How social media reacted to UNC's baseball season ending against Arizona in Super Regional

How social media reacted to UNC's baseball season ending against Arizona in Super Regional There was a dejected feeling across social media after UNC's baseball season came to a close on Sunday. After an 18-2 explosion against Arizona on Friday afternoon, the North Carolina Tar Heels found themselves one victory away from a second-consecutive trip to the College World Series. UNC led late in Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional Saturday, but its bullpen faltered late in a 10-8 loss. North Carolina held another late lead Sunday, leading 3-1, but that didn't last long. Diamond Heels captain Jackson Van De Brake botched a would-be double play ball in the eighth inning, with Arizona soon after taking the lead by scoring three runs. UNC's offense remained stagnant after escaping the eighth, with UNC losing 4-3 – and watching its hopes of a second-straight CWS berth come to a screeching halt. North Carolina (46-15) fell behind early in Game 3, just like it did on Saturday, but took the lead on more clutch hitting. Van De Brake, who walked four times against the Wildcats (44-19), smoked a 3-run, third-inning home run on a line drive just over the left field wall. The Diamond Heels couldn't muster much after Van De Brake's bomb, though, minus a couple baserunners. UNC didn't get a single runner on base in the ninth inning, with Tyson Bass, Sam Angelo and Carter French all going hitless. Ryan Lynch, typically a long-relief option for North Carolina out of the bullpen, pitched phenomenal on Sunday before being pulled in the eighth inning. Diamond Heels closer Walker McDuffie struggled again in relief, recording just one out, giving up a hit and walking one batter, while his lone unearned run was the eventual game-winning for Arizona. Let's take a look at social media and see the college baseball world's reaction to UNC's loss, which was a heartbreaker considering how UNC was two innings away from Omaha: Comparing UNC's choke to the Dallas Cowboys Arizona is loving life right now UNC didn't score the offense went cold Van De Brake helped get UNC to Supers Disagreement about the ending of Game 3 UNC couldn't cash in on its best team in years This was supposed to be the year Tar Heel Nation feels your pain Don't jump to conclusions Tyson Bass struggled Sunday after a big Game 2 Van De Brake gave UNC the easy on him Did fielding and pitching cost UNC a chance at Omaha? Thank you to the Diamond Heels' veterans Mistakes came at the worst time kids are still in college Ryan Lynch gave UNC a chance to win If you just started watching UNC during the NCAA quiet The talent was result wasn't Postseason baseball is weird

What channel is UNC-Arizona on? Time, TV schedule for Chapel Hill Super Regional Game

What channel is UNC-Arizona on? Time, TV schedule for Chapel Hill Super Regional Game Here's all the broadcasting information you need to know for Game 3 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional between UNC and Arizona. Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional proved to be plenty more exciting than Friday's opener, with both UNC and Arizona combining for 18 runs. The only issue: despite holding a late lead, North Carolina's usually-stellar pitching faltered. Arizona, acting as the home team for Game 2, turned a 2-run deficit into a 10-8 victory and kept its season alive. Facing a 6-4 deficit entering the seventh inning, the Diamond Heels pushed across four runs to take an 8-6 lead. Right fielder Tyson Bass started the scoring party with a 2-strike, 2-out, 3-run home run to left field, then Jackson Van De Brake drew a bases-loaded walk. Walker McDuffie, UNC's typically-reliable freshman closer, allowed four runs and took the loss Saturday afternoon. Wildcats (43-19) right fielder Brendan Summerhill started his team's rally, doubling into left field and closing North Carolina's lead to 8-7. Easton Breyfogle tied the game on a wild pitch, then Maddox Mihalakis mashed a 2-run single and gave Arizona the lead for good. The Diamond Heels will need more from their hitters on Sunday, particularly the top of their lineup. 1-5 hitters Kane Kepley, Van De Brake, Luke Stevenson, Gavin Gallaher and Hunter Stokely hit a combined 3-for-19, though Van De Brake walked four times. If Alex Madera, Bass, Sam Angelo (2-for-5) and Carter French (4-hit afternoon) can also deliver strong afternoons at the plate, celebration will ensue at Boshamer Stadium. Are you traveling to The Bosh for Game 3? Have a blast, continue filling the stands with Carolina Blue and cross your fingers for good luck. Lynch, combined with whoever North Carolina head coach Scott Forbes puts on the mound, cannot allow 10 runs to a hot Arizona squad. Despite UNC scoring eight runs on Saturday, hitters like Stevenson and Stokely need to come alive again. The Wildcats are getting contributions from virtually everyone in their lineup. North Carolina plays well enough to win Sunday, but hitting woes persist atop the lineup. Arizona escapes Boshamer Stadium and advances to the College World Series. Arizona takes down Tar Heels, forcing Game 3 of Chapel Hill Super Regional

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCT) — Saturday was Game 2 of the Chapel Hill Super Regional between North Carolina and Arizona. A trip to Omaha was on the line for the Tar Heels while the Wildcats looked to force a decisive Game 3. UNC hammered Arizona 18-2 Friday and jumped out to a lead Saturday, leading 8-6 after the top of the seventh inning. The Wildcats had an answer in the bottom of the seventh as they scored four runs to pull ahead 10-8. That score held up to be the final, forcing a Game 3 Sunday. UNC's Tyson Bass and Sam Angelo each hit a home run with Bass driving in three runs for the game and Angelo two. Walker McDuffie took the loss on the mound for UNC. Arizona got a home run from Tommy Splaine and Tony Pluta was the winning pitcher. Game 3 will be Sunday at noon with the winner earning a trip to the College World Series.
