Putin's mouthpiece issues WW3 threat after promise over UK's nuke-capable jets

Vladimir Putin's top spokesman has reacted furiously after Estonia said it was open to hosting RAF warplanes with nuclear capability - while one Kremlin mouthpiece said the move would 'end badly' Russia has issued a new threat to NATO after one of Britain's allies said it was 'ready' to host RAF warplanes capable of carrying tactical nuclear bombs. In the security defence review unveiled this week by Keir Starmer, it was announced the RAF will be equipped with twelve new F-35A fifth-generation aircraft by 2030, which will be "available to fly NATO's nuclear mission in a crisis". Estonia's defence minister Hanno Pevkur said today that his country would "naturally" be prepared to host some of the jets - sparking a furious reaction from Vladimir Putin 's spokesman, who was asked by Russian media if such a move would be perceived as a threat to Moscow. ‌ ‌ Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin's top press secretary, said: "A direct one. Of course… a direct danger." Estonia is a NATO member and shares a 183-mile land border with Russia, and around 1,000 British troops are permanently based in the Baltic state. Peskov added: 'The leaders of the Baltic countries express a lot of absurd ideas. One can only express regret, that's all.' Russia's extensive propaganda operation has also honed in on the Estonian minister's comments, and even appeared to threaten the country with invasion. One presenter from Kremlin-linked Tsargrad TV warned: 'It's strange that Tallinn doesn't grasp the obvious. 'Such moves near Russia's borders end very badly. And there's no need to look far for an example — just look at where such 'games' have led Ukraine.' Pro-Kremlin military blogger Aleksei Zhivov warned an F‑35A deployment could trigger war, accusing Estonia and NATO of inciting Putin. ‌ He said: 'Given that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are located uncomfortably close to Russia's most important regions, this poses an existential threat to our country' 'This should be viewed appropriately — as part of Europe's preparations for a major war with Russia. At some point, the Baltics' task will be to provoke Russia into launching a military operation in the region.' Peskov was speaking in Belarus, a Russian ally which borders Baltic states Lithuania and Latvia, and also another NATO state Poland. Belarus has been supplied with nuclear weapons by Putin. ‌ A dozen new RAF F‑35A fighters capable of carrying US B61‑12 nuclear gravity bombs are scheduled to enter service by 2030 at RAF Marham in Norfolk - but there has been no suggestion that they would be based in Estonia. Britain's existing F-35 jets have previously been sent on short rotational deployments to Estonia for "NATO enhanced Vigilance Activity", but are not based there permanently. Suggesting today that he would be open to hosting newer versions of the planes with enhanced nuclear capability, Estonia's Hanno Pevkur said: 'F-35s have already been in Estonia, and will soon return as part of the rotational mission. 'If some of them, regardless of the country, also have dual-use nuclear weapons capability, this does not change our position on hosting the F-35. Of course, we are ready to host allies.'

Pro-Kremlin Russian Military Correspondent Yurii Kotenok: 'It's Very Likely That After Iran, They Will Be After... Us!'

Pro-Kremlin Russian military correspondent Yuri Petrovich Kotenok, whose Telegram channel has over 360,000 subscribers, analyzed the Iran-Israel war. In his Telegram posts, Kotenok stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) proved impotent in matters of defense. He then added: "Provided the world plan-maker goes further, trying to change the [Iranian] regime, it's very likely that after Iran they will be after... us! The temptation is great – Russia is encircled.' Russian military correspondent Yuri Petrovich Kotenok. (Source: Tsargrad TV) The following is a translation of Kotenok's Telegram posts:[1] "The IRGC... Has Proved Impotent In Matters Of Defense" "1. Iran is trying to respond to Israel, but the enemy methodically destroys not just military infrastructure, but infrastructure in general. An analysis of military actions between Israel and Iran evidence that Tehran, surprisingly, did not invest in air defence, did not build it, however, as well as the Air Force. Iran was investing in missiles. "2. It appears that Israel, contrary to the media, has not yet succeeded in destroying the stockpile of Iranian missiles (warehouses) that was accumulated over the past years. It is difficult to reach them [hidden] in the rocks. Israelis try to block the entrances to missile stockpiles carved in mountains with strikes; they also hit teams trying to clear the rubble in the adits. "3. There is a roughly similar case with the very same nuclear facilities. The main ones have not been destroyed by the enemy. Provided the Zionists cannot not reach the target, they carry out accompanying strikes: They take down electricity [systems] to block the facility, curb its operational possibility, etc. "4. There is no evidence of Iran's air defense system working. Perhaps the military bureaucracy is to blame for all of this and/or, considering the example of the gaps in Tehran's defense, the idiocy of the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps], which grabbed all the functions of the state, from selling [illegal] drugs to providing security for the elites and cities. Tehran was guarded only by the IRGC, and now Tehran has to endure [the Israeli strikes]... IRGC, this omnipotent structure, which infiltrated all institutions of the country's economic and political life, has proved impotent in matters of defense. "5. Meanwhile, Iran continues to launch missiles, showing that it has the power and means to terrify Israel, which gives Iran credit. "6. Iran's saturation with Zionist agents, which are involved [in Israel's operation] has its effect. Unfortunately, Iran turned out to be not ready for war, having lost the support of Hizbullah and Hamas. The very same Houthis, possessing territory and forces much smaller than Iran, managed to build a system [of operations], fought and 'bit' to the last and, in general, remained with what they had. Despite the fact that two U.S. carrier strike groups and some of their allies were fighting them. Both even suffered some losses." "If The Iranian Regime Collapses, A Monstrous Migration Blow Will Be Dealt To Armenia, Azerbaijan, And Through Them, No Doubt, To Russia" "7. If Iran were willing to fight to the last man, like the Houthis, to inflict defeat on the enemy, coordinating strikes across the Iranian network, the situation would look different by now. The problem is that Tehran has buried this network with its own hands over the last two to three years – it allowed Hamas and Hizbullah to be defeated and the Assad regime to fall. Unfortunately, the IRGC is to blame for this too. This power structure has infiltrated all institutions of political and economic life, trying to pass all political and non-political solutions, and as a result has drowned in its own bureaucracy. And now the losses in the army and navy are far from that of the IRGC. And the army continues to strike Israel. "8. Trump has claimed that [Israel's] dominance has been established in Iranian airspace. It is very likely that the US will directly participate in the conflict, conducting strikes because Iran's air force has been virtually destroyed. We can with high probability expect an attempt at regime change in Iran. Trump is already demanding capitulation. "9. With such tendencies, Iran will be defeated. And the situation, in my opinion, will not be changed by Pakistan's promises to intervene in the conflict. So far, with our very eyes we see attempts at dismantling China's main asset – Iran. "10. If the Iranian regime collapses, a monstrous migration blow will be dealt to Armenia, Azerbaijan, and through them, no doubt, to Russia. "11. Provided the world plan-maker goes further, trying to change the [Iranian] regime, it is very likely that after Iran they will be after... us! The temptation is great – Russia is encircled. They will subvert the internal situation, creating challenges and threats along the border. They will try to continuously penetrate the border in batches of several tens of thousands of refugees. This will lead to excesses at the border territories, which will resonate throughout the country. "12. There is nothing good that the ancient Persian civilization is being crushed before our eyes. It is the most intelligent, softest, the most non-confrontational of Muslim civilizations with the deepest history. The state in which it now exists is in danger of collapse. Unfortunately, Iran has practically no moves left that could confound the enemy. Joint missile attacks, on which Tehran was counting, are currently only possible with the help of Yemen, and even then, will have a limited scale. At the moment, Iran can do little, alas... only fight to the last..."

Elon will lose fight with Trump, Musk's father tells Russia

Credit: Tsargrad TV Elon Musk will lose his fight with Donald Trump and made a 'mistake' by challenging him, his father has said. Speaking at a political conference in Moscow, Errol Musk claimed his billionaire son was suffering 'PTSD from the White House' and blamed his row with the US president on 'stress'. 'Trump will prevail – he's the president, he was elected as the president. So, you know, Elon made a mistake, I think. But he is tired, he is stressed,' he told Russian media. Last week, Elon Musk and Mr Trump traded insults after the Tesla chief executive denounced the president's sweeping new tax and spending Bill as 'a disgusting abomination'. He also called for the president's impeachment and claimed the Republican was 'in the Epstein files' – US government intelligence documents on Jeffrey Epstein, the late paedophile financier. In response, Mr Trump threatened to cancel US government contracts with Mr Musk's companies, which include SpaceX. Errol Musk told Izvestia, a Russian daily newspaper: 'You know they have been under a lot of stress for five months – you know – give them a break. 'They are very tired and stressed, so you can expect something like this.' Despite the pair's war of words, Mr Musk said he still believed his son's relationship with the president could be mended, describing the row as 'just a small thing' that would 'be over tomorrow'. He made the comments during an appearance at Future Forum 2050, a conference attended by Kremlin heavyweights and led by Alexander Dugin, a Russian ultra-nationalist philosopher often described as Vladimir Putin's 'brain'. Errol Musk was also pictured sitting next to Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister. At one point he praised Putin as a 'very stable and pleasant man' and blamed Western media for projecting 'nonsense' about Russia. It came as Stephen Bannon, Mr Trump's former chief strategist, claimed that in April Elon Musk had a physical altercation with Scott Bessent, the US treasury secretary, down the corridor from the Oval Office. Mr Bannon said: 'President Trump heard about it and said: 'This is too much,'' according to The Washington Post. A source told the newspaper that concerns were also raised over Mr Musk's alleged drug use. Mr Musk, the world's richest man, helped bankroll Mr Trump's 2024 presidential campaign. He was then hired to head the new Department of Government Efficiency, controversially tasked with downsizing the federal workforce and slashing spending. The tech entrepreneur stepped back from the role late last month, ending a turbulent 130-day stint in the administration. On Saturday, the US president said his relationship with Mr Musk was over, and warned there would be 'serious consequences' if Mr Musk switched his allegiance to the Democrats and funded rival candidates. Credit: Reuters Delighting in the row, Russian MPs have offered political asylum to the South African-born businessman. Last week, Dmitry Novikov, the deputy chairman of the state Duma committee on international affairs, said Moscow would welcome him to the country 'if he needs it'. Senior Putin allies have also mockingly offered to help mediate between the two men. 'We are ready to facilitate the conclusion of a peace deal between D and E for a reasonable fee and to accept Starlink shares as payment. Don't fight, guys!' said Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president, referring to Mr Musk's satellite internet network. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism. Elon Musk's dad says he's 'not a good politician' and Trump row 'was a mistake'

Elon Musk's dad Errol claimed his son was prepared to admit he had 'made a mistake' after lashing out against US President Donald Trump during their public fallout Elon Musk's father has arrived in Moscow to speak at a forum organised by Vladimir Putin 's closest aides. This comes after key Kremlin associates offered political asylum to his son - the world 's richest man - in the wake of his spectacular bust-up with Donald Trump. Errol Musk, 79, said there was PTSD in the White House, while also likening the ugly breakup to a marriage going wrong. He told Putin-controlled media: 'So at the moment, Elon is inclined to say that he's made a mistake.' Musk Snr added: 'Trump will prevail. He's the president, he was elected as the president. ‌ ‌ ' Elon made a mistake, I think, but he's tired, he's stressed. Five months of continuous stress, continuous, continuous stress, stress, stress. 'And then in the end, it's just him and Trump left... They still don't know what to do, so they fight with each other until they can come to normal conditions.' Suggesting his son was out of his depth in Washington's febrile politics, he told pro-Putin media outlet Izvestia: "They've been under a lot of stress for five months, a lot of stress for five months." Errol - a South African businessman - also predicted: "It's just a small thing. It'll be over tomorrow." And speaking to Tsargrad TV - owned by mogul Konstantin Malofeev, seen as linked to Russian military intelligence - Errol said: 'Elon with Trump and the new administration, they took over a somewhat broken United States, broken by the previous administration, with intent, evil intent. 'They've had five months at least of intense repair work, removing all the spurious opposition, all the crazies and so on. They've been under a lot of stress. ‌ 'Recently a new bill was put out - and Elon is still in the 'Let's get everything right' mode. He said, 'No, we must not include in such a bill more of this Democrat stupid schemes and money for them, it's not right'. 'But unfortunately, he doesn't realise that in order to get their votes in the Senate and the Congress, Trump has to do that... In order to take something, you have to give. ‌ 'So they had an argument about that, and as they are all suffering from a bit of PTSD, a post-traumatic stress disorder over the last few months, they started hitting out at each other. They are the only two people left in the arena, Trump and Elon, and all they were used to was fighting with the opposition 'So they took to each other, which is understandable. It happens in marriages, it happens in partnerships, it happens a lot. And people have to understand that at the moment, Elon is having second thoughts. 'He's not a great politician, he is still learning, he's a great tech innovator and so forth. But his politics is, as I've said before, is a swimming pool with no bottom, it's a swimming pool with no sides." ‌ Errol is set to speak at the Future Forum 2050, organised by Malofeev as well as Putin ideologist Alexander Dugin. A key speaker is Kremlin veteran foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, a war hardliner. Earlier Putin crony Dmitry Medvedev - formerly Russian president and prime minister - offered to mediate in the Trump-Musk row. He said on X: 'We are ready to facilitate the conclusion of a peace deal between D and E for a reasonable fee and to accept Starlink shares as payment. Don't fight, guys!' He also offered asylum to Musk. 'Elon @‌elonmusk, don't be upset! You are respected in Russia. If you encounter insurmountable problems in the US, come to us and become one of us,' he said. Senior lawmaker Dmitry Novikov also told state media Russia could offer asylum to Musk 'if he needs it'.

Trump administration suspends task force targeting assets of Russian oligarchs

The U.S. Justice Department is shutting down a program that sanctioned Kremlin-linked oligarchs, launched in 2022, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced on Feb. 5. In Bondi's memo, she stated that the program known as 'Task Force KleptoCapture' will be discontinued, as the priority of the Trump administration is combatting drug cartels and international gangs. Initiated under former U.S. President Joe Biden, the program aimed to financially pressure wealthy allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and penalize those involved in sanctions evasion. While ongoing cases against Russian oligarchs will continue, the task force will no longer be centrally managed at the Justice Department. The changes will take effect for at least 90 days, with the possibility of becoming permanent. The task force previously seized assets from individuals such as Tsargrad TV channel owner Konstantin Malofeyev and Dagestani senator and billionaire Suleyman Kerimov. A civil forfeiture complaint against Malofeyev was first filed in the U.S. on Nov. 30, 2022, and prosecutors threatened to seize $5.4 million. Similarly, in April 2022 the U.S. seized Kerimov's $300 million superyacht and sanctioned his family and associates later that year.
