Whether you're celebrating with a quiet cup of tea, a lively reggae brunch or a hands-on art class, there's no shortage of ways to show love this Mother's Day in Toronto. From floral workshops and castle high teas to drag shows and artisan markets, the city is full of unique events for every kind of mom — and every kind of budget. Here are some of the best ways to make the weekend special. Pottery workshop in Greektown When: Everyday Where: The Danforth Art Studio For a creative spin on Mother's Day, why not try your hand at working with clay? The Danforth Art Studio is hosting special art classes to mark the holiday where their experts will guide you through creating handmade pieces. If you want take a spin on the clay wheel, the studio offers classes for $44 individually or $32 if you share a wheel with a friend. After finishing your creation, you can paint it for an additional $10/hour or take it home as is. Vinyl painting at sunset When: May 11 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Where: STACKT Market Toronto's downtown shipping container market is organizing a Vinyl Painting at Sunset workshop on Sunday. The market will have a cosy paint night aimed at celebrating moms and mother figures. They promise art, music and quality time at the price of about $33. Vinyls, paint and brushes will be provided. High Tea at Casa Loma When: May 11 Where: Casa Loma If you're looking for lavishness, Casa Loma is hosting High Tea on Sunday that includes premium teas, scones, pastries and sandwiches. Drag Brunch in East York When: May 11 from noon to 3 p.m. Where: Fantasy Farm Event Venue For brunch and a show, head to Fantasy Farm for its second annual Mother's Day Drag Brunch. The lineup of local queens features Canada's Drag Race contestant Jada Hudson, Lady Gaga impersonator Baby Bel Bel, Taylor Swift impersonator Tay Bobo and Toronto's 'Bearded Baddie' Madee Lovegood. Floral Arranging in Summerhill When: May 9 from 10 a.m. to noon Where: Creative Class Studio Kick off the weekend with a hands-on Mother's Day floral arranging workshop on Friday. Guests can craft their own stunning bouquets — perfect as a gift or a treat for themselves — while enjoying a cosy, creative atmosphere. Bring your own vase (BYOV) and a loved one for a meaningful start to the holiday. Kid friendly art workshop When: May 11 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Where: Anga's Farm and Nursery If you've got young kids, bring them to the Little Artists in the Garden: Paint a Stepping Stone for Mom workshop at the Anga's Farm and Nursery. Children given creative materials make their own personalized stepping stone for their Mom. The workshop gives kids an outlet for showing their appreciation to their mothers. Adult supervision is required at all times and the kids choose between two pre-cast garden stones, a dragon or a butterfly.

If you're scrambling to make last minute plans — or just want to find something to do before taking mom out for dinner — there are plenty of events, free and ticketed, going on around Toronto Sunday. High tea at a castle Casa Loma will be hosting a Mother's Day high tea. Book a table and enjoy a selection of premium teas, pastries and sandwiches, plus a tour of the castle. Reservations are required, and tickets cost $75 per person. Shopping in the park The weather's getting warmer, and the Toronto Artisan Market is headed back outdoors at Trinity Bellwoods Park downtown, with dozens of local artists selling all sorts of goods from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. As an added bonus, enjoy the cherry blossoms while you browse the stalls. Decorate a cake together Take mom to Le Dolci Culinary Classroom in the Junction Area for a delicious masterclass. Guests will be provided with a pre-baked cake and buttercream icing so you can skip the hard part and focus on decorating your own special cake — which you get to take home at the end. The class takes place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Take a walk through the flowers Sunday is the final day of Fleurs de Villes SPRING, a five-day floral display in the Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood. Over 30 floral installations, created by Toronto florists, are set up along a scenic trail that's free to walk. Perfect for a Sunday stroll and a photo shoot. Breakfast at the zoo The Toronto Zoo is hosting a special Mother's Day breakfast that starts at 8:30 a.m. The ticketed event includes exclusive early morning access to the snow leopards habitat, breakfast with a show, and a special gift for every mother in attendance. Brunch at a drag show Head out to East York for a special brunch buffet and drag show at Fantasy Farm Event Centre and Banquet Hall. This is the second annual Mother's Day drag brunch at the venue. Listen to — and paint — some records with mom Head to STACKT Market near Fort York for a special Mother's Day painting workshop Sunday for an afternoon of music and art. For $30, guests are given paint, brushes and a record as a canvas to create their own vinyl masterpiece while a special Mother's Day playlist bumps in the background. The workshop runs from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Go fishing Mother's Day isn't just about brunch, flowers and cakes. And that's why the province of Ontario has made fishing free for all this weekend, no license required. So why not hit the water for some quality time. You might even catch Mother's Day dinner. Motherless Day party Mother's Day can be a hard day for some. For those who've lost their mother, a special party is being held downtown to help honour their parent's memory. The Parentless Club is hosting a Motherless Day party at Waterworks Food Hall downtown Sunday, where people can come together to support each other through the day, enjoying snacks and activities.
