massive sponsorship deal as plans for fans' village emerge
Swansea City set for massive sponsorship deal as plans for fans' village emerge The Swans chief was in attendance at the latest Fan Forum Swansea City chief executive officer (CEO) Tom Gorringe is excited by the club's potential commercial opportunities (Image: Huw Evans) Swansea City CEO Tom Gorringe has told supporters the investment of Snoop Dogg and Luka Modric has left the club hopeful of landing commercial deals that will 'eclipse anything we've done in the past'. He also admits a 'Welcome to Wrexham' style documentary is something the club are considering as they look to further raise their profile. The arrival of hip-hop megastar Snoop Dogg, and Ballon d'Or winner Modric has already created a big buzz around the club this summer, with Gorringe previously admitting their involvement would help to take their commercial dealings up to the next level. Facing supporters at the recent Swansea City Fan Forum, Gorringe says having the pair on board has helped push the club into the gaze of new and exciting potential commercial partners, which he hopes will come as a big boost to City's revenue, and in turn make them more competitive on the pitch. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here. "In terms of commercial opportunities, there's a huge opportunity for us to improve there," he said. "We've done a really good job of maximising what we could do on a local basis. "But now the parameters have moved and it puts us in front of different companies, different brands and allows us to tell an authentic story to the people that we couldn't have been able to get in front of before. Article continues below "We've already had discussions with brands about significant deals that would eclipse anything we've done in the past. "So that is a core focus around what we're doing, with that in mind. Obviously we have to review where our current assets are and how we can utilise anything we've got in the stadium and, outside of that, to try and bring revenue to the football club. "Ultimately that makes us more competitive of the pitch." Speculation has swirled that the club are set to follow the likes of Wrexham and Birmingham City in creating a new documentary to help further extend the club's reach to fresh audiences, and Gorringe admits it's one of several possibilities being considered. "I've been asked that quite a lot," he said. "We've said all along the interest we're now attracting is providing opportunities. "Documentaries will be one of those, but it's for us to consider the benefits of the opportunities, the commercial models and see if it's something we want to do. "I think now we're seeing that it's a saturated market as well, so if we were to do one, we would have to be true to us, it would have to be authentic to the club and the city, and not just a remake of what some other clubs are doing." Another possible development is the creation of a fan village behind the south-east corner of the Stadium, with the club keen on extending the matchday experience for fans. "We are looking into plans to renovate that area. We're looking into doing a fan village there. "I think I said it in the last fan forum. We struggle here from what I've seen in terms of timing of attendance. I think 72 per cent of fans arrive in the last hour before kick-off. "I think that probably says we're not providing a great experience. I'm sure you'd spend a lot more time here if that was the case. Sign up to the Swansea City WhatsApp service to get breaking news and top stories sent to your phone. "There's obviously limitations with the stadium in the way it's been built to really move the dial on that. But if we create new space that puts on a really good experience, it gives fans somewhere to congregate pre-match, and also enables us to do other things outside of matchdays." Article continues below Meanwhile, Gorringe also confirmed the club have started the process in finding a replacement for Richard Morris, who recently left his post as head of commercial to join Brentford. "It's an opportunity for us to reset that department and bring somebody in that's able to take us on that journey to attract growth, global brands, and to maximise the audience that we now present ourselves to. "So hopefully we'll have some progress on that in the next few weeks."

'Everything's on the table'
For Swansea City's new-look hierarchy, the sky is the limit."At this point, everything's on the table," said the club's chief executive officer Tom legend Luka Modric and rap icon Snoop Dogg both became investors in the Championship side in the months that followed the takeover led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen last Gorringe says the high-profile duo are already making their mark."The attention is the first part, but what we've seen already, particularly with Snoop in the last two weeks, he's opened a lot of doors, he's provided us with opportunities we wouldn't have had access to before," the CEO explained."I think there's a lot of exciting things in the pipeline." Former Bristol Rovers CEO Gorringe was promoted to the role of chief executive officer just a month after Swansea announced his arrival as chief operating officer in represented another significant change to the club's structure in what has been a period of major overhaul for the side that ended the 2024-25 Championship season in 11th place."We've made a lot of changes in six months," said Gorringe."Luka and Snoop joining the ownership group has been a lot of fun, brought a lot of attention to the club and ultimately opened a lot of doors for us."We've been quite active in the transfer market so far, we've got some more work to do there."We've also made a number of changes internally to try and operate more efficiently and to drive the culture and get everyone pulling in the same direction. So it's been a really busy period."Gorringe confirmed that Snoop Dogg and Modric will both visit Swansea at some stage while his response of "never say never" when asked if more high-profile names will purchase a stake in the Swans in future typifies the club's current vision. Increasing revenue has been among the priorities of the current ownership group - and the arrivals of Birmingham City and Wrexham into the Championship from League One typify why this is the Blues posted a turnover of £29.6m for the year ending June 2024 - with Wrexham announcing a club record turnover of £26.7m for same figures are higher than the £21.5m figure posted by the Championship Swans for the same time is why Gorringe says the club remain open to all possibilities, including potentially emulating the highly-successful Welcome to Wrexham documentary made by the north Wales side's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney."When I was coming into the club and speaking to the owners about their vision and strategy, this [bringing in high-profile investors] was always a part of it," he said."We wanted to build something here that was special and that the city can be proud of."Those names [Modric and Snoop Dogg] were discussed all along so it's been in the pipeline for a while. Luka's really passionate about the project, he's humble and he's been a great asset for us in terms of the football side."Snoop is incredibly passionate and really competitive. He's a huge global star with a huge audience and a massive personality."It's a great opportunity for Swansea as a whole to get behind the club and what we're trying to do here."And on those now spearheading the club, Gorringe commented: "The ownership are extremely ambitious. "They've delivered on every part of that so far. They want us to progress and ultimately want us to improve in every area as quickly as possible."I speak to them every day, they want to help us try and find solutions and they're exactly what you would want from an ownership group." In the build-up to their Championship opener against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday (15:00 BST), the Swans have recruited six players for the first Ham United defender Kaelan Casey joined on a season-long loan to follow Zeidane Inoussa, Bobby Wales, Cameron Burgess, Ricardo Santos and Ethan Galbraith in linking up with Alan Sheehan's Gorringe is under no illusions that the Swans must continue to be active over the final stages of the summer window to ensure the squad is capable of coping with the rigours of a 46-game second tier campaign."We got off to a really good start. I think the window generally moves in phases," he said."In that first phase, you have a pool of players that are keen to get in for pre-season and I think we operated really well in that part of the window."The second part is more difficult, there's still four weeks left of the window. The calibre of players we're going after will have options."Nobody has an unlimited budget; we have to operate in a financially sensible way to make sure we can get the right deals that enable us to maximise our playing budget and compete at the best possible level with what we've got."The transfer market this year in the Championship is more competitive than it's ever been."The Swans enjoyed a strong end to what was a turbulent 2024-25 season that saw Luke Williams lose his job in gained 23 points from a possible 36 under then interim boss Sheehan before appointing the Irishman as head coach on a permanent basis prior to the final-day draw with Oxford what is the aim for 2025-26?"I think the main thing is that we need to get better," concluded Gorringe."We've built a really good team on and off the pitch and we have to keep developing and looking to improve in every area."
