CM asks officials to expedite metro rail project work

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction work on the Patna Metro Rail Project at Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath metro stations and asked the officials to expedite work. The secretary of urban development and housing department (UDHD), Abhay Kumar Singh, gave detailed information to the CM regarding the progress and updated status of the construction work on the priority corridor (Malahi Pakadi to Pataliputra bus terminal) as the target is to start this line by Aug 15. Abhay informed the CM that the target is to complete the construction work on the total 6.20 km from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath road, Zero Mile, Pataliputra bus terminal on priority basis. The state govt has provided Rs 115.10 crore for its operation. The UDHD secretary also apprised Nitish about the escalator, ticket counter, passenger facility, public area, paid area, lift, path to the platform and other necessary facilities to be provided at Malahi Pakadi metro station. The CM directed the officials to expedite the construction work. "We have been continuously inspecting its construction works and instructed the officials to ensure its completion on time so that people have convenience in commuting," the CM said. UDHD minister Jibesh Kumar; principal secretary to the CM, Deepak Kumar; secretary to the CM, Kumar Ravi; Patna commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh; DM Thiyagarajan SM; SSP Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Patna Metro Rail Project were present on the occasion. 1 2 3 Patna: State urban development and housing department (UDHD) on Thursday approved construction of two guest houses (dharmashalas), including one for VVIPs, for Rs 20 crore at Sultanganj for 'kanwariyas', said deputy CM Samrat Choudhary on Friday. Lakhs of Shiva devotees, who start their pilgrimage from Sultanganj to Deoghar in neighbouring Jharkhand carrying Ganga water, particularly during the Hindu month of Shrawan, will get the facility, he added. Joint secretary, UDHD, on Thursday wrote to chief general manager, south Bihar subdivision of Buidco, requesting him to initiate the construction of the multistorey dharmashalas at Namami Gange Ghat in Sultanganj municipal council area. Choudhary said some of the rooms in the VIP dharmashala will also be available for the general public. "More than 1.5 lakh devotees of Lord Shiva come to Sultanganj every day during the holy month of Shrawan," he said, adding an administrative approval has been given to spend over Rs 11 crore on the construction of "Janata dharmashala" near Namami Gange Ghat and over Rs 8 crore for the super-special guest house. Choudhary said the CGM had requested the administration in March for providing the estimate and granting approval for the construction of two multistorey dharmashalas in Sultanganj. Patna: CM Nitish Kumar is scheduled to formally launch on Friday the govt's ' Aapka Shahar Aapki Baat ' campaign for the newly added areas and wards in 90 of the 261 urban local bodies across the state. While the campaign was to be launched on Tuesday, its date was postponed to Friday due to the death of Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Christians, on Monday. During the campaign, the priorities and needs of people in the newly included wards of the 90 urban local bodies will be enlisted, and schemes be framed accordingly for their implementation on a priority basis, urban development and housing department (UDHD) secretary Abhay Kumar Singh said at a review meeting held at the official residence of the CM. The CM went through the campaign literature, saw a short film and inspected a model 'rath (decorated motor van)', which will cover the newly included wards of the 90 urban local bodies. Singh said that the number of urban local bodies in the state had increased from 120 in 2006 to 261 in 2025, while population in such areas also increased to 1.57 crore or 15.23% of the total population, as per the 2011 Census.
