Before UFC 315, Benoit Saint Denis reveals 'huge mistake' from last training camp
Before UFC 315, Benoit Saint Denis reveals 'huge mistake' from last training camp Benoit Saint Denis made a major change for his UFC 315 training camp. Saint Denis (13-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) will look to snap a two-fight losing skid when he meets the returning Kyle Prepolec on Saturday at Bell Centre in Montreal (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+). The rising French lightweight saw his title hopes dashed when he was knocked out by Dustin Poirier at UFC 299. He then took on Renato Moicano in the UFC Fight Night 243 headliner this past September but was bloodied and battered in a second-round, doctor's stoppage TKO loss. Ahead of his return, Saint Denis made a stunning revelation. "I made a huge mistake to be the general and the soldier," Saint Denis told UFC News. "I was the one coaching myself. I had a lot of coaches for separate disciplines, but I didn't have a head coach. It was a huge mistake because when I entered the fight, I didn't know how to start it or what were the keys to victory. "I knew it, and after the first round, I had a strong second round, but Renato did a good job, and one of my eyes got closed. Despite being well prepared, it got him the victory. It's because I had the worst round of my life because I was the head coach of my camp, and you cannot do that. You have to be a soldier inside the cage." Saint Denis was originally scheduled to face Joel Alvarez but wound up drawing Prepolec (18-8 MMA, 0-2 UFC) after Alvarez withdrew.

Conor McGregor Has Revealed UFC Comeback Opponent
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. UFC superstar Conor McGregor has not fought in MMA since he lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg. Since then, the former double champion has been teasing his return once he healed from the broken leg. More news: UFC News: Michael Chandler Backs Surprising Lightweight to Receive Next Title Shot McGregor and Michael Chandler were named coaches of "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2023, and the conclusion of the popular reality TV fight series is that the coaches face off. Despite the conclusion of the season with the pair ending in Aug. 2023, the fight never happened. McGregor nearly returned in 2024 to finally face off against Chandler, but things went off the rails. A press conference was planned for July surrounding the fight, but a random cancellation of the presser led many to believe the fight was called off. Conor McGregor attends the UK special screening of "Road House" at The Curzon Mayfair on March 14, 2024 in London, England. Samir Hussein/WireImage That was the case, as it was revealed McGregor could not fight due to a broken toe. Since then, there has been little to no mention of when he would return to the octagon. Now, it appears McGregor is teasing his UFC return and has announced his comeback opponent. IRON MIKE CHANDLER. Unfinished business. — Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 22, 2025 McGregor took to X to state, "IRON MIKE CHANDLER. Unfinished business." Granted, this is not an announcement of a fight, but McGregor has resumed calling out Chandler. Considering both have called one another out for multiple years, the UFC might finally get this bout done. It is a fight that has been at least three years in the making, and it would still make sense for the pair to throw down. McGregor is 1-3 in his last four fights. He has two losses to Poirier and one to Khabib Nurmagomedov in those fights. Chandler recently lost to Paddy Pimblett at UFC 314 by KO/TKO. He is also 1-5 in his last six fights. Both McGregor and Chandler are in need of a win in the octagon, and both are two of the biggest draws in the UFC despite their recent fighting records. The UFC needs to find a way to ensure this fight can finally happen. McGregor has been teasing his return for years, and it appears he is finally returning to being serious about shaking off the ring rust to make his epic return. He would have an immediate huge opponent in Chandler if the UFC makes this request a reality. Martin Buday has 'big respect' for Uran Satybaldiev's grit on super-short notice at UFC on ESPN 65
LAS VEGAS – Martin Buday beat Uran Satybaldiev with a unanimous decision Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC on ESPN 65 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Take a look inside the fight with Buday, who held off a promotional newcomer who took the fight on three days' notice when Kennedy Nzechukwu dropped out – and with a 60-pound deficit from light heavyweight to heavyweight. Martin Buday def. Uran Satybaldiev Result: Martin Buday def. Uran Satybaldiev via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Updated records: Buday (15-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC), Satybaldiev (9-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) Key stats: Buday outstruck Satybaldiev 152-56 and had more than 5 minutes of control time, mostly in the clinch. Buday on the fight's key moment 'My performance was not so bad, but not something I was looking for. I wanted to finish him. He showed us he's a very tough opponent and (was) an undefeated guy for a reason. Big respect to Uran to step in on a few days' notice. I wanted the finished, but the performance was like normal.' Buday on late opponent change 'We were supposed to fight Kennedy, who is a southpaw, so the whole game plan was different for Kennedy. We did our best to adjust to the new opponent. It's a shame I didn't finish him like I wanted, but we did a good job – it was a whole different fight (than what we prepared for). ' Buday on what he wants next 'I would like to go back and finish what we started with Kennedy, so I wish him a speedy recovery from the injury. Hopefully we can (reschedule) our fight as soon as possible. As soon as he's OK, I'll jump on the training. I'm healthy, so I'll start training immediately when I get back home and have a better performance my next fight, for sure. But I hope it'll be with Kennedy.' 'For me it was the first time, the opponent changed two days before the bout.'
