Deion Sanders health improving as Colorado head coach eyes Big 12 media days
Deion Sanders appears to be on the mend. A new video released by his son showed the Colorado football head coach walking gingerly around his Texas estate a week before Sanders is scheduled to appear at Big 12 media days.
The video posted by Deion Sanders Jr. showed the 57-year-old coach receiving a visit from rapper Lil Wayne, one of several celebrity friends who have visited Sanders while he recovers from an unspecified health problem.
Sanders and five players will represent Colorado on July 9 as part of the Big 12 annual media event. While it is expected that Sanders attends, his health has been a significant concern over the past few months.
If he shows up in Frisco, Texas, next week, it would be Sanders' first public appearance since April when the Buffs wrapped up spring camp. He missed the football program's annual youth summer camps as well as Travis Hunter's wedding in late May.
The only information Sanders divulged about his condition is that he lost 14 pounds, saying on a podcast with Asante Samuel that what he is dealing with "is at a another level."
Once Big 12 media days start next week, Colorado enters the preparation phase for the 2025 season. The Buffs open the season with a home game against Georgia Tech on Aug. 29.

Iowa women's basketball 2027 four-star recruit commits to IMG Academy
After two dominant seasons at Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Fla.), Iowa women's basketball's four-star 2027 small forward recruit Madison Mignery announced on Friday that she will be transferring to IMG Academy to further her blossoming development. In her sophomore campaign with Cardinal Mooney, Mignery averaged an impressive 16.0 points per game on 56% shooting from the floor, 36% from 3-point territory, and 77% from the free-throw line through 28 contests. The 6-foot-1 forward also captained the Cardinal Mooney team to a 24-9 record, helping guide the school to a 2025 Florida High School Athletic Association Class 3A state championship with 19 points and 11 rebounds in the title game against Bolles. The Sarasota, Florida, native is regarded as the No. 2 player in the Sunshine State per Prep Girls Hoops. The Hawkeyes extended Mignery an offer on May 29, which added Iowa to a growing list of offers, including Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Florida, TCU, and Stanford. With the move to IMG, Mignery will compete against some of the top talent in the nation, which should help her improve her game as her recruitment furthers while staying relatively close to home in nearby Bradenton, Fla. Wimbledon: Ben Shelton pleaded for extra time off for his sister at Morgan Stanley. It worked
LONDON (AP) — Ben Shelton launched a public plea for his sister to get some extra time off from her job at investment bank Morgan Stanley so she could remain at Wimbledon to cheer for him. It worked. After advancing to face Italy's Lorenzo Sonego on Monday in the fourth round, Shelton spoke in an on-court interview in front of a crowd that included his sister, Emma, and his girlfriend, U.S. national soccer team star Trinity Rodman . 'I've been playing well this week. It's not just been me here. I have a great team. My parents are here. My grildfriend's here. Also, my sister's here. She's been here for every match that I've played this tournament so far. She's been the lucky charm,' said the 10th-seeded Shelton, a 22-year-old American who has appeared in two Grand Slam semifinals. 'But she has work back in the U.S., starting on Monday. She works for Morgan Stanley.' That drew some boos from spectators as Emma covered her face with her hands. 'If any of you all have some (connections) and get her a couple extra days off so she can (stay and) we can keep this rolling,' Shelton continued after his 6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Marton Fucsovics of Hungary on Saturday, 'that'd be great.' Sure enough, hours later, Emma posted a short video on Instagram in which Ben is heard asking her, 'You got the week off or what?' She jumps up and down with her arms raised and a wide smile, and Ben says, 'Shoutout, Morgan Stanley.' The caption reads 'thank you MS' with three blue heart emojis and 'return flight: cancelled.' Ben Shelton, who won all nine sets he played in Week 1 at the All England Club, beat Sonego in the Australian Open quarterfinals in January. ___ More AP tennis:
