Jimmy Fallon shares embarrassing new detail from fumbled date with Nicole Kidman
On Tuesday's episode of the 'Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,' the host explained to his guest, 'The Last of Us' star Isabela Merced, how the video game for the HBO series is 'one of the scariest video games I've ever played in my life.'
Merced, 23, then asked the comedian, 'Was that the game you were playing when you bombed your date with Nicole Kidman?'
After a brief pause, Fallon, 50, jokingly pretended to end her appearance early, saying, 'It's a pleasure meeting you.'
When the 'Dora and the Lost City of Gold' actress pushed for a reply, the former 'Saturday Night Live' star replied, 'No, we were playing Mario Kart. But thanks for bringing it up.'
Fallon called the moment the 'most embarrassing' before changing the conversation back to 'The Last of Us.'
In January 2015, Kidman, 57, appeared on Fallon's late-night show as a guest and he began detailing how they previously met years prior.
'It was really embarrassing for me,' he reminded the 'Babygirl' actress, before they both recalled what happened during their initial meet-up around 2005.
'I just remember that I liked you and [a friend] was like, 'Oh, you can meet [Jimmy],'' Kidman shared her version of events.
'Our mutual friend says, 'Jimmy wants to meet you. You can go over to his apartment,'' the mom of four, who had recently divorced Tom Cruise, continued.
'I'm single and I'm like, 'OK, yeah, cool.''
Fallon exclaimed, 'Wait. What?! What are you talking about? Did I date Nicole Kidman?'
The 'Big Little Lies' actress then recalled what happened when she arrived at Fallon's apartment.
'You're there in a baseball cap and you wouldn't talk,' she said.
'You didn't say anything. You were like, 'Hey.' I'm like, 'OK.' And then you put a video game on or something!'
Kidman told the audience the meeting 'was so bad.'
'After about an hour and a half, I thought, 'He has no interest. This is so embarrassing,' and I left and went, 'OK, no chemistry,'' she recalled.
Fallon said he had 'no idea' his meet-up with Kidman was a date.
Kidman went on to marry Keith Urban in 2006 and welcomed daughters Sunday, 16, and Faith, 14, in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
The actress also shares kids Isabella, 32, and Connor, 30, with Cruise, 62.
Meanwhile, Fallon wed Nancy Juvonen in 2007. They share daughters Winnie, 11, and Frances, 10.

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 17, opens up about the one modelling rule set by celebrity parents Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban that she 'hated' at first
Sunday Rose Kidman Urban has revealed the major rule her famous parents, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, laid down before she could begin her modelling career- and why she "hated it" at first. The 17-year-old, who made her professional modelling debut at Paris Fashion Week last year, fronts the August issue of Nylon magazine and spoke candidly about life in the spotlight and what it's like growing up as the daughter of two of the world's most recognisable stars. She explained that her parents had "two big rules" before she stepped into the public eye. "The first was that I couldn't explore any kind of fashion work until I was 16, and the second is that school always has to come first, which at first I hated, but I am actually really glad that I have these rules in place because it keeps me in a good mindset," Sunday Rose said. Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, alongside her 14-year-old sister Faith Margaret, Sunday Rose turned heads in October when she opened the Miu Miu spring/summer 2025 show. At the time, Urban, 57, told People he hopes he and Kidman, 58, can help keep their daughter "balanced" as her star begins to rise. "Hopefully, she'll benefit by having two parents who know about a certain amount of celebrity," the Aussie rocker said. "It's all a challenge. I mean, raising kids is a challenge, period. It's about trying to keep a balance." That approach appears to be working, with Sunday Rose admitting that even while walking in her first runway show, schoolwork was top of mind. "So at my first show, while I was walking, I was actually just thinking about the amount of schoolwork I was going to have to make up!" she said. "I was really just hoping my teachers would let me have a couple days when I got back." The teenager says she enjoys the slower pace of life in Nashville, where most people her age don't know she has celebrity parents. "It's sort of wonderful because I am able to make a first impression based on who I am and not who my family is," she said. Still, Sunday Rose has big dreams, hoping to study filmmaking at university in a city like Los Angeles or New York. "Filmmaking has actually been my dream career since I was five, so I hope I'm able to study that in college," she said. Since her Miu Miu debut, Sunday Rose has appeared in an editorial campaign for the Italian fashion house and walked for its fall/winter ready-to-wear fashion show in March. In July, she starred in Omega's summer 2025 campaign- a brand her mother has been an ambassador for over two decades. Kidman, who also shares two adult children, Bella and Connor, with ex-husband Tom Cruise, recently told Vanity Fair she encourages her kids to seize opportunities. "It's what I try to teach my kids because I don't know what their futures are: Hold on and go for it and take the opportunities when they arise and jump in and try something," the Aussie actress said. "The worst you can do is fail. That may be humiliating, but at least you don't go, 'Gosh, I wish I'd tried that, and I regret that I didn't'."

Elizabeth Weber: I never thought of Billy Joel as a homewrecker
Elizabeth Weber "never thought of Billy Joel as a homewrecker". The 76-year-old music star was married to Elizabeth between 1973 and 1982, but she's denied that Billy was responsible for the end of her first marriage to singer Jon Small. Elizabeth explained to Us Weekly: "I never thought of Bill as the homewrecker." She added: "The home was wrecked. "We didn't have a deep connection, Jon and I. Almost in a way, my life began again when my son was born. Sean just lit up every room. He was an adorable, precocious child. So I really never thought of Bill as a homewrecker because there wasn't much home to wreck." Elizabeth and Billy split more than three decades ago, but they're still on friendly terms. She shared: "We're not distant, but we're, you know, and he lives in Florida and I live in California. But it's all good." Meanwhile, Billy recently confessed that he was "devastated" by his split from Christie Brinkley. The musician was married to the model between 1985 and 1994, and he loved the first few years of their romance. He said in his HBO documentary Billy Joel: And So It Goes: "Here I am dating this beautiful supermodel and ... me? I'm from Hicksville. What am I doing with her? What's she doing with me? But that was a very productive time for me. I wrote a lot of songs for her. She was a muse. "It was like being a teenager all over again. Experiencing those same emotions that I had when I was first discovering romance and love." Billy remembers the first few years of their romance being "so much fun". However, Billy admits that his music career and the stresses of fame took a toll on their relationship. He said: "I was in a relationship with someone who I cared deeply about. But I was not able to be at home. I was not able to be with my family. It was a very sad time for me. "I realised love is not concrete. You feel like it is, but there are things eating away at it. And in the end, it all catches up. It's hard. I was so devastated."

Pete Davidson reveals how Eddie Murphy inspired him
Eddie Murphy inspired Pete Davidson to reduce his social circle. The 31-year-old actor stars alongside Eddie, 64, in The Pickup, their new comedy movie, and Pete has now confessed to being inspired by his co-star. Speaking to People, Pete joked: "I've been guilty of having 700 friends in the green room. People I just met or are just in the crew, and then I'm like, 'Why did they not have my best interest in mind?'" Pete observed that Eddie "moved" in a totally different way to himself, and the comedy star eventually decided to follow suit. Pete said: "He has a really small crew, and it's the same people for a really long time, and I think that's really important to have an efficient career and just overall life in this business. "You have to be able to trust who's around you, and you got to be able to move a certain type of way. "I'm not Eddie Murphy by any means, but especially when you're at his level, you need to be able to trust everyone around you." Now, Pete only surrounds himself with trustworthy people. He quipped: "Pretty much after that movie I was like, 'Okay, I have three friends. Here's who they are. Here's who I have to trust and share things with.'" Earlier this month, Eddie suggested that he has "a lot in common" with Pete. The veteran comedian also relished the experience of working with the former Saturday Night Live star. Eddie - who enjoyed success on Saturday Night Live, before making the switch to Hollywood - told Extra: "I was looking forward to working with him. "I was a fan already from SNL, and we have a lot in common now. We both started doing stand-up when we were really young, and we both started Saturday Night Live when we were really young, and we both lost our dads when we were really young. So, we had a lot in common, and he's a new-generation SNL. So, it was exciting. "I love working with SNL alumni. I feel like a kinship to all of them."
