Johnny Carson's son, Chris Carson, dead at 74

Johnny Carson's eldest son, Christopher Carson, has died at age 74. His death was confirmed by his father's longtime friend, Howard Smith, who revealed that Chris had died earlier this year, though did not reveal his cause of death. Speaking on Joe Sibilia's 'Nostalgia Tonight' podcast Monday, Smith said he learned of Chris' death two months ago from the late television host's nephew, Jeff Sotzing. 'I moved and bought a house outside of Fort Lauderdale.' 'And at this golf club that I joined, I said to the guys, 'You guys know Chris Carson?' The guy said, 'Oh yeah, he's a member here.' And I go, 'Oh God.' I said, 'Well, I'm trying, you know, I'm a friend of his dad and all that. And I've been trying to get a hold of Chris, and Chris never got back with me,'' he went on. And he looks at me, goes, 'Howard, Chris just died last week.' 'Really?' I go, 'Oh no.' ' The 'Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson' host had shared three sons with his first wife, Joan Morrill Wolcott. The pair had welcomed Chris in 1960, son Rick the following year, and Cory in 1953. However, Rick had died in a car accident in 1991 at age 39. 4 The legendary TV host died in January 2005 at age 79. 'But I don't know. They don't see anybody that much.' Smith recalled how Cory would tag along to his famous father's golf trips when he was a youngster. 'Chris was an avid golfer, and so when he used to come, he lived in Florida, Fort Lauderdale, when he used to come to visit his dad, he would bring his clubs, because I would take them,' he said. While Chris had largely kept out of the public eye throughout his life, he made headlines in the 1980s after becoming embroiled in a bitter custody battle with his ex Tanena Love Green over their daughter, Christal Love Carson. 4 The pair had welcomed Chris in 1960, son Rick the following year, and Cory in 1953. His dad, who hosted the final 'Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson' episode on May 22, 1992, died in January 2005 at age 79.

Jimmy Fallon shares embarrassing new detail from fumbled date with Nicole Kidman

Jimmy Fallon shared an embarrassing new detail about how he once fumbled a date with Nicole Kidman. On Tuesday's episode of the 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' the host explained to his guest, 'The Last of Us' star Isabela Merced, how the video game for the HBO series is 'one of the scariest video games I've ever played in my life.' Merced, 23, then asked the comedian, 'Was that the game you were playing when you bombed your date with Nicole Kidman?' After a brief pause, Fallon, 50, jokingly pretended to end her appearance early, saying, 'It's a pleasure meeting you.' When the 'Dora and the Lost City of Gold' actress pushed for a reply, the former 'Saturday Night Live' star replied, 'No, we were playing Mario Kart. But thanks for bringing it up.' Fallon called the moment the 'most embarrassing' before changing the conversation back to 'The Last of Us.' In January 2015, Kidman, 57, appeared on Fallon's late-night show as a guest and he began detailing how they previously met years prior. 'It was really embarrassing for me,' he reminded the 'Babygirl' actress, before they both recalled what happened during their initial meet-up around 2005. 'I just remember that I liked you and [a friend] was like, 'Oh, you can meet [Jimmy],'' Kidman shared her version of events. 'Our mutual friend says, 'Jimmy wants to meet you. You can go over to his apartment,'' the mom of four, who had recently divorced Tom Cruise, continued. 'I'm single and I'm like, 'OK, yeah, cool.'' Fallon exclaimed, 'Wait. What?! What are you talking about? Did I date Nicole Kidman?' The 'Big Little Lies' actress then recalled what happened when she arrived at Fallon's apartment. 'You're there in a baseball cap and you wouldn't talk,' she said. 'You didn't say anything. You were like, 'Hey.' I'm like, 'OK.' And then you put a video game on or something!' Kidman told the audience the meeting 'was so bad.' 'After about an hour and a half, I thought, 'He has no interest. This is so embarrassing,' and I left and went, 'OK, no chemistry,'' she recalled. Fallon said he had 'no idea' his meet-up with Kidman was a date. Kidman went on to marry Keith Urban in 2006 and welcomed daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 14, in 2008 and 2010, respectively. The actress also shares kids Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30, with Cruise, 62. Meanwhile, Fallon wed Nancy Juvonen in 2007. They share daughters Winnie, 11, and Frances, 10. Rory McIlroy Shares Personal Message Tiger Woods Sent Him After First Masters Win

While we are now a few weeks removed from Rory McIlroy's historic victory at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia, the excitement surrounding the moment persists. McIlroy's win not only placed him in an exclusive group of green jacket winners, but also among just five other golfers to capture the career Grand Slam, having now won all four major tournaments. McIlroy didn't claim the victory without drama. The Masters had eluded him for over a decade, and despite coming close in previous years, he entered Sunday with a two-shot lead. After losing it and then regaining it, McIlroy found himself in a playoff with Justin Rose at 11-under. He sealed the win with a birdie, dropping to his knees in a moment of clear relief and emotion. On Thursday, McIlroy appeared on the "Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon." When asked about what his good friend and legendary golfer Tiger Woods had said to him after his victory, McIlroy shared the heartfelt message Woods sent him. Advertisement "Welcome to the club, kid," McIlroy revealed Woods texted him. Check it out: McIlroy became the first male golfer from Northern Ireland to win the Masters, marking his first major victory in 11 years. Woods also took to social media hours after McIlroy's win, posting: "Welcome to the club @McIlroyRory. Completing the Grand Slam at Augusta is something special. Your determination during this round, and this entire journey, has shown through, and now you're a part of history. Proud of you!" Amanda Seyfried addresses Joni Mitchell biopic speculations after ‘California' cover goes viral

Amanda Seyfried has shut down rumors that her viral cover of Joni Mitchell 's 'California' was an intended audition to play the folk singer in a future biopic. During an appearance last week on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Seyfried showed off both her vocal talents and dulcimer playing abilities with a pitch-perfect rendition of Mitchell's 1971 classic. A clip of her performance has since gone viral on TikTok, leading several fans to speculate that the Mamma Mia! star was throwing her name into the running to play the 81-year-old icon in Cameron Crowe 's forthcoming biopic. 'Tell me you're auditioning for a Joni Mitchell biopic without telling me you're auditioning…,' read one comment. Seyfried is now setting the record straight, insisting that 'it was not an audition.' 'In fact, I didn't even consider that, which is funny,' the Mean Girls actor, 39, admitted on a new episode of the Just for Variety podcast. 'What I know about that project is that I'm very, very much aged out of young Joni.' Almost Famous director Crowe first announced in 2023 that he was working with Mitchell on a film based on her life and career. It's not yet been revealed who will portray a young Mitchell. However, Meryl Streep is reportedly set to star as the 'Big Yellow Taxi' singer in her later years. 'I'm super-excited. We're going to start in by the end of this year and hopefully have it done for Christmas next year,' Crowe told Ultimate Classic Rock in December 2024. 'It's Joni's life, not through anybody else's prism. It's through her prism. It's the characters who impacted her life that you know and a lot that you don't know. And the music is so cinematic,' he teased. The untitled biopic is eying a 2025 Christmas release date. Seyfried is currently on a promotional tour for her new crime miniseries Long Bright River, an adaptation of Liz Moore's best-selling 2020 novel of the same name. The eight-episode show, now streaming on Peacock, follows Seyfried's Mickey Fitzpatrick, a Philadelphia police officer who patrols a neighborhood hit hard by the opioid crisis. When a string of murders takes place in her district, Mickey realizes she might have a personal connection to the case.

EXCLUSIVE: Kourtney Kardashian Barker's Lemme Is the Latest Brand Aiming to Make Fiber Cool

If anyone can make fiber cool, it might just be Kourtney Kardashian Barker. Today, Kardashian Barker's supplement brand Lemme is launching its Lemme No. 2 for $30, a daily fiber and probiotic strawberry-flavored gummy to boost regularity, support overall gut health and fill nutrient gaps. Lemme No. 2 is the brand's latest addition to its gut health offering, which includes bestsellers like Lemme Debloat, $30. To start, it will be available exclusively on More from WWD EXCLUSIVE: Assouline and Technogym Team on 'The Art of Wellness' Coffee-table Book Tate McRae Gets 'Pierced' in Grace Ling Set for 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' Performance Amanda Seyfried Puts Sparkling Spin on Suiting for 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' Talks Sabrina Carpenter in 'Mamma Mia! 3' According to the National Institute of Health, only 5 percent of people reach the daily suggested amount of fiber — about 25 grams for women and 38 grams for men, ages 19 to 50. Insufficient fiber can cause constipation, bloating and gas, as well as have longer-term effects such as high cholesterol. 'Research tells us most of the general population is fiber deficient with wide-reaching implications. That's why Lemme No. 2 is formulated with 4 grams of non-GMO prebiotic fiber per serving, plus 2 clinically studied probiotics — scientifically shown to support regularity, digestive health and good gut bacteria,' said Leona West-Fox, functional nutritionist and Lemme medical advisory board member. Lemme cofounder Simon Huck added: 'When we think about fiber, we immediately go to regularity, but there are so many other things in your body, like metabolic function, overall digestion, bloating [and] hormone balance. Everything in your body is rooted from fiber.' The formula includes vitamin D, another nutrient that many are deficient in, which can boost immunity, support bone health and promote a healthy gut microbiome. Over the past couple of years, more brands have been jumping into the fiber game to meet this growing consumer need and refresh the category. According to Nielsen IQ, fiber supplements overall exceeded $188 million in omnichannel sales in a year, having grown 25 percent from the previous period — the most popular format within the category sales- and units-wise is gummies. Lemme is the latest brand to bet on the growing market. 'Fiber is the moment,' said Lemme cofounder Simon Huck. 'It's a category that we have been so interested in for the last two years. It's, again, one of those products that is constantly requested from us.' The product has been in development for a year-and-a-half, according to Huck, who noted the process was quite long given they formulated without sugar. This launch follows Lemme's latest retail expansion into iHerb, which has allowed the brand to expand its reach. 'Part of the challenge was, we want to launch in all sorts of different places, but it takes a lot of resources,' Huck said. '[iHerb] ships to almost every single country in the world.' Within two days of launching on the platform, 60 percent of Lemme's products were already sold out, according to Huck. As far as what's next, Lemme has a full pipeline of products in 2025, including a launch into a brand new category.
