Star Entertainment gets notice to end Queen's Wharf project stake selloff deal

Australia's Star Entertainment said it had received a notice from Hong Kong's Far East Consortium International and Chow Tai Fook Enterprises to terminate the deal to sell its 50 per cent stake in its Queen's Wharf project in Brisbane. The agreement was entered into by the parties with the embattled casino operator on March 7, with the termination set to take effect five business days from June 30, unless withdrawn earlier. The agreement in March outlined the basis for the casino operator to exit its equity interest in Destination Brisbane Consortium (DBC), but the parties did not reach an agreement on the outstanding commercial issues of the deal as of this morning, Star said in a statement on Monday. Far East Consortium, in a separate statement, said Star is required to repay a total of A$10 million ($6.53 million) by no later than 30 days of the date of termination. If the said amount is not repaid within the period, Star will be required to instead transfer its 33.3 per cent interest in Tower 1 (Dorsett) to the Hong Kong parties, the property developer added. World theatre giant brings his magical country estate to market

Back in Sydney, Crown Tower's circa $80 million penthouse is widely tipped to have sold to accountant Lawrence and Sylvia Myers, sources say. Better known as James Packer 's lieutenant, due to Lawrence's title of chief executive of James Packer's family office Consolidated Press Holdings, it may turn out they will become neighbours too, given Packer already has a stake in the building as well. In 2021, James Packer also purchased a two-storey apartment in the luxury building to the tune of $72.23 million. Spanning the top two floors, the luxury penthouse is reported to have sold through Steven Chen of The Agency and Luke Hayes of Colliers, who declined to comment when contacted. It ranks as the second-most expensive apartment deal in Australia, following the $140 million paid by a mystery buyer in Lendlease's yet-to-be-completed Tower 1 development at Barangaroo South, which is a consolidation of the penthouse and sub-penthouse. The move would make sense given the Myers have listed their exquisite Rose Bay home on the market with a price guide above $90 million through Steven Chen of The Agency, which they are selling because of the extensive and increasing international travel demands of Lawrence's executive role as a specialist high net-worth advisor for his wealthy clientele. Indeed, the 51-year-old holds an impressive list of roles, as well as being the boss of Packer's family office. The accountant is also a deputy chairman of Breville, a board member of fund manager VGI Partners and was also a trustee of the Art Gallery of NSW Foundation, according to his LinkedIn. While they would be swapping from a house to a unit, it is by no means any less luxurious with a view from every room in their new pad. The home boasts a staggering list of features, including its own gym, pool and cinema, as well as front- and back-of-house kitchens with separate entries for catering via a goods lift. Woollahra movers The sale of the Woollahra home of Elizabeth and Greg Sanderson of Sanderson Mercedes in Rushcutters Bay has settled and documents reveal their long-time home fetched $9.75 million in February. Turns out locals Hugh Allen, a paediatrician, and his architect wife Judith Ainge purchased the Alex Popov -designed three-bedroom house from the Sandersons, who have already made a tree-change to the Southern Highlands. The character home sold through Georgia Cleary of McGrath Paddington who declined to comment when contacted. It turns out Allen and Ainge didn't move too far having sold their long-term family home in the suburb earlier this year too, for $10.6 million in March, which looks to be a downsize for the couple. They purchased the stately family home for $1.75 million in 1997. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house is located in Woollahra's most exclusive pockets, just moments from Queen Street Village and Bondi Junction, and is reflective of an English countryside manor. The buyers of their home was Michael Porter, co-founder of beauty label Skin Control and Four Seasons condom dynasty heir, and his husband Billy Mitchell, a marketing and communications manager for an Italian fashion house, according to Vogue magazine who profiled the couple tying the knot in idyllic Lake Como two years ago.
