Randall Shedd, R-Fairview, resigned on Feb. 17 to be Senate Pro Tem Garland Gudger's director of constituent affairs. Does the seat have a partisan lean? District 11 is solidly Republican. Shedd, who won the seat in a 2013 special election, never faced opposition in any subsequent general election. What issues dominate the race? SB 322, sponsored by Sen. Jabo Waggoner, R-Vestavia Hills, was signed by Gov. Kay Ivey on May 7. The bill allows the City of Cullman to annex a resort in Cullman County, a dry county, in order for the resort to serve alcohol. Allbright opposes the legislation. Allbright said the timing of the legislation was poor. Cullman County currently does not have representation in the House after Shedd resigned in February and former Rep. Corey Harbison, a Republican, resigned in April after not being present for most of the session. Allbright said he wants more local control of education and said the CHOOSE Act is as local as it gets. He also supports the RAISE Act on the same principle. Fallin declined to comment on any election-related issues. What happens after today? The Republican with the most votes will face Democratic candidate Alex Brasswell, a 30-year-old American Sign Language interpreter, in the special general election on Aug. 26. If a candidate does not receive 50% of the vote, a runoff primary election will be held on June 10. Will the results alter control of the Legislature? No. Republicans currently hold 74 of the 105 seats in the lower chamber and 26 of the 35 seats in the upper chamber. SUPPORT: YOU MAKE OUR WORK POSSIBLE

Your Stories Q&A: What documents do I need to bring to DMV to get REAL ID?
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — You ask, we answer! Viewer Question: What documents do I need to bring to the DMV to get a REAL ID? The NYS DMV has a great breakdown on its website. If you click on the 'find out what documents you need' button, it will customize the documents you need specific to your situation. This video, posted by the NYS DMV, is also very helpful. Documents you'll need to bring to the DMV Proof of Social Security Status: A few documents apply, including a Social Security Card, W-2, SSA-1099. Two Proofs of New York State Residence: Several documents will work, including your driver's license, utility bill, bank statement, canceled check, W-2, or postmarked mail. Proof of Name and Lawful Status: A Birth certificate or U.S. Passport will suffice. You need to make sure all your documents show the same name. If that's not the case, the DMV lists the following guidance: You will need to bring original or certified copies of documents showing how your name changed (Example: marriage certificate, divorce decree, and/or court-issued documents). If your name has changed multiple times, you must bring multiple documents that link all names. If you have a middle name, your Proof of Birth and Lawful Status document must include it for the name to appear on your permit or license. If you have a suffix, it may appear on any document, but it must appear on at least one. Remember, if you have an Enhanced ID, you do not need to go to the DMV for a REAL ID. An Enhanced license meets REAL ID requirements. Submit a form. Your Stories Q&A: What documents do I need to bring to DMV to get REAL ID? Arkansas revenue offices issue record number of REAL IDs Tuesday, Sherwood office forced to redirect customers after running out
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansans are coming out in droves to get a REAL ID ahead of the enforcement date on Wednesday. A spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration said Arkansas revenue offices issued a record number of REAL IDs on Tuesday, noting that they issued 10,000 on Monday and expect the number to be as high as 15,000 on Tuesday. REAL ID enforcement starts this week: 5 things to know According to the DFA, the Sherwood Revenue Office was forced to redirect customers to nearby offices after running out. The DFA spokesperson added that a belief that May 7 was the final day to get a REAL ID is leading to a widespread sense of urgency to get a REAL ID. 'That is not the case. DFA will issue the REAL ID for years to come,' the spokesperson said. 'Unless there is an urgent need (a flight in the next day or two), Arkansans can wait and obtain it next week or next year.' DFA officials said they expect revenue offices to be replenished on Wednesday and encourage Arkansans to check back with their nearby revenue offices if they visited one that ran out Tuesday. 'Again, we want to be sure Arkansans understand tomorrow is not the deadline to obtain a REAL ID,' the DFA spokesperson said. 'Their regular license or state ID will certainly remain valid after May 7. For those with an upcoming flight, a U.S. Passport or Department of Defense ID will work in place of a REAL ID to board a flight.' Can you still receive a REAL ID after the May 7 deadline in Arkansas? For more information on what you'll need and how to get a REAL ID, visit Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
