Akhil Sachdeva on singers cult fanbase: ‘Musicians ne actors ko insecure kiya'
Akhil Sachdeva is not just a singer; his soulful voice is an experience. From his top hits like Humsafar to recent releases like Tu Chand Hai, Akhil has carved a unique space in the Indian music industry. In an exclusive conversation with Akhil Sachdeva opened up about his journey from cricket to music, from theatre to becoming a household name in romantic melodies. The Song That Almost Didn't Happen: Tu Chand Hai
On speaking about his recent song 'Tu Chand hai', he admitted that he usually composes and writes his own music, so singing someone else's composition felt off. Released under a Dubai-based music label, the song was initially rejected by Akhil. He was travelling during that time and didn't feel connected to the song. Later, his wife convinced him to give it another listen: 'You are melody, and this melody suits your voice.' He ended up singing it in just one take, and the rest is history. 'I'm glad I did it. The song went into a completely different zone once I sang it,' he says. When asked about cross-border collaborations (particularly with Pakistani artists), Akhil says: 'Music has no boundaries—that's something I've always believed. But given the current situation, we have to stand with our country. And we are doing that. I'm proud to stand with my nation.'
Singing wasn't Akhil's first choice; in fact, Akhil's first passion was cricket, and he dreamt of playing for India. However, that couldn't materialize. Later, he went to Mumbai and got enrolled in a 3-month acting course with Barry John, where Barry John himself asked him life-defining questions: 'Are you sure you want to be an actor or a musician?'
There, he also met his friend Niharika Singh, who was in the same acting class. She suggested that Akhil take advice from a Guruji who is currently his singing Guru. His Guruji also saw Akhil's inclination towards music and suggested he follow the path.
And today, Akhil has become a top singer, and he believes he was destined to become a musician. 'I didn't choose music, music chose me'

Speaking about Indian singer getting their due appreciation and recognition, Akhil shares that he feels that the Indian music industry is currently at its peak. He even feels that a lot of actors want to become singers, and the singer's cult fan base has surpassed that of actors. He even feels that the music scene has made actors insecure. After his new release of 'Tu chand hai', Akhil is geared up for many of his major projects coming soon this year. He hinted that 3 new songs are coming by July itself, and 2 more songs with Big Star are also being released this year.
