Pete Davidson reveals how Eddie Murphy inspired him
The 31-year-old actor stars alongside Eddie, 64, in The Pickup, their new comedy movie, and Pete has now confessed to being inspired by his co-star.
Speaking to People, Pete joked: "I've been guilty of having 700 friends in the green room. People I just met or are just in the crew, and then I'm like, 'Why did they not have my best interest in mind?'"
Pete observed that Eddie "moved" in a totally different way to himself, and the comedy star eventually decided to follow suit.
Pete said: "He has a really small crew, and it's the same people for a really long time, and I think that's really important to have an efficient career and just overall life in this business.
"You have to be able to trust who's around you, and you got to be able to move a certain type of way.
"I'm not Eddie Murphy by any means, but especially when you're at his level, you need to be able to trust everyone around you."
Now, Pete only surrounds himself with trustworthy people.
He quipped: "Pretty much after that movie I was like, 'Okay, I have three friends. Here's who they are. Here's who I have to trust and share things with.'"
Earlier this month, Eddie suggested that he has "a lot in common" with Pete.
The veteran comedian also relished the experience of working with the former Saturday Night Live star.
Eddie - who enjoyed success on Saturday Night Live, before making the switch to Hollywood - told Extra: "I was looking forward to working with him.
"I was a fan already from SNL, and we have a lot in common now. We both started doing stand-up when we were really young, and we both started Saturday Night Live when we were really young, and we both lost our dads when we were really young. So, we had a lot in common, and he's a new-generation SNL. So, it was exciting.
"I love working with SNL alumni. I feel like a kinship to all of them."

'Miss you so much': Linda Hogan pays birthday tribute to late ex-husband Hulk Hogan
Linda Hogan has paid tribute to her ex-husband Hulk Hogan on what would've been his 72nd birthday. The 65-year-old star posted a photo of herself with the wrestling legend - whose real name was Terry Bollea - in 1981 on Monday (11.08.25) following his tragic death last month after he suffered a heart attack at his home in Florida. Linda captioned the picture: "Me and Hulkster... 1981 Happy Birthday Terry. I love and miss you so much..." The TV personality and Hulk split in 2007 but she admitted that she was "devastated" when she paid tribute to her former husband in the days following his death. Linda - who has daughter Brooke, 37, and son Nick, 35, wrote in a comment on her Instagram post: "I had no idea he would pass away this soon. "We all really thought he would make a come back! Big surprise. We are all devastated. It's hitting me so hard." Linda revealed that she and the WWE legend were not on speaking terms when he died and explained that their son would "tell me things and vice versa". She said: "I still felt... although broken... we still were a family. It's so hard to know he's just gone. I tried to stay strong for Nick... but I'm melting down now. It's very sad. I love you Hulkster. You were my man. The only man for me. RIP." Linda was among the mourners at Hulk's funeral service in Florida last week, although Brooke chose not to attend to "honour" her father - who "hated the morbidity" of funerals. She penned on Instagram: "My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn't want one. "And although I know people grieve in many ways - and I'm so grateful for all the celebrations and events organised to honour him - as his daughter, I had to make my own decision to honour him the best and most genuine way I knew how... privately... the way that made me feel the closest to him." Brooke had a strained relationship with her father prior to his death and her husband Steven Oleksy revealed that Hulk had shown "no interest" in meeting his grandchildren Andrew and Molly following the birth of the twins in January. Former NHL player Oleksy told People: "I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest."

Shrek 5 release delayed until summer 2027
The release of Shrek 5 has been delayed until summer 2027. The upcoming movie in DreamWorks' animated franchise has been pushed back six months to June 30, 2027, from its previously slated December 2026 opening so it no longer has to compete in a crowded Christmas release season that also features Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part III. Universal has also shifted an untitled Illumination picture from Shrek 5's old date to April 16, 2027. The new Shrek flick will be the first film in the main series since Shrek Forever After was released in 2010 and sees Zendaya join the cast as the titular ogre's daughter Felicia whilst regulars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz are back to lend their voices to Shrek, Donkey and Fiona respectively. Murphy has suggested that Shrek 5 will be packed full of comedy just as the preceding films have been. The 64-year-old actor told Extra: "I've recorded some great stuff. You know, we don't get a full script when we do the Shrek movies. We get the dialogue that we're doing for each session. And I know I've been doing some really funny stuff." Eddie explained that he will only get to see his co-stars at the premiere of the movie as all of his voice work for the picture is done alone. He said: "At the end of the movie or when the movie comes out, we see each other at the premiere, but we don't see each other the whole movie. "It's all just you by yourself and a microphone." Meanwhile, Murphy has revealed that Donkey is getting his own standalone film that will begin production in September. Asked if Shrek 5's animation is being worked on now, he told ScreenRant: "No, they're still doing voiceover stuff. We're still in the booth, and literally, we're still doing Shrek. "We start in September on Donkey, we're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5. Still in the booth and about to start Donkey in September." The Beverly Hills Cop star confirmed that Donkey will be getting in his own film in the same way that Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) has previously and that the picture will see him have his "own little story with his dragon wife". Eddie said: "Donkey's going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie. "Donkey's going to have his own movie, own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys. "They've written this funny story. We're doing that, starting that in September." The prospect of Shrek 5 was first discussed by Illumination founder Chris Meledandri in 2023 as he expressed hope of reuniting the original cast for the movie. The film producer told Variety: "We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we've gotten is there's tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return."

Brandon Blackstock's cause of death revealed
Brandon Blackstock's cause of death has been confirmed. The talent manager, who was married to pop star Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, sadly passed away at the age of 48 last week and it has been revealed that he died from melanoma - a form of skin cancer - by Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis. He added to People: "Brandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family." Brandon - who had children River, 11, and Remy, nine, from his marriage to Kelly - died last week after battling cancer for over three years. A statement from a family representative read: "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." Blackstock's passing came just a day after Kelly, 43, revealed that her ex-husband was ill and that she would be postponing the rest of her Las Vegas residency dates for August. The Since U Been Gone hitmaker wrote on Instagram: "Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. "While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them. I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding." Kelly is understood to be "staying strong" for her kids in the wake of Brandon's death, even though the couple's marriage ended in acrimony. A source told People: "Kelly and Brandon had their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, he was the father of her children and she is absolutely heartbroken for them. Her kids are her entire world, and she's staying strong for their sake." The Because of You singer had always tried to remain "classy" for the sake of their kids after learning that Brandon - who served as her manager during their marriage - was seriously ill. The insider added: "When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake. "Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids."
