Anonymous NFL scout gives savage verdict on Travis Kelce's hopes of returning to his best in 2025
An anonymous NFL scout has delivered a brutal verdict on whether Travis Kelce will be able to get back to his best next season. While Kelce is a fan favorite among Kansas City Chiefs fans - and Swifties across the globe - stats from last year would suggest that the tight end is on the decline. His 823 yards recorded is the lowest in his career, for a full season, and in the recent Super Bowl he managed four receptions for 39 yards as the Chiefs were humiliated. Despite dropping retirement hints, Kelce confirmed that he would return for the 2025 season and, ahead of that, one scout has delivered a savage verdict on his form. In a report by ESPN, Kelce was ranked as the fifth-best tight end in the NFL, as they prepare to head into the new season. The scout claimed that Kelce has shown 'signs of physical decline' but did admit that 'you still have to worry about him' because he's 'such a smart player'. However, they ended by claiming that Kelce 'doesn't get open like he used to' and pointed to signs that the Chiefs star 'played heavier last year'. Trey McBride, Sam LaPorta, George Kittle and Brock Bowers were all listed ahead of the Chiefs star in the tight end rankings. The tight end teased the possibility of ending his career following the loss in the Super Bowl and admitted the grind of NFL life had driven him 'crazy' last season. To the joy of Chiefs fans, it was later confirmed that the 35-year-old would return for a 13th season however he did reveal that he would consider the 2026 season later 'down the road'. Kelce signed a two-year, $34.25million contract - with $17m guaranteed - back in April 2024. There is still one year left on that deal in Kansas City, where Kelce has played his entire career since being selected in the third round of the 2013 draft. The 35-year-old is already a three-time Super Bowl champion but the Chiefs failed in their bid for a historic three-peat. Kelce has, however, been enjoying his offseason alongside girlfriend Taylor Swift and recently attended an event together for the first time as a couple. At the Tight End University event, Swift and Kelce were clearly locked in on each other, including sharing some PDA in front of cameras.

2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: TE Trey McBride
We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about TE Trey McBride. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. This focuses on tight end Trey McBride. Trey McBride background, 2024 season McBride enters his fourth NFL season, all with the Cardinals. He was a second-round pick in 2022 out of Colorado State. In three years, he has become one of the premier pass-catching tight ends in the NFL. After 29 receptions for 291 yards as a rookie, he set the franchise single-season record for receptions by a tight end with 81 in 2023 to go with 825 yards and three touchdowns. He bested that in 2024, catching 111 passes, setting a new record, for 1,146 yards (the second-highest single-season total by a tight end) and two touchdowns. He was selected as a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career. Trey McBride 2025 contract details, cap hit This offseason, he signed a four-year, $76 million contract extension, becoming the highest-paid tight end in league history, at least for a couple of weeks until the 49ers' George Kittle signed a larger deal. He got a $16.75 million signing bonus and will make a fully guaranteed salary of more than $5.4 million in 2025. His cap hit will be less than $9.6 million. Questions he faces, roster outlook There is no question about his roster outlook. He is a lock for the roster and is the unquestioned TE1 in the offense. The only questions he faces for the upcoming season are 1) can he keep up the rate of his production and 2) can he take the next step and produce touchdowns? He only has six receiving touchdowns in his career and only had two last season. He did rush for a score and recover a fumble in the end zone for another, but to be one of the greats, he has to find his way more consistently into the end zone. 2025 NFC West TE duo rankings: Arizona Cardinals take top spot
While George Kittle is the NFC West's top TE, the Cardinals' duo of Trey McBride and Tip Reiman are the top duo. We are in the final stretch of the NFL offseason as the Arizona Cardinals open training camp on July 22. Leading up to then, as we have for several offseasons, go through the players and position groups in the NFC West and rank them. Next up, we look at the top tight end duos for the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks and rank them. 1. Arizona Cardinals: Trey McBride, Tip Reiman/Elijah Higgins McBride is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and, while he is behind San Francisco's George Kittle in individually, Reiman is already a very good blocking tight end and actually played a little more as a rookie than Higgins, another solid tight end. 2. San Francisco 49ers: George Kittle, Luke Farrell The 49ers added Farrell in free agency this offseason, a solid No. 2 blocking tight end. He has not yet scored a touchdown in the NFL. He played less than Reiman did last year for the Cardinals as a rookie. 3. Seattle Seahawks: Noah Fant, AJ Barner/Eijah Arroyo Fant and Barner are just fine. Arroyo, a rookie, gives them some athletic pass-catching upside. 4. Los Angeles Rams: Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson Higbee played three games late last season coming back from ACL surgery. He is now getting old at age 32, and Ferguson is promising but is a second-round rookie. Arizona Cardinals to avoid most of NFL's top TEs in 2025
They will only face one top-10 TE in the NFL in 2025, as well as one who receives honorable mention. The Arizona Cardinals have one of the league's best tight ends in the league in Trey McBride. He is an absolute stud. He was the Cardinals' best pass-catcher last season, logging 111 receptions. Coaches, scouts and executives agree, as he was ranked fifth in the league at the position by them. But the Cardinals won't face a lot of top-tier tight ends in 2025. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler gives us the top 10 tight ends in the NFL entering the 2025 season, based on the votes of aforementioned coaches, scouts and execs. NFL top TEs the Cardinals will face in 2025 This is actually a pretty good thing, as the Cardinals have Akeem Davis-Gaither and Mack Wilson expected to be their starting linebackers. Kittle is always a challenge and Ferguson is solid, but the Cardinals avoid many of the great ones. NFL TE rankings: Coaches, execs, scouts put Arizona Cardinals' Trey McBride in top 5
McBride an honorable-mention player last offseason. Now, coaches, scouts and execs rank him as a top-5 TE. Arizona Cardinals fans know how good tight end Trey McBride. After all, he did catch 111 passes last season. He broke his own receptions record for a single season as a tight end and came close to setting the franchise single-season record period (DeAndre Hopkins' 115 catches in 2020 set the mark). But how good does the league think he is? He made his first Pro Bowl this past season. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler polled coaches, scouts and executives about who they believe are the top 10 players at each position. Let's see where McBride lands. NFL TE rankings: Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals McBride is fourth in the top 10, behind Las Vegas' Brock Bowers, San Francisco's George Kittle and Detroit's Sam LaPorta. He received at least one vote as the No. 1 tight end and was in the top 10 in every ballot. "Best receiving tight end out there," an NFL coordinator said. "He's a hard cover even for elite corners." McBride's jump from last year's honorable mention status to the top four is sizable, but he was the only tight end not named Kittle or Bowers to receive a first-place vote. "Lack of touchdowns hurts him a bit for me if we're talking about top-five guys," an NFL personnel director said about McBride, who has six total touchdowns in three seasons. McBride actually has more than six total touchdowns. He has six receiving touchdowns. He rushed for a touchdown last season and recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown as well, so he has scored eight total in his career. Now, those eight career total touchdowns equal Kittle's touchdown receptions in 2024, but Bowers had only five touchdowns last season, compared to McBride's four total scores. Does McBride need to score more touchdowns? Yes. Last season, on several end-zone targets, Murray either missed him or McBride didn't make a catch he would expect himself to make. That was fluky. Now, considering the strength of the Cardinals' running game and the presence of Marvin Harrison Jr., we might not see McBride get double-digit scores, but that is really the next step for him. He is an elite pass-catching tight end. He is a capable blocker. If he scores touchdowns, that takes him to the next level.
