Jamie Vardy ‘has shock free transfer abroad BLOCKED after Arsenal legend vetoed deal'

JAMIE VARDY reportedly had a sensational move to Genoa BLOCKED by Arsenal legend and Invincible Patrick Vieira. Vieira, who is the boss of Genoa, is said to have vetoed the move after club execs had put things in place for the former Leicester striker to make the move. 5 5 According to Italian outlet La Repubblica, Genoa had agreed personal terms with Vardy following negotiations spearheaded by sporting director Flavio Ricciardella. But despite claims that Genoa had even enlisted financial help from club sponsors to pay Vardy's wages, the deal was abandoned after Vieira didn't give his seal of approval. The Premier League icon reportedly told club execs he didn't want Vardy, bringing the deal to an abrupt close. SunSport have contacted Vardy's representatives for comment. Vardy, 38, is available on a free transfer after calling an end to his 13-year spell with Leicester after his deal expired this summer. The former England international leaves the Foxes with a satisfying record of 200 goals in 500 appearances. And although a potential move to Genoa appears to be off the cards, Vardy could be heading to a European giant instead. Rangers to play under new boss Russell Martin. 5 Vardy is thought to be "open" to a move to the Scottish club. He has been urged to make the jump and raise the standards at the club by managerial icon Tony Pulis. Emotional Leicester fans say 'delete this' as club share pics of Jamie Vardy packing his things into a cardboard box The legendary former Stoke boss said: 'If Jamie Vardy went to Rangers he would be joining a huge rivalry, they have new owners and will want to invest into the team to make things more competitive. 'Russell Martin is at a massive, massive football club and that comes with expectations. If he does bring big names in, that will go through the roof. 'Brendan Rodgers has done an unbelievable job at Celtic and Russell will be under enormous pressure to get closer to them next year." However, Pulis warned that Rangers will have to act fast with Vardy likely to be in high demand. He added: 'Jamie Vardy will not be short of offers. You don't know whether he's waiting for another Premier League club to come in for him, but he's been a fantastic player. 'Taking Leicester to the Premier League title, winning the FA Cup, he is a fit lad and doesn't look to have put any weight on. I'm sure he will have something on his mind. 'He'll have a preference and he might be waiting to see what offers he gets, but he will have options all over the world.' 5

Jamie Vardy urged to join European giants and could link up with former England team-mate Conor Coady with move

TONY PULIS insists the signing of Jamie Vardy would push Ibrox expectations "through the roof". Rangers boss Russell Martin continues to be linked with the former England international. 4 Vardy, 38, is a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season. And Pulis believes his capture would be a massive statement of intent by Gers' new American owners. The legendary former Stoke boss said: 'If Jamie Vardy went to Rangers he would be joining a huge rivalry, they have new owners and will want to invest into the team to make things more competitive. 'Russell Martin is at a massive, massive football club and that comes with expectations. If he does bring big names in, that will go through the roof. 'He'll have a preference and he might be waiting to see what offers he gets, but he will have options all over the world.' Vardy could link up with former Foxes team-mate Conor Coady at Ibrox next season. The defender is keen on a move to Glasgow, with Martin understood to be working hard on a deal for the 32-year-old defender. Jamie Vardy reveals best XI he's played with at Leicester with huge snub to England stars and entire current squad Pulis added: 'There are one or two teams that have improved immensely behind Celtic and Rangers which has made things more competitive, I'm sure Conor Coady will have lots of options. 'If he ends up at Rangers then he will see that it's a fantastic club with fantastic support, then it'll be about trying to play a part in the competition with Celtic which we know is not easy.' Meanwhile, Pulis reckons Brendan Rodgers could already be thinking about his next challenge. 4 The Celtic boss has made four signings this summer as the Hoops begin their quest for five-in-a-row. Speaking to Fruity King, Pulis said: 'I'm not so sure where Brendan Rodgers is at in his career at the moment. 'It's a fabulous club, Celtic, without a doubt and that's all around the world, not just in Scotland. 'It's about the stage he feels his career is at and whether he feels he's done enough there again to go out and get a new challenge. 'It's a difficult, difficult choice for him because the club he's at now is a fantastic football club.' 4

Promotion: Tony Pulis doesn't rule out Wrexham going up

That is the view of Tony Pulis who believes nothing is impossible at The Racecourse. The Reds finished runners-up in League One last term to go straight up to the Championship where they will line-up for the first time in 43 years. Having made history by clinching back-to-back-to-back promotions, with the club climbing from the National League to the second tier at a rapid rate, Wrexham will make the biggest step-up yet when they come up against the likes of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton. But former Premier League manager Pulis says Parkinson knows that is needed in this division, where he managed Bolton Wanderers, and refuses to discount Wrexham. Pulis told BoyleSports, who offer the latest football odds, "Phil Parkinson has experience of Championship football. He'll understand what's needed. "To get three promotions, I don't care what anybody says, to get three promotions on the bounce is just exceptional. "They are in such a positive place at the moment, the crowd are behind them massively and they'll have to be next year as well because the level moves up again, but nothing is impossible. "The fans will really get behind them and it's going to be an interesting league next year. Very, very interesting. "It'll be interesting to see what Wrexham do and what they can achieve."

Tony Pulis tells Cardiff City the exact appointment they need to make and how close he came to job

Tony Pulis tells Cardiff City the exact appointment they need to make and how close he came to job The former Stoke City and West Brom boss believes the Bluebirds have to get this appointment right Tony Pulis (Image: PA Wire ) Tony Pulis believes Cardiff City have to appoint an extra footballing person to their board, citing the work Craig Gardner has done at recently-promoted Birmingham City. The Bluebirds are closing in on the appointment of a new manager following the sacking of Omer Riza and relegation from the Championship, however many fans believe they need to hire more than just a new head coach. ‌ Supporters have long called for a more robust footballing structure at the club, with great responsibility falling on too few shoulders. Join the Cardiff City breaking news and top stories WhatsApp community ‌ And Pulis, who has enjoyed a stellar managerial career with the likes of Stoke City, Crystal Palace, West Brom and Middlesbrough, agrees that Vincent Tan must look beyond appointing only a manager this summer. Gardner, a former midfielder for Aston Villa, Sunderland and Birmingham City, was appointed technical director at Blues in 2021 before being named director of football earlier this year, charged with driving the club's football strategy, playing identity, recruitment, squad development and performance. Pulis believes Gardner's appointment has been inspired at Birmingham and the Welshman hopes that if Cardiff can follow their lead, they can also follow the Midlands club in solving issues within the club and bouncing out of League One at the first time of asking. Article continues below "Whoever they appoint, again, they have to appoint someone who they believe will get them out of that league," Pulis told BoyleSports, who offer the latest Football odds. "If you look at Birmingham, there was all sorts of stuff going on at Birmingham for quite a while, they got relegated and it's all doom and gloom. "They ended up, you know, readdressing everything at the football club, Craig Gardner has done a fantastic job behind the scenes, putting an infrastructure in place. ‌ "The American owners have allowed Craig to get on with it. I've had Craig at two clubs. He's a very, very intelligent boy, very down to earth, meat and potatoes man, but very, very knowledgeable about what's needed. "I think he's done a fantastic job there. Cardiff need someone like that to go in there and pick a good manager and to get the club organised behind the scenes, I think there's loads of stuff going on at Cardiff that shouldn't even be mentioned but it is mentioned at that football club. "It's a great football club, it's big, it's the capital city of a country, it's the only club in that city and the potential there, the support potential is just enormous. It needs someone to go in there and really sort the place out and that's not just at first team level, that's right through the football club. ‌ "I really do think they need that. I've mentioned Craig doing that at Birmingham and what he's achieved and everything else, Cardiff need someone like him to go in there and do that." While Cardiff near their next managerial appointment, it can be said with a great degree of certainty that it will not be Pulis. Sign up to our daily Cardiff City newsletter here. The 67-year-old has been linked with the Bluebirds job on a number of occasions and revealed he came close to getting the gig once or twice, too. Article continues below "I came close to getting the Wales job a couple of times and Cardiff a couple of times as well but it never transpired," he added. "It wasn't right for both parties at the time. "But right now I'm sitting in my house in the South of England and I'm quite happy where I am!"
