Aaron Rodgers signs with Steelers: See which number the new AFC North QB will wear
It was a big day filled with numbers for Aaron Rodgers on Saturday. He signed his contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The deal is for a year and will earn the quarterback $10 million guaranteed, with a maximum value of $19.5 million. The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playing time and team performance incentives. Rodgers will wear No. 8 for the Steelers, per Adam Schefter. No Steelers player has worn 12 since Terry Bradshaw, so that was out of the question, although the number is not retired. Abdul Carter signs $45 million rookie contract with Giants
Abdul Carter had some issues finding the number he would wear with the New York Giants. The No. 3 overall pick from Penn State couldn't wrestle No. 56 from Lawrence Taylor or No. 11 from Phil Simms. The defensive end didn't have any troubles with the following digits: $45,255,180. Advertisement That's how much he will earn over the course of the four-year contract he signed on Thursday with Big Blue. Carter moved from linebacker to DE in 2024 for James Franklin's Nittany Lions. He had a huge season with 12 sacks and 24 tackles for losses. He joins a Giants defensive line that already boasts Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns and Dexter Lawrence II. Brian Daboll will need the defense to be stalwart as his team looks to improve on a last-place finish in the NFL East in 2024. Burns played a role in getting Carter's contract finalized. He had his contract restructured into a $10 million bonus so the Giants could sign Carter. Touchdown Wire projects disappointing season for Arizona Cardinals
Touchdown Wire projects disappointing season for Arizona Cardinals Touchdown Wire's Jarrett Bailey predicts a sub-.500 season for the Cardinals in 2025 The Arizona Cardinals clearly have improved their roster, especially defensively. After an 8-9 season in 2024 when they lost five of their final seven games, they should be ready to compete for the division title. That would be a logical belief, right? Perhaps it is not. After a recent projection that the Cardinals would not win more than they did last season, Touchdown Wire's Jarrett Bailey's season projections have the Cardinals falling short of their goals. Bailey has the Cardinals in third place in the NFC West for the second straight year and finishing 8-9, just like last season. He recognizes their potential, though. Arizona is another team I may be too low on. They won eight games last season and got better on defense. Don't be surprised if they're a Wild Card team. It is going to be a competitive division for sure. The Rams still look good and added Davante Adams to their offense. The 49ers' bad year in 2024 seems like a one-off, and even though they lost a ton of players in the offseason, they have players on the roster who are ready to fill those roles. As such, it makes sense to perhaps underrate the Cardinals and what they can do. But if they won eight games last season and are a better team in 2025, vastly so defensively in terms of talent, they should win more, right? We will see. NFL Draft 2025: Emotional phone calls capture rookies' life-changing moments
Each year, the NFL Draft brings a heartwarming tradition: teams calling their newly selected players. Moments before a player's name is announced, the team's head coach or general manager dials them, often catching the draftee surrounded by family and friends. These emotional calls, filled with congratulations, hugging and excitement, mark the start of a life-changing journey. For players, hearing their name called and receiving that personal call validates years of hard work. Teams share these raw, joyful moments on social media, connecting fans to the human side of the draft, making it a cherished ritual in the NFL. From the first round until late into day three, the Touchdown Wire found some of the best and heartwarming. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Benjamin Morrison, Notre Dame Easily one of the most tear jerking and heart string pulling calls, the cornerback from Notre Dame had been in the first round conversations until a season ending injury hip injury that required surgery dropped him out of the first and into questioning if he would clear medicals and what team might take a chance on him. The Buccaneers GM Jason Licht was the one that jumped at the chance and drafted the second generation NFL player. Seattle Seahawks - OG Mason Richman, Iowa State The Seahawks decided to have fun with this call and since their first round pick, Grey Zabel, the offensive lineman out of North Dakota State had flown into Seattle and was at the training center that Saturday, head coach Mike McDonald handed the phone to Zabel and let him dial up their pick at No. 234. Dallas Cowboys - CB Shavon Revel, East Carolina Revel's story isn't far off of Morrison's above. Huge talent and an injury put him on the sidelines before the end of the 2024 season. The former Pirate turned down NIL money and big offers from P4 schools to stay true to his team in Greenville, NC. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys saw his potential despite playing in a smaller conference and the torn ACL and drafted him in the third round. Tennessee Titans - WR Xavier Restrepo, Miami Considered one of the top wide receivers by many of the analysts across the league, Restrepo unexpectedly went undrafted after a very slow 40 yard time at the combine. Fortunately for him, he had the No. 1 draft pick in the country vouching for him, his college quarterback Cam Ward. The Titans signed the former Hurricane to bring him to Nashville and give Ward a very familiar target to throw to. Las Vegas Raiders - RB Ashton Jeanty, Boise State Everything about Jeanty is fun. Watching him on the field, his happy outlook on life, and that infectious smile. In what was a quintessential Pete Carroll draft pick, Jeanty was the top running back taken in the draft. His excitement was more than evident on his phone call with Raiders GM John Spytek from the green room at the draft.
