Wildfires rage across Turkey's Izmir province
Turkish authorities have been working to contain wildfires in the Aegean coastal province of Izmir on 30 June as strong winds caused the blazes to spread in the region. Flights at Izmir international airport were temporarily suspended because of smoke in the area. Turkey's coastal regions have in recent years been ravaged by wildfires, as summers have become hotter and drier, which scientists say is a result of human-induced climate change

Türkiye to Start Supplying Syria with Gas in June
Türkiye will start supplying Syria, which has suffered from severe power shortages, with gas in June as the two work on completing a gas pipeline connecting them, the Syrian energy minister told a press conference on Thursday. A 400-kilovolt transmission line between the two countries could also be operating by the end of the year, Mohamed al-Bashir said alongside his visiting Turkish counterpart, Reuters reported.
