Emmerdale makes 'last minute' change as boss says 'it felt right'
Emmerdale has revealed that it's made a 'last-minute' change to its latest episode after the long-running show's boss admitted 'it felt right'. Monday's (July 28) episode of the ITV soap, will begin with a specially filmed scene celebrating the Lionesses' momentous victory over Spain in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final. The opening of the episode will see Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) chatting with Mary Goskirk (Louise Jameson) about Sunday's (July 27) incredible football match. Viewers will also get a glimpse of the aftermath of a lively celebration at the Woolpack pub, with the disarray clearly indicating the villagers had gathered en masse to watch the Lionesses make history. This scene was a last-minute addition, filmed with the hopeful anticipation of an England win, allowing Emmerdale to capture and reflect the national excitement surrounding the Lionesses' triumph. Producer Laura Shaw said: "With the nation getting behind the Lionesses. We knew the fictional characters in Emmerdale would've been doing just the same so it felt right and proper that we should reflect this result on the show." England defended their European title after beating Spain 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday, after a dramatic tournement that saw the Lionesses fight until the very end. After needing to recover from an opening loss to France just to make it out of the group stage, and then play 120 minutes against both Sweden and Italy to reach the final, England again came from behind on the night and went the distance as Alessia Russo cancelled out Mariona Caldentey's opener. After seeing goalkeeper Hannah Hampton make two key saves before Chloe Kelly's winning spot-kick, manager Sarina Wiegman called it 'the most chaotic and ridiculous tournament we have played' Emmerdale air at 7.30pm weeknights on ITV1 and STV or from 7am on ITVX and STV Player.

Prince William and Princess Charlotte are ready for some soccer. The Prince of Wales, 43, and his 10-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte stepped out on Sunday, July 27, in Switzerland to attend the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final between England and Spain. Charlotte, who wore a blue dress with white polka dots for the occasion, posed for photos with her dad at the event, as seen in a picture shared on the official Prince and Princess of Wales Instagram account. Ahead of the match, William wished the England women's national soccer team good luck in an Instagram story. "The nation is so proud you are through to the final after some stunning comebacks!" he wrote. "We are all cheering you on!" William checked in with another message halfway through the match, writing, "May the best team win." Princess Charlotte looks just like Prince William in birthday photo taken by Princess Kate The public outing comes after William, Charlotte, Princess Kate and Prince George all stepped out on July 13 to attend the Wimbledon Championships' singles final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz. Charlotte was wearing a ruffled white dress for that game. The royal family recently celebrated Prince George's 12th birthday on Tuesday, July 22. In a photo shared on Instagram, George was seen wearing a blue and white button-down shirt and zip-up vest, and a video showed him posing for pictures with his siblings Charlotte and Prince Louis, 7. Though she announced in January that her cancer is in remission, she was unexpectedly absent from a scheduled public appearance at Royal Ascot in June. Earlier this month, while visiting Colchester Hospital in Essex, Kate discussed how the next phase of recovery after treatment can be challenging. "You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment," she said. "Treatment's done, then it's like, 'I can crack on, get back to normal,' but actually the phase afterwards is really, really difficult." 'We want to play for England just like Jess Park'
The next generation of aspiring Lionesses say the current England team is inspiring them to become professional footballers. Defending champions England will take on Spain in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final on Sunday, hoping to go one better than two years ago when they lost to the same opponents in the World Cup final. Young girls at Elloughton Blackburn Football Club in Brough, the former club of current England international Jess Park, said they hoped to follow in her footsteps. Eight-year-old Scarlett said: "I feel like I could be like her [Jess Park] and I could play for Elloughton but then go into England, too." She added: "I think they [the Lionesses] are going to win. I think she [Jess Park] has been really good. I've been proud of her." Thea, seven, said her role models included Park and Ella Toone. She said: "I like them because they're just really kind. I really look up to them and I want to be the next one of them. "They represent our country and they're just really good at playing football. "I think they're going to do really well and score lots of goals." Thea's mother, Becca, said her daughter "lives and breathes" football. She said watching the Lionesses showed girls what could be achieved in the sport and that it was not just for boys. She added: "Representation is important in all areas and the fact that they can see someone special like Jess, who has started here and see what she's gone on to do, I think that's amazing." Scarlett, seven, said she joined the team because she wants to be a professional football player. "I feel inspired that Jess has gone from Elloughton Blackburn to the national team," she said. "If they win, girls will want to play the game more." Elloughton Blackburn's president, Conleth Campbell, has been at the club for 20 years and saw Park's progress. He said she played for the club from the age of seven for four years and it was an "absolutely phenomenal achievement" what she had done. He said: "We did see the talent back then at such a young age and we're all extremely proud of her. "The success of Jess and the success of the Lionesses has promoted girls football in this country. "We are approaching capacity [at the club]." Jess Glynne and girlfriend Alex Scott look ecstatic as they celebrate Lionesses' win - before singer takes to the stage at BOXPark Wembley
Jess Glynne and her girlfriend Alex Scott looked overjoyed as they celebrated the Lionesses' victory in the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 semi-final on Tuesday. The singer, 35, and the former footballer, 40, joined fans at BOXPARK Wembley to watch a live screening of the match. The couple couldn't hide their excitement as Alex's former team triumphed over Italy with a 2-1 win in Geneva, securing their place in the Euro 2025 final. At one point, Alex threw her arm into the air in celebration, while Jess, standing close beside her, beamed from ear to ear. To mark the big victory, Alex welcomed Jess to the stage for a high-energy performance. Wearing an England football shirt, the star looked incredible as she lit up the venue with her electric set. Alex and Jess began dating around October 2023. They kept their relationship private for months however, with Alex later admitting that they chose to do so because they knew it was 'special'. Writing in The Times, the BBC pundit opened up on her relationship, saying her and Jess are becoming the 'same person'. Detailing her daily routine, she wrote: 'I wake up next to my partner, Jess, who has become the same person as me over the past year and a half. 'She can see what going to the gym does for me mentally, so she'll do the same'. It was rumoured last month that the couple are considering moving across the pond to the United States. As reported by The Sun, Alex is said to be 'considering other offers' after experiencing a 'lack of support' with Football Focus on the BBC. The controversy came surrounding plummeting viewing figures, which left Alex reportedly feeling like she had been 'thrown under a bus' by the broadcaster. A source said: 'Last year [Alex] was hugely hurt by unfair criticism about falling viewing figures - and felt she was thrown under a bus. 'The viewing figures were not as reported. She feels no-one backed her up and issued the correct viewing figures.' The presenter's contract with the BBC is reported to be up for renewal this summer. Meanwhile Jess parted ways with her record label EMI last month after her April 2024 album, Jess, crashed out of the charts after just one week. A source told The Sun: 'Jess knows plenty about having massive hit singles, so there was a lot of excitement when she signed her deal with EMI Records. But it's not exactly been the fruitful relationship that either had hoped. 'The album didn't do as well as anyone wanted, and none of the singles even graced the Top 40 She's had a tough time reintroducing herself to the public after a few years away. Before adding: 'Both she and the label decided it was for the best to stop working together. But Jess isn't letting it dampen her spirits. She is already working on new music and is planning her next moves.'
