Lanka Dinakar calls for coordinated efforts to achieve Viksit Bharat, Swarnandhra goals
Twenty Point Programme Implementation Committee Chairperson Lanka Dinakar urged the district officials to work in coordination across departments to help realise the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Andhra Pradesh's Swarnandhra 2047 goal. He was addressing a review meeting held in Bapatla on Tuesday, where Collector J. Venkata Murali directed officials to act on Dinakar's suggestions.
The review covered centrally-sponsored schemes and infrastructure projects. Emphasising grassroots-level transformation, Dinakar said departmental coordination was vital to overcome challenges and develop Bapatla as a model district.
The MGNREGS was a key focus. In 2024–25, the district generated 67.4 lakh person-days (103.69% of the target). Yet, material component spending remained at ₹90 crore against a possible ₹110 crore. Dinakar called for scrutiny of the last five years' spending, especially on assets created and alleged irregularities. He demanded an increase in average daily wages from ₹278 to the entitled ₹300, and stressed full utilisation of the 100-day entitlement per family.
The Jal Jeevan Mission faced criticism for poor planning and lack of long-term water sources between 2019–24 during YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) governance in the State. Of the 1,420 projects initiated, only 325 were completed. Of the 3.65 lakh rural households, only 1.49 lakh have connection to tap water, and many do not even receive supply. Meanwhile, revised costs now amount to ₹3,200 crore.
Other schemes reviewed include PMAY, with 11,968 houses yet to be started, AMRUT 2.0, PMGSY, Lakpati and Drone Didis, PM Suryaghar, and PM Vishwakarma. With regard to agriculture, officials discussed PM-KUSUM, PMFBY, PM-KISAN, which benefited 1.42 lakh farmers, and the supply of 6.17 lakh metric tonnes of urea between 2021–24.
Dinakar also reviewed rural connectivity, organic farming, solar installations, and the implementation of PM SAVNidhi and NFSA. He emphasised strict monitoring and timely corrective actions to ensure effective implementation and outcomes.
