Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe's New Comedy Series From the 30 ROCK Crew Ordered by NBC — GeekTyrant

NBC is officially all in on The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins , a new comedy series starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe. It seems like an unexpected pairing, but it sounds like it'll be a great show. The network has handed the project a full series order after announcing a pilot back in March. According to NBC's logline, the show follows 'a disgraced former football player (Morgan) on a mission to rehabilitate his image.' Radcliffe's role hasn't been detailed yet, but with his track record of offbeat and inspired choices ( Miracle Workers, Swiss Army Man, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story ), we're betting he'll bring something fun to the mix. Also joining the cast are Erika Alexander ( Living Single ), Bobby Moynihan ( SNL ), Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall. This marks a big 30 Rock reunion. Robert Carlock and Sam Means, the duo behind Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt , are writing and executive producing. Tina Fey is also executive producing, alongside Eric Gurian from her Little Stranger banner, SNL vet Rhys Thomas (who's directing the pilot), and David Miner of 3 Arts. Universal Television is producing. Tracy Morgan, of course, played the iconic Tracy Jordan for all seven seasons of 30 Rock , even earning an Emmy nomination in 2009. As for Radcliffe, this isn't his first time working with this creative team. He previously appeared in Netflix's Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend interactive special. Are you excited to see Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe team up for this new comedy?

NBC's embrace of sports could be bad news for scripted programming

Lost in all of that excitement, however, was a Friday afternoon news dump that NBC would be axing five scripted shows: 'Found,' 'The Irrational,' 'Lopez vs. Lopez,' 'Suits LA,' and the revival of 'Night Court' were all given a pink slip to make room for hoops. While some of those shows had plenty of opportunity to find an audience, ' Advertisement Regardless of your feelings on those specific shows, the NBA on NBC spells danger for all original programming at Rockefeller Center, both new and old. While Sunday night has been a sports night for NBC since Sunday Night Football began in 2006, Tuesday's primetime lineup was where shows like 'Frasier,' 'This is Us,' and the original 'Law & Order' first flourished. Where will word-of-mouth shows like 'Scrubs' build an audience now that three precious hours of primetime will be occupied by an NBA pre-game show and a 2 1/2 hour game? Not too long ago, a sitcom executive-produced by Tina Fey starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe would anchor a Thursday night of 'Must See TV.' But Fey's 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins' still doesn't have a timeslot, and will face competition from two other comedy pilots as As NBC celebrates its 100th birthday this upcoming year, the network is putting all of its eggs into the live events basket, positioning the NFL, the Olympics, and the NBA as its tentpoles. It's an understandable approach, but a tough pill to swallow from a company that has produced some of the best scripted TV shows of all time. Tracy Morgan Comedy Pilot Granted 2025-26 Series Order By NBC

NBC unveiled its fall slate Monday (May 12) and announced that Tracy Morgan's comedy series, The Fall And Rise Of Reggie Dinkins, was greenlit for a 10-episode series order. The series will star Morgan alongside Erika Alexander, Daniel Radcliffe, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way and Jalyn Hall as it follows Reggie Dinkins (Morgan), a disgraced former football player on a mission to rehabilitate his image. Morgan secured the pilot order back in March and was the first pilot greenlight at NBC for the season, according to the network. The decision came after Pearlena Igbokwe became the Chairman, Television Studios, NBC Entertainment & Peacock Scripted back in January. The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins is Igbokwe's first new NBC scripted series pickup — and the network's only new scripted series for the 2025-26 season so far, Deadline reports. The outlet noted, 'There were multiple factors in play. Because of the timing of the executive restructuring late into the 2024-25 development cycle, NBC was late with its pilot orders, with only 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins' finished in time for the upfronts.' The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins will not interfere with The Neighborhood spinoff series Crutch, which Morgan also stars in and is headed to Paramount+. The spinoff centers around Francois 'Frank' Crutchfield (Morgan)— also known as 'Crutch' to his inner circle— 'a Harlem widower whose empty-nest plans are put on hold after his millennial son and free-spirited daughter move back home.' Cedric The Entertainer, who helms The Neighborhood, said of the new series, 'I'm excited to be expanding our 'The Neighborhood' universe by producing a show with the legendary comedian Tracy Morgan. This new character is the close cousin to my character Calvin Butler, and you will enjoy some of their many similarities. Morgan plays Crutch, a 'say-it-like-it-is' widowed father who is challenged when his two adult children and a couple of grandchildren need to move back home, and let's just say there will be several comedic complications.' Morgan added, ''Crutch' will be navigating the ups and downs of having his kids and grandkids back under one roof, and you know if I am doing this, there will be plenty of laughs along the way. I am so happy to be able to do this with my brother Cedric The Entertainer, Owen Smith and the rest of the amazing crew we have put together. Get ready for your new favorite show!' Neither show has a set premiere date. 30 Rock fans go WILD after spotting co-stars at Knicks playoff game

30 Rock fans were treated to a surprise reunion during Monday night's Game 4 between the Celtics and the Knicks. The celeb-packed game at Madison Square Garden featured a slew of high profile stars, including Timothee Chalamet and Ben Stiller, but fans went wild over the surprise reunion between SNL alums Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan. Videos shared online showed a clip from the comedy series before cutting to Morgan, 56, and Fey, 54, sitting courtside next to each other while the 30 Rock theme song played in the background. The two previously starred in the sitcom together, which first aired in 2006 and ran for seven seasons. The duo recently announced they will be teaming up for a new comedy series for NBC that will star Morgan and be executive produced by Fey. Ecstatic fans loved seeing the two hanging out - taking to social media to share their joy. '30 rock is forever,' one fan wrote. '30 Rock reunion at MSG at Knicks game!' gushed another. 'Most iconic moment in Pop Culture since Marilyn Monroe sang to JFK,' declared another. 'Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan are courtside together!!!! Knicks can't lose!' cheered another. The Knicks' celebrity row has become the place to be during certain times of the year, with Christmas Day and the playoffs being at the top. Morgan is a regular at MSG, regularly spotted at the games supporting the Manhattan-based team. In March, the comedian suffered a medical emergency at a Knicks game against Miami Heat, vomiting all over the court and causing a lengthy delay. In a worrying scene, the actor suddenly got sick in his courtside chair, with videos of him throwing up shared to social media. Images from fans showed the comedian — who has diabetes and underwent a kidney transplant 15 years ago — vomited near his feet, with some of it spilling onto the court. The game was paused for around 10 minutes as medics tended to the actor. Ecstatic fans loved seeing the two hanging out - taking to social media to share their joy He took to Instagram from his hospital bed to reveal he was on the road to recovery - and still keeping up with the basketball. Morgan wrote: 'Thank you for all your concern! I'm doing ok now and doctors say it was food poisoning. Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you! 'More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I'll have to break it out again in the playoffs,' he joked. Morgan earned Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his roles on NBC's Saturday Night Live (where he starred from 1996-2003) and '30 Rock' (2006-2013), where he played Tracy Jordan. The Knicks won Monday night's game against the Celtics 121-113. The victory gives New York a crucial 3-1 lead in the series and pushes the defending NBA champions to the brink of elimination. It also puts the Knicks on the brink of making their first appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals since the 1999-2000 season.

Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe Comedy Series, the NBA Lead NBC's 2025-26 Lineup

NBC has greenlit a new comedy series starring Tracy Morgan and Daniel Radcliffe, which leads the network's 2025-26 alongside the NBA. The new series, titled 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins,' focuses on a disgraced former football player (Morgan), who is on a mission to rehabilitate his image, according to the official logline. It is executive produced by '30 Rock' creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins' will debut in the 2025-26 alongside returning comedies 'St. Denis Medical' and 'Happy's Place' which took the coveted comedy slots on Monday and Friday upon the cancellations of 'Night Court' and 'Lopez vs Lopez.' 'The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins' will either be slotted after 'St. Denis Medical' on Mondays or after 'Happy's Place' on Fridays, with an additional slot open for NBC comedy pilots — which include 'Stumble' from Jeff and Liz Astrof and an untitled project from Sierra Teller Ornelas — to air in the 2025-26 season if greenlit. Beginning in October, when NBC kicks off its 11-year deal with the NBA, Peacock will livestream national Monday night games before games are broadcast across NBC and Peacock on Tuesday nights, filling the entirety of Tuesday night primetime. In spring 2026, NBC will launch 'Sunday Night Basketball' across NBC and Peacock, alongside playoffs and WNBA Coverage. Before the NBA kicks off in October, NBC's Tuesday nights in September will see 'The Voice' air from 8-10 p.m. before new unscripted show 'On Brand With Jimmy Fallon,' which follows the late night host as he starts a premier marketing agency, airs at 10 p.m. With the NBA's return making fewer primetime spots available for scripted programming, freshman series 'Brilliant Minds' and 'The Hunting Party' made the cut over 'Suits LA,' 'The Irrational,' 'Grosse Pointe Garden Society' and 'Found.' There's still a chance for 'Grosse Pointe Garden Society' to move to Peacock, according to programming planning strategy president Jeff Bader and SVP of program planning and scheduling Steve Kern, who told press that a potential move to the streamer was something considered for every show. While the execs noted the NBA broke up the network's comedy block — which helped launch 'St. Denis Medical' last season — Bader noted the scripted programming line up isn't 'dramatically less' than pre-NBA seasons. 'I actually think we did a good job of carving out scripted time, given that we do not have Tuesdays,' Bader said. 'Brilliant Minds' will air after 'The Voice' on Mondays, while 'The Hunting Party' airs Thursday at 10 p.m. after 'Law & Order' and 'Law & Order: SVU.' The 'Chicago' franchise will continue holding down Wednesday night, with 'Chicago Med' airing at 8 p.m., 'Chicago Fire' at 9 p.m. and 'Chicago P.D.' closing out the night at 10 p.m. 'We're really going to lean into [these sophomore shows],' Bader told press. ''Brilliant Minds' only had 13 episodes, and first season of 'Hunting Party' only had 10 episodes. We need to give these full seasons and really lean into them … really get them established.'
