CM asks officials to expedite metro rail project work

on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction work on the Patna Metro Rail Project at Malahi Pakadi and Bhootnath metro stations and asked the officials to expedite work.
The secretary of urban development and housing department (UDHD), Abhay Kumar Singh, gave detailed information to the CM regarding the progress and updated status of the construction work on the priority corridor (Malahi Pakadi to Pataliputra bus terminal) as the target is to start this line by Aug 15.
Abhay informed the CM that the target is to complete the construction work on the total 6.20 km from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath road, Zero Mile, Pataliputra bus terminal on priority basis.
The state govt has provided Rs 115.10 crore for its operation.
The UDHD secretary also apprised Nitish about the escalator, ticket counter, passenger facility, public area, paid area, lift, path to the platform and other necessary facilities to be provided at Malahi Pakadi metro station.
The CM directed the officials to expedite the construction work. "We have been continuously inspecting its construction works and instructed the officials to ensure its completion on time so that people have convenience in commuting," the CM said.
UDHD minister Jibesh Kumar; principal secretary to the CM, Deepak Kumar; secretary to the CM, Kumar Ravi; Patna commissioner Chandrashekhar Singh; DM Thiyagarajan SM; SSP Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Patna Metro Rail Project were present on the occasion.

While uncertainty looms over India's Rs 87,000-crore annual textile exports to the US, a handful of companies with manufacturing facilities overseas plan to shift production for American customers out of India. Now that the US has declared final reciprocal tariffs on all major garment manufacturing countries at 19-20%, we are seeing positive momentum from US customers for our Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Guatemala facilities,' said Pallab Banerjee, managing director, Pearl Global, during the earnings call. Pearl Global has manufacturing bases in India, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Indonesia and Guatemala. It exports fashion garments — including knits, wovens, denim, outerwear, activewear and athleisure — to global brands such as Chicos, Kohl's, Old Navy, Poligono, Primark, PVH, Ralph Lauren, Stylem and Target.'With a 50% tariff imposed on India, Pearl Global is recalibrating its business strategy to adapt to evolving trade dynamics. While production for the US market will be reassigned to more favourable hubs, India will continue to grow by tapping new and advantageous partnerships, such as the UK FTA, and focusing on other existing FTA markets like Japan and Australia until the US tariff issue is resolved,' Banerjee said. The company said US revenue from its India operations in FY25 stands at 16-18% of group revenue, while bottom line from the US business accounts for 4-5% of overall group profit. 'We believe such recalibrations should help retain customer wallet share and maintain profitability,' he said. The company will also proceed with its capital expenditure plan in Bangladesh.

Delhi CM salutes sanitation workers' dedication, vows to protect their dignity, rights & honour
New Delhi, Aug 8 (UNI) Saluting the dedication and work done by city's sanitation workers, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today said that the relentless effort put in by them to make the national capital clean and free from waste is something that cannot be expressed in words. She further emphasized that the consistent contributions of the 'Swachhata Praharis' (sanitation workers) are central to the goal of a clean and hygienic Delhi. Gupta on Friday celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the sanitation workers at the Chief Minister's Seva Sadan, and tied rakhi on to their wrists, which was a heart touching gesture. CM stated, 'On this auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I vow to protect your dignity, rights, and honour.
