'Normal service set to be resumed' for Arsenal's visit
It is nothing new to see Liverpool fans celebrating. They have been doing it for much of the season and in the past week or so, it has gone up a gear or two.
But these days they are even jumping up and down and cheering their team on when they lose.

It was no surprise to see the Chelsea fans in delirious mood when referee Simon Hooper blew the final whistle at Stamford Bridge. Not only had they beaten the champions, they had given themselves a really decent chance of securing Champions League football for next season.
But with the Reds' travelling army seemingly still overjoyed, perhaps it serves to underline the fact that it is difficult to make it seem like things matter, when they do not really matter at all.
Arne Slot is 100 per cent correct when he said that nothing good ever comes from losing a football match and it is something Liverpool supporters have not had to face up to very often this season. But with all the hard work done a week earlier, it is no surprise that there was a lack of intensity at times and a shortage of the killer instinct that has been their hallmark this season.
Maybe it is the price you pay for becoming champions with four games to spare, but do not be surprised if something a bit more like normal service is resumed on Sunday when Arsenal visit Anfield.

On paper, it is another game that does not matter. But when you come face to face with the team that have been highlighted as your main title challengers, then there is more at stake than just three points.
After Slot made it clear that he intended to rotate his squad, perhaps we should not have been surprised by the make-up of the starting XI against Chelsea. He is right to reward those players that have played a part in their title success, but have not started as many games as they would have liked. Whether the changes are as wide-ranging against Arsenal remains to be seen.
There is also a question about Trent Alexander-Arnold, now that his plans for the future have been revealed. Should he be taken out of the starting XI because he will soon be leaving? Or should he get the chance to say a proper farewell by playing a significant part in his final two matches at Anfield?
The final call rests with Slot. When it comes to making big decisions this season, I cannot think of too many that he has got wrong.

He was often left isolated, forced into wide channels or dropping deep trying to get involved, which blunted his presence in the penalty box. Arsenal's build-up play bypassed him too often, leaving their record signing chasing long passes rather than linking with Martin Ødegaard, Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli. The numbers underline the problem. With no shots attempted, limited touches in attacking areas and a pass completion of just 44 per cent, Gyökeres had little opportunity to demonstrate his finishing or movement inside the box. He touched the ball in the United box just three times. His substitution on the hour reflected both the pattern of the match and Arsenal's tactical shift as they defended a narrow lead, although I would have liked to have seen him given time on the pitch alongside Noni Madueke, who replaced Gabriel Martinelli at the same time Gyokeres was taken off. In short, Gyökeres's debut was tough. He worked hard, competed physically and tried to impose himself against United's centre-backs, but Arsenal's lack of midfield control and poor service left him largely anonymous in front of goal. On another day, with more composure in possession and better delivery, his qualities will become clearer.

Bukayo Saka admitted Arsenal were a long way from their best after they snatched a 1-0 win away to Manchester United in their Premier League opener on Sunday. Riccardo Calafiori got the only goal in the 13th minute when he pounced on an error from United's stand-in goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. But Arsenal were otherwise second best at Old Trafford, sloppy in possession against a United side who impressed with their energy and purpose, even if they ultimately could not find an end product. Our decision making was not great and that cost us and gave United a lot of momentum. We did not get punished for it but we cannot do it every game.' A huge amount of the focus coming into the match was on Arsenal's new £55million striker Viktor Gyokeres as he came up against his former boss Ruben Amorim. It proved a difficult afternoon for the Sweden star, who struggled to hold up the ball and did not get a sight of goal before being replaced just after the hour. 'I was impressed with him and he battled for us,' Saka said of his new team-mate. 'It was tough. There was a big battle up there. 'I thought he did well. His performance gives us something to build on and I am sure it will help him next week. He has slotted in well and so have the other guys.'

Antoine Semenyo: Man suspected of racially abusing Premier League star is released on bail
A man has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of racially abusing Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo. The 47-year-old from Liverpool, who hasn't been named, was ordered not to go within a mile of any football stadium - and to avoid matches. Semenyo and the game was temporarily paused while the referee spoke to the teams' managers. An anti-discrimination message was broadcast, and it is understood police went into the ref's room at half-time. Semenyo scored twice in the second half to help bring Bournemouth back from two goals down, before Liverpool went on to eventually win the contest 4-2. The player said the messages of support he received were "overwhelming" and a reminder of why he loves the sport. The Premier League said its "on-field anti-discrimination protocol" had been followed and the incident "will now be fully investigated". The incident came two days after Tottenham Hotspur player Mathys Tel faced racist abuse online following a missed penalty in his team's UEFA Super Cup loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Merseyside Police said on Monday that its investigation was ongoing, and the force is continuing to liaise with Liverpool FC.
