Deion Sanders appears to be on the mend. A new video released by his son showed the Colorado football head coach walking gingerly around his Texas estate a week before Sanders is scheduled to appear at Big 12 media days.
The video posted by Deion Sanders Jr. showed the 57-year-old coach receiving a visit from rapper Lil Wayne, one of several celebrity friends who have visited Sanders while he recovers from an unspecified health problem.
Sanders and five players will represent Colorado on July 9 as part of the Big 12 annual media event. While it is expected that Sanders attends, his health has been a significant concern over the past few months.
If he shows up in Frisco, Texas, next week, it would be Sanders' first public appearance since April when the Buffs wrapped up spring camp. He missed the football program's annual youth summer camps as well as Travis Hunter's wedding in late May.
The only information Sanders divulged about his condition is that he lost 14 pounds, saying on a podcast with Asante Samuel that what he is dealing with "is at a another level."
Once Big 12 media days start next week, Colorado enters the preparation phase for the 2025 season. The Buffs open the season with a home game against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.
