'Normal service set to be resumed' for Arsenal's visit
[PA Media] It is nothing new to see Liverpool fans celebrating. They have been doing it for much of the season and in the past week or so, it has gone up a gear or two. But these days they are even jumping up and down and cheering their team on when they lose. Advertisement It was no surprise to see the Chelsea fans in delirious mood when referee Simon Hooper blew the final whistle at Stamford Bridge. Not only had they beaten the champions, they had given themselves a really decent chance of securing Champions League football for next season. But with the Reds' travelling army seemingly still overjoyed, perhaps it serves to underline the fact that it is difficult to make it seem like things matter, when they do not really matter at all. Arne Slot is 100 per cent correct when he said that nothing good ever comes from losing a football match and it is something Liverpool supporters have not had to face up to very often this season. But with all the hard work done a week earlier, it is no surprise that there was a lack of intensity at times and a shortage of the killer instinct that has been their hallmark this season. Maybe it is the price you pay for becoming champions with four games to spare, but do not be surprised if something a bit more like normal service is resumed on Sunday when Arsenal visit Anfield. Advertisement On paper, it is another game that does not matter. But when you come face to face with the team that have been highlighted as your main title challengers, then there is more at stake than just three points. After Slot made it clear that he intended to rotate his squad, perhaps we should not have been surprised by the make-up of the starting XI against Chelsea. He is right to reward those players that have played a part in their title success, but have not started as many games as they would have liked. Whether the changes are as wide-ranging against Arsenal remains to be seen. There is also a question about Trent Alexander-Arnold, now that his plans for the future have been revealed. Should he be taken out of the starting XI because he will soon be leaving? Or should he get the chance to say a proper farewell by playing a significant part in his final two matches at Anfield? The final call rests with Slot. When it comes to making big decisions this season, I cannot think of too many that he has got wrong. 'Coasting towards season's end' not an option
There will be plenty of pre-match pomp and circumstance at Goodison on Saturday, prior to Everton's Premier League match with already relegated Ipswich are only two games left at the famous old stadium and given that every ticket for their final home match of the campaign against Southampton has long since sold out, for some Blues fans this might be their last chance to soak up the atmosphere at the place where they have worshipped for all their Evertonian countdown to 'Goodbye to Goodison' is picking up pace and, in all honesty, for most of the supporters there is not much else at David Moyes, his staff and his players, the picture is very Blues boss has done an unbelievable job since returning as manager. Premier League football for next season, their first at their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, was guaranteed with room to spare. But another big task awaits him. Making sure he has a squad that can be competitive next season will not be record in the transfer market shows he has an eye for talent but the type of players he wants will likely be targeted by other clubs. He will have to use all his managerial know-how to paint a picture of a promising future and brave new world at overhauling the current squad and bringing in the players with the pace, power and personality to take Everton to the next level will be quite a task. There are plenty in the current squad that he will wish to keep and some of those will be wanted by other clubs. There are also some that will not be part of future plans and maybe it is still make-your-mind-up time for some of them. The Friedkin Group will provide a much bigger transfer chest than Everton have had for years but that will not be big enough to transform this squad to Moyes' requirements in one, or maybe even two transfer windows. The players in that final group will know who they are. Perhaps they can still have a big say in shaping their own futures. Coasting towards season's end is not an option for Moyes - it never has to Total Sport Merseyside from 18:00 on weeknights and find details here of live Everton match commentaries on BBC Radio MerseysideExplore Everton content on BBC Sounds

It has all been said about Liverpool's title win. The plaudits heading the way of Arne Slot and his players are thoroughly deserved. But important days still lie ahead, starting at Chelsea on team Liverpool play between now and the end of the season will want to prove themselves against the champions. Mind you, that is something the Reds deal with every week, so no change it will be a case of summer recruitment future of Trent Alexander-Arnold is still to be sorted out, but where do Liverpool need to strengthen? How many players will they look to bring in, and who might leave? These are the questions Slot and his backroom team will have been pondering and it will be a big summer either way as the club will want to build on this success and make it a regular occurrence.
